  • Either that or I'm just oblivious! Will make a special trip to the supermarket tomorrow to see what I can find ;)
  • That's why you have to eat all the way around the edge of the poptart first, so you save all the yummy flavoured stuff for last! Also, what the hell is toaster strudel? Is this some marvellous invention that somehow hasn't made it to the UK yet???
  • It doesn't have to be junk food for me. Just any food. Something that I can munch on. Non-stop! Healthy food is less satisfying than haribo or chocolate, but I'll still eat it. And toast, it's convenient, and it's always available!
  • There is absolutely no reason not to exercise. Personally I don't go swimming when I get my period (because it makes me feel weird, not because there's any problem with it!), but I generally prefer running to swimming anyway, so that's not exactly a big deal. All the endorphins released in exercise make me feel more awake…
  • I think that's the kind of age where girls start to worry about what they look like - if you run around too much and get all sweaty, it'll ruin your hair/you'll break a nail/make-up will smudge... etc etc. Personally, I didn't really care, but then I was never one of the girly girls that got up at 6am to straighten their…
  • My biggest worry is - how did this guy get to be a professor?!
  • I'm intending to get to my goal weight, carry on counting at maintenance for, say, 3 months, until I feel like I can keep eating sensibly at that level, and then stop :) I don't want to do it forever, but if I stop too soon I know I'll just go straight back to square 1.
  • It's possible to get pro-biotic tablets that are not grown on a milk culture, ie are dairy free.
  • As you've got one leg longer than the other and all your pains are in one leg, I'd guess it's to do with that difference in length putting more pressure on the joints of one leg than the other. I don't know how different your legs are, but it's possible to get inserts for your shoes to balance out leg length differences,…
  • My understanding was that TDEE factors in exercise that is part of your daily work/life routine. So if you're a teacher chasing after young children all day, your TDEE should include that. However, I was always under the impression that exercise such as going to the gym, doing a workout dvd, running, swimming etc etc etc…
  • I don't really pay that much attention to them and I'm losing weight, but to be honest when I bother to look, over the course of a week I'm usually not far off them just by eating fairly healthy meals with a few treats at the end of the day.
  • Well done for going! The first time is hardest :D
  • I have semi-skimmed milk in my tea, coffee and porridge, and anything else I cook that might require milk. Semi because skimmed tastes like dirty water to me, and full fat seems like a waste of fat and calorie allowance to me, I'd rather spend it on something else :P I eat cheese regularly, in many forms. I am not giving…
  • Thanks for the ideas :) will see what I can do!
  • I think I'm going to log what I can while aiming for maintenance amount of calories. On Christmas Day though I'm off with family and my aunt is cooking, so obviously I'm not going to know exactly what goes into her food, and I can't exactly weigh it to find out how much I've had! So I'll either pick a random item out of…
  • I have actually tried this diet, as like a "kick-start" to me eating less rubbish (and eating less in general) and for that initial water weight loss number to give me motivation to stick to watching what I eat more long term. I think I lost 5-6lbs over the 3 days. It didn't go straight back on, I kept it (and more) off…
  • If I know what I'm going to eat in advance, then I log it so I can work out what calories I'm allowed for the rest of the day. Similarly if I KNOW I'm going to walk the 30mins each way to uni and back, I log it all in one go, as it saves time and effort, and I'm more likely to actually keep logging that way. Actual gym…
  • I like it. I tend to drink the fizzy ones though, they just seem more interesting to me, and if I want flavoured still water I have a bottle of lemon juice in the cupboard and use that with tap water. Some people don't like the sweeteners/artificial flavour/sodium/whatever from flavoured water. But it's water all the same.…
  • I have a BSc in Medical Sciences with Orthopaedic Science (basically means I did a year of a failed research project in bone stem cells in the middle of my main degree) and I've just started my 5th year (of 6) of an MBBS programme, which makes me, quite scarily, a real doctor in a couple of years' time :P
  • Personally, I don't eat dinner until 7.30pm. I deliberately eat later so that I feel full until after I'm asleep. If I said no eating after 7pm, I'm sure I would wake up in the middle of the night starving hungry!
  • A lot of posts in this topic I only skim-read through, so apologies if I've missed something that would change this reply! "Hormones in milk are bad" - in the UK, it is illegal to give milk or meat producing cows hormones, so anyone from the UK can disregard this. Secondly, hormones are a combination of proteins and fats,…
  • These all look amazing! I am definitely not a vegetarian either but 100% happy to eat meals with no meat if I can find the inspiration for them and not end up with just a pile of cooked veg on a plate haha! Looking forward to you posting some more recipes. None in particular, just all of them
  • I didn't see it as sadly my tv has been taken over by Olympic-mad parents, but I'll have a look for it on iplayer tomorrow or something, sounds really interesting!
  • I wouldn't say it's bad for you, I think that's a big pile of rubbish, unless you are pushing yourself to the point of falling down with exhaustion, or not eating enough to support that amount of exercise. On the other hand, it might not be necessary for what you are trying to achieve. If, as some people have said, you…
  • Maybe try changing your position slightly so your tailbone isn't in danger of getting bashed? Or lay a folded-up towel over the seat to make it a bit more padded.
  • I also sorta met my boyfriend through wow too :D we met through mutual friends (in the real world) but first started talking because of said mutual friends on wow.
  • I used to play, but sadly cancelled my subscription earlier this year as uni just wasn't leaving me enough time to play enough for it to be worth spending the money on. I've spent most time playing on The Venture Co., but that server is slowly but surely dying of inactivity, so my guild is in the middle of a transfer to…
  • Ooo thanks, some of these look awesome!
  • My boyfriend organises a bunch of his friends to come over for tabletop RPGs once a week too (or used to, he just moved away), they ALWAYS involve takeaway, chocolate, and often crisps and a mountain of fizzy drinks too... when I'm over there that day of the week it tends to destroy my diet too!
  • I am hoping it was a typing error, and you are actually 5'1, rather than 5'10, if that is how much you weigh. Or 4'10. In either case, you have lost a lot of weight very quickly, and I would guess that it would probably go back on just as quickly if you change back to your regular eating pattern.
