Hey! This group is perfectly timed as I am coming back to MFP after being pregnant and having a baby and all that goes along with that. I lost a little over 50 pounds on MFP before and had a great time discovering how strong and capable and intentional I could be about it, but of course that was before I had to rush off…

Hooray! That's great news.

I started with a dumbbell version of AllPro, but I had a heck of a time with Bulgarian Split Squats, which require more balance than I seemed to possess. Plus there was a lot of stuff to remember (how many sets, a lot of lifts, etc.) and I'm someone who aims for simplicity, so I moved to Stronglifts. I started AllPro last…

Not really a reward, per se, but more of an NSV, perhaps? A few years ago I started a new job in early September, and we got word around the beginning of October that we were allowed to dress up for Halloween. Hooray! I'd just spent my lovely summer nights watching a marathon of Torchwood and Doctor Who, so I decided I…

I bought and watched in on Amazon Prime around the anniversary. It was cool and interesting and well-done in a made-for-TV-on-a-low-budget-without-a-lot-of-time kind of way. The story itself is really interesting and the actors they got were great, but the writing wasn't always cohesive. I might spend $5 on it, but…

I drink wine a few times a week, sometimes whiskey on weekends and have some cocktails or whatnot once or twice a month. No problems at all as long as I log everything and keep a general eye out toward macros.

Thank you all so much! It's great to hear personal anecdotes and know I'm not alone. I've always loved my sleep, and needed a lot to be fresh and energetic, but nothing like this. Hopefully I'll have that energy rebound most people experience, and maybe I'll hold off on the swimming till then. Or I might still try swimming…

Hm... just realized that was unnecessarily long. Let's try again... tl;dr I'm 8 weeks pregnant, used to do a lot of lifting, but for various reasons have been unable to exercise for the last 3 weeks. I want to start swimming but the pregnancy is causing me to be totally exhausted all the time. Do you think exercising will…

Fantastic! Your hard work is inspirational!

I put on a pair of pants this morning that are a size large. Now, they are from a company (Eileen Fisher) with very generous sizes. And they are, perhaps, a smidge tighter than I normally wear my pants, but not so tight as to be uncomfortable. But still. I fit into a size large today for this first time since 2007.

Interested!

I have all kinds of wrist issues, including carpal tunnel, and I can see how just holding your hands at a certain angle repeatedly might cause a problem. As others have said, though, you can pretty much pick any machine (that has a better grip option for you) and reproduce the same effort. I'm a big fan of elliptical…

I did wait to see it on Monday, once it was on Amazon Prime for download. Totally fun, though in part because I don't take Sherlock quite as seriously as some of my other fandoms. A few points for me--when I first watched Sherlock, I'd never seen Benedict Cumberbatch before in anything, so he was the complete embodiment of…

In for curiosity!

I'm in just to see the results--you've built up a lot of anticipation here! I've never been pregnant, so I have nothing to offer, but my husband and I started trying a couple of months ago so I am with you, wondering if every possible symptom presages pregnancy or my period. I am trying not to obsess about it and just let…

Here here! Every time I hear Moffatt speak on this issue, it sounds like he has so little respect for the watchers. Not even necessarily the hardcore fans, but just the people who would like to watch two episodes in a row and have them make cogent sense together.

Thanks! I have to admit that I'm sometimes a little shy of my 120gm protein goal, so I'll resolve to pay more attention to that, especially after a break. I've been doing compound progressive lifting with dumbbells since July, so I figured I was over the major hurdles. I guess my muscles aren't quite in agreement! Warm-ups…

Not a lot to throw in, but my step-mother-in-law followed one of these programs and lost about 150 lbs 8 years ago. She looks great and says she feels great. She's kept the weight off since then, but continues to go to multiple meetings a week and has to call and speak to her sponsor several times a day, even on vacation.…

I get pretty bad shin splints when I run for long. I have, like you, tried a lot of different things. Different shoes, different techniques, different surfaces. Back when I needed to run (I was in the military, so I didn't have a choice), I went to a lot of different doctors about it. The usual "prescription" was to take a…

Thought I'd bump this one more time, since today is the start of November and the kick-off for NaNoWriMo. Anyone else trying to write a novel and be healthy and active this November?
-
Yep, you look amazing! Congratulations on the wonderful success so far!
-
Yes! Both of you are awesome and have a wonderful perspective. Made me smile to read, thanks!

2 week bump! That's like a 2 day bump, right? :)

Hey! I don't know what you need or what will work for you, but in the past I tried to figure out diet and exercise at the same time and failed horribly. What's really worked for me this time around is taking it one step at a time. Since diet is truly the most important part, I really recommend that you focus on that…

You're awesome and your progress shows it. Great attitude to have, and it's very true. I started weight lifting right as I approached 200 lb and plateaued for a month before finally dropping into the 190s. In that month, though, I lost a ton of inches. You're smart to put the scale away for a little while and enjoy all the…

I haven't tried these. Are they different enough from the bench presses to be worthwhile? I can always give them a try and see if I have any problems. What incline should I use (work gym has an adjustable bench)? I don't have any shoulder problems or pain--the problem I'm having is my ulnar nerve gets irritated and causes…

Updatebump! I've just completed my second upper body set this week without OHPs and also without numbness. I'm starting to feel a little bit optimistic about this approach, at least for now. So, new question, if/when you have time: should I do anything to replace the OHPs? Preferably a pull movement. Here's my current…

I'm also 5'8" (okay, okay, 5'7.75") and I weighed 160 for years. At that weight, I wore a 14 and a L in most clothing. I was fairly fit, exercised frequently, but was not particularly muscular. My current goal is to be about 155-160 with ~25% body fat. If you're wearing a s/xs at that weight, it's hard for me to imagine…

No worries! As someone else mentioned, you two have lives and your help has been really wonderful whenever you're able to give it. A quick update--as planned, I took last week off from lifting. I did a couple moderate cardio sessions (30 - 60 minutes) and realized how much better weight lifting makes me feel: more…
