  • Just make sure you get with the trainer again in a month or two to get a new routine... you'll get burned out doing the same few things over and over again! Have fun!
  • I like Syntha-6 either Vanilla or Cookies and Cream.
  • drink more water and ice your muscles! Heat makes the soreness last longer because it expands the muscles and lets the lactic acid get deeper into your muscles... ICE on the other hand makes the muscles contract and push the lactic acid to the surface so that your body can eliminate it faster.
  • Currently residing in Fayetteville, NC but I grew up with the Navy and have lived everywhere from West Coast- No Coast- East Coast and also Germany and England... looking forward to the travels I'll have with the Army now!
  • how long have you been working out for? if you just started working out a couple months ago... it takes your body a little time to catch up and lower your BP... I'm coming from the opposite end and have hypotension (88/54 was my last reading).
  • or count the beats for 15 seconds and multiply by 4
  • voted 5 times for you today! Good luck!
  • This is a good website to help you figure out where you're supposed to be weight wise... it has many different "ideal" weights... but it may help those who focus on the numbers... http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
  • I am 5'8" current weight is 123lbs. Starting weight was 125lbs. I dropped down to 117lbs, and have been putting on muscle mass from working out twice a day. I try not to focus on the number on the scale because it can really start to bother you!
  • Gold Guns Girls by Metric is probably the one song that gets me motivated to get up and go running.

  • I just got tested two weeks ago... I go in for a follow up exam in the morning. My vit D level was 0 out of 40 and my calcium was too high, but that's due to a kidney issue that I have. I just started at 50,000 IU's weekly for 3 months to see if that helps bring mine to normal.
  • Thanks, I have a severe vitamin D deficiency because my kidney's don't synthesize it. I take 50,000 IU's weekly... haven't lost any weight yet (gained 10 though)... I'll be interested to see if taking the supplement will get me past my plateau and recent gain.
  • I suggest having a metabolic blood panel done. I just had one done and they found that I have extremely low vitamin D and too high of calcium. I get headaches, dizziness, muscle fatigue (that could be the 2-a-days though), and I've been extremely tired.
  • Army wife. Husband got back from deployment August 2010... and leaves again March 2012... so we're squeezing our wedding in (finally) sometime between then!
  • What post do you live on in Stuttgart? I used to live on RB and went to Patch High School!
  • Yes I was... My dad was Navy for 26 years, so majority of the moves I have are from him. Only one with the Army so far. I love being around the military! I actually lead remedial PT for my husbands platoon and they all call me "the Devil" because I make them work so hard- LOVE IT! To all the Germany folks, we were…
  • Army wife currently stationed at Bragg- I grew up with the Navy, served in the Coast Guard and I have 23 PCS's under my belt (I'm 26 this year).
  • It takes testosterone to bulk! I take a protein supplement to help replenish muscles after lifting. I usually lift hard 2x. week and then do cross-fit workouts 3-4x/week. And I have no bulk. If you are lifting arms 3x/ week I say do two days of hard lifting (heavier weight for as many reps as you can, 3 sets), and one day…
  • I hit the gym 5 days a week, but I go twice on all those days. At one gym I'll do cardio/ weights/ abs and then later in the day I do about an hour+ of cross-fit. 2 days a week I have volleyball practice (2 hours/ practice) and then on my rest days (the weekends) you can usually find me at the climbing gym or the soccer…
  • @dezil I am hand painting a peacock feather on clear candle votives to give out as favors. I like that you're considering making a donation to an organization- we considered that and instead I decided to hold a 10k fund raiser for the wounded warrior battalion at Ft. Bragg, which will be the day after our wedding.
  • Brides on a Mission: week 8 1. Weight loss/inches lost this week: no weight lost or inches :( 2. Highlight of the past week: (not weight, just something exciting that happened): getting complimented at the cross-fit gym by a guy in the Special Forces that I do better pull-ups than most guys can. 3. Lowlight of the past…
  • The rut is normal for the winter! Logging into MFP helps motivate me through the winter... and I also remind myself that swimsuit season is quickly approaching (at least for us in North Carolina). Something else that got me out of my rut, was to start training some of my friends and dragging them to the gym to make them…
  • I do a lot of cross-fit type workouts which you can definitely do from home... but I also have a free gym membership so I utilize that as well. There's a website that I go to that has some AMAZING at home workouts that require very little equipment and you get a really good burn out of them... www.bodyrock.tv (you just…
  • Keep up the awesome work... it's the small victories that will keep you going!

  • Great post- thanks! I've struggled with body image issues for a long time... even at 5'8", wearing a size 3- I still manage to feel huge. It's tough and I don't think people understand that being on the other side of the spectrum is just as much of a struggle.
  • Height: 5'8" Weight: 118-120lbs Daily Calories: 1200 (I start to force myself to eat because I'm usually full at about 700 calories) Calories burned from exercise: 250-600 depending on the day.

  • It also helps to keep your body functioning at it's best. Your cells need water to perform functions (like breaking down food). The water also helps to flush out any sodium in your body that would cause bloating... it's also a crucial ingredient in combating lactic acid build up in your muscles (the sore feeling when you…
