M-F I am awake 5am-10pm - that's 17 hours. I used to eat breakfast at 5:30am, lunch at 11:30, and dinner at 6pm - I found I was always hungry between meals. Now, I wait to eat breakfast until 8 or 9am, eat lunch between 12 and 1, and eat dinner at 6pm. I find I can (for the most part) go without snacks between meals. Maybe…

Whatever you do, do not read the MFP daily blog. It is a load of crap. If you do nothing else, read the link diane posted. Very useful. Also, the sticky (Announcement) posts here are also useful and should be read by every new member: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/general-diet-and-weight-loss-help EDIT:…

oh my gosh @jlahorn ME TOO. I don't know what it is, specifically, but my fiance has a few under armour shirts that I can't touch. At all. I get this awful feeling and it won't go away until I've sufficiently touched another kind of fabric. I also don't like when a fabric kind of gets caught on my nails. *shudder* ETA:…

ONLY if you chose sedentary as your activity level. Personally, I would just bump up your activity level to Lightly Active and NOT count daily activities - you know, shopping, cooking, cleaning, working, etc. JUST count actual EXERCISE.

Eat what you want, when you want. Just eat less and you'll lose weight. You're already headed in the right direction by signing up for MFP. Just figure out your calorie goal and the first step will be to control your calorie intake - meet but don't exceed your calorie goal and you'll do fine. Take baby steps - you can…

Since you said DVD or free online.. I really like the STRONGER series of workout videos lately. Totally free. Just ignore the fact that they're hosted on Livestrong.com ;) http://www.livestrong.com/blog/10-free-workouts-get-fitter-stronger Also - no need to sign up for their website. Just bookmark the page :) ETA: Why?…

I don't think the people on this site are as qualified as your doctor and/or therapist in determining how much you should be eating while in recovery. Please consult THEM as soon as you can.

Scroll to the very top of the screen and click on the outline of a star, it should be to the right of the title of the post. The star will turn yellow, and then the post can be found in your bookmarked discussions, here: community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussions/bookmarked

Oh that's a good one

French person? :) ETA: Frenchmen, regardless of male or female. Or "every single one of The French" could work too. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_people

The OP is probably from DC and going to school in Salisbury, MD (at Salisbury U?). [My brother goes to Salisbury U.] I'm originally from Baltimore, but I'm living just outside DC, in Fairfax VA. Welcome :)

I took a pole dancing class 5 or 6 times before I moved away from the studio. It was SO much fun! Just make sure to go to a beginner class first hahaha. Also, I went once or twice with a friend and those were the best times I had. We both laughed our way through it. That being said, it was still totally fun by myself :)

I hope "in the cabinet" doesn't mean "stove top" *shudder*

Try www.skinnytaste.com for great (mostly healthy) recipes.

If you want true USDA values, I would not use this method. These entries can be edited by users. Instead, search for "Pork, ground, lean" or "onions, raw" and choose the entry that DOES NOT have an asterisk (*) before the name. These are the entries that MFP initially started the database with, using a direct feed/database…

No one else is quiet with their crunchy nacho chips, why should she worry about being quiet with celery? I was going to say that there's no need to have a snack during a 3 hour movie.. I never eat snacks in the movie theater anymore (used to have cookie dough bites when I was younger) except maybe an Icee. To each his own,…

I don't use the instant coffee, and usually omit the chocolate chips. Your preference, of course.

Here's the black bean brownie recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/black-bean-brownies/detail.aspx

I have a recipe for black bean brownies that is TO DIE FOR. And I'm not normally one to make "healthy substitutions" - I enjoy eating all foods! - but seriously, black bean brownies are something that everyone should try. So rich and fudgy. Mmmm i might bake some tonight!

I've been steaming my "hard boiled" eggs for the past few months with great success. I never had any luck getting pretty eggs after any of the boiling methods, but steaming has been working great! I bring about an inch of water to a boil, then put the eggs in my steamer insert and cover the whole thing. Let the water…

If I may be frank... Homemade goodies, etc. did not get to you where you are now (assuming "where you are" is "overweight" (by any amount)). Eating more than your body requires is what caused you to gain weight. I eat goodies (both homemade and store bought) and am still losing weight because I work those things into my…

Agreed. I stole it from someone else -- I'm not sure where the original person got it from, but I see it everywhere so I figured I would add it to this thread haha.

Just because I see this type of thing ("MFP says to lose 2 lbs/week I have to eat XXX") posted a LOT, I figured I would leave this here: If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to…

You'll be fine. You don't need to increase or decrease gradually.

*shrug* ehh, the internet's not all about morality. lol

Not to start an argument, but I think it's more like standing in a store talking about how the marketing department's "impulse buys" in the checkout lane aren't going to fool you!! haha I love adblock

I've heard there's a website too...

Also - I made a pumpkin pie last year with half the recommended sugar and the appropriate sweet & low substitution for the other half of the sugar - no one could tell the difference and it cut a lot of calories! Good luck!

For the best incorporation, I would add it to the liquid prior to cooking. I'm just imagining not being able to stir it into hot oatmeal very well..
