  • Wow, that dressing sounds so good!!
  • YES! That's what I use on chicken. I don't know why I thought it wouldn't be good on steak haha. I made the steak last night with a sprinkle of kosher salt and some cayenne pepper [ETA: and garlic powder!]. Not bad for a rush job. Biggest mistake was not letting the cast iron heat up all the way and therefore not getting a…
  • bump for newbies, since there are no stickies anymore :(
  • I follow the meat-starch-veggie when I'm in a creative rut. Or when I just don't have time to make anything "fancy". Last night I made seared steak with broccoli mac & cheese. Basically the meat-starch-veggie, but the starch and veggie were combined haha. I don't think it really matters though. Just eat whatever makes you…
  • We're twins! I'm 5'3" and currently 120.5. I literally have remained the exact same weight for weeks. My goal is 115-ish, but really more of an appearance goal than a strict weight goal. I started at 128-ish. I log on every day, log my food every day (with the exception of my birthday  haha), and am generally…
  • I don't have a grill (had a george foreman but it no longer works) and have had good results getting a good sear on a cast iron skillet. If the steaks are about 1 inch thick, how long do you think they will take to come to room temp (fridge is set at 37F).
  • I was just going to recommend internet grocery delivery service. When I had surgery on my foot, I used Peapod (by Giant). It was very easy, super convenient, and I got a ton of free delivery coupons by signing up for their emails about a month before I needed to use their services. I know in the US, Safeway also delivers.…
  • Last year I made shaved brussels sprouts with pancetta: http://www.wegmans.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10052&catalogId=10002&productId=781013 They were incredible! I also made roasted butternut squash with spinach and craisins:…
  • What are traditional Canadian Thanksgiving foods? The same as in the US?
  • Not sure he said on top of muscles specifically. I think it's likely that in the lean areas the fat is just moving around and pushing through the under layers of skin. They'll go away eventually. I was never really overweight, but when I lost a few pounds the piezogenic papules stopped happening to my feet.
  • I first thought lipoma too, but aren't they usually bigger? I wouldn't consider them "pebbly".
  • I get what I think you're talking about on my heels. It's a herniation of subcutaneous fat. Not sure what it's called when it occurs elsewhere, but in feet, it's called Piezogenic papules from http://www.podiatrynetwork.com/document_disorders.cfm?id=121
  • Ahh I usually don't read these topics but I'm glad I did. Almost same thing happened to me on day 4 of my new pack. Weird spotting for 5 days along with wave-like cramps every few hours. I've been on the pill for ~10 years so I guess it isn't breakthrough bleeding because doesn't that only happen in the first few months of…
  • 2 adults (me and fiance) Northern VA Shop at Wegmans We spend $125 per week, so $500-$625 depending on whether the month has 4 or 5 Fridays lol I make dinner at home 5-6 nights per week and we eat leftovers for lunch and misc stuff for dinner Friday before we go shopping. We go out to eat once or twice per month & that's…
  • After cooking and draining the pasta, weigh the entire cooked amount. Divide by the number of servings of dry pasta you put in the pot, and this number will be the weight of 1 serving of cooked pasta. Note that this calculation will need to be done EVERY time you make a pot of pasta, because the ending weight will be…
  • I would be SO disappointed to find out my donut was a bagel dressed up like a donut. Come on, they don't even have the same texture!
  • I think the OP is talking about when you click "change goals" on this page: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/my_goals and then click "Custom" OP - if this is what you're referring to then the fitness "goal" here is only used so that it shows up on your Exercise diary as a goal to hit. It doesn't have any affect on your…
  • Yesss so great!
  • No no no no no. When MFP says 1 cup of cooked lentils is 230 calories, they're referring to 1 cup of cooked lentils. To get 1 cup of cooked lentils, you'd use ~1/3 cup of dry lentils. Using the USDA data I gave above, 676 calories * 1/3 cup = 225 calories per 1/3 cup DRY, If you're eating 1 cup of cooked lentils, and you…
  • The USDA website (http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/foods/show/4782) shows that 1 cup of dry lentils (192g) is approx 676 calories. The website also shows that 100g of dry lentils is 352 calories. Then use the same methodology as my response above for calculating serving sizes of cooked lentils. And yes, the volume of cooked…
  • Calculate the calories of the dry rice (for simplicity, let's say 100g of dry rice has 100 calories. Then 500g * 100cal for each 100g = 5 * 100 = 500 calories in the whole pot. If you cook it with plain water only, the pot will still contain 500 calories. However, because rice soaks up water, it will weigh more. What I do…
  • I use Land o Lakes Light Spreadable Butter with Canola Oil because it's spreadable right out of the fridge and only 50 calories per tbsp. I use regular unsalted butter sticks (store brand) for baking. ETA: I also use olive oil and/or canola oil, depending on what I'm making.
  • Lately this is what I've been drinking: Peppermint herbal (caffeine free) tea with a splenda/sweet & low, depending on if I'm at work or home drinking it Earl Grey black tea with 2 tsp skim milk and a splenda/sweet & low I saw a pumpkin spice tea at the grocery store and want to try that next. I didn't pick it up because I…
  • http://sallysbakingaddiction.com/2012/11/17/lightened-up-pumpkin-spice-bars I haven't made these yet but plan on doing so this weekend. Ingredients: 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 cup whole-wheat flour 2 teaspoons cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2…
  • YES!! The Five Guys website's listing for fries INCLUDES the "extra" fries they give. I can't remember where I saw that, but it was an official statement from Five Guys. Eat away and ENJOY THOSE DELICIOUS FRIES!!!
  • I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007GAWRS/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I bought it in 2011 for $21.98 (I checked my order history haha) and it has been fantastic. Still on the original batteries.
  • MapMyFitness will auto-calculate calories, as GibbsGirl13072 said, but you can also edit them yourself, either before or after you save the workout (saving syncs it to MFP). You can make the edits either in the app or on the website (or on MFP itself).
  • Take a look at where it says "Your Recipe Box" when you click on the Recipe tab. To the right it says "View: Recent" - you can click that and it will change it to "View: By Name", which sorts the list alphabetically!
  • Thanks for these!!
  • Does anyone have a good (preferably low-sodium) chicken noodle soup recipe? I've been thinking about chicken noodle soup all weekend!
