  • I NEVER eat back my exercise calories --- EVER. Except on Thanksgiving or Christmas maybe. I tried eating them back, and all weight loss stopped. I think they are grossly overestimated on MFP. I've lost 80 lbs in 5 1/2 months diet of 1200 calories per day and intense exercise. I do not buy into starvation mode at ALL.
  • For me personally, 20 min was not nearly enough. I started with the 30DS but did not lose a lot of weight until I really really increased my exercise time and intensity. As I lost more weight and got in better shape I was able to do this. 20 min might be ok for a start, but not for long in my opinion. You just can't burn…
  • In 5 1/2 months I've lost 80 lbs totally through exercise, 1200 calories a day and logging every bite into MFP. I almost never ever eat back exercise calories. Only on special occasions or holidays or when I have a 'cheat' day. I think they are wwaaaaaayyyy overestimated on MFP. I tried eating them back for awhile, and the…
  • Think it partially depends on genetics and partially on how much weight/fat you have to lose. 80 lbs down, I've gone from a 42D to a 36B. 36B was my natural size before I ever got overweight, so I guess I am just returning to what God gave me! :)
  • I highly recommend Jillian Michaels DVDs. It's like having a personal trainer in your own home without the cost. Huge variety of workouts in all the different DVDs she offers---everything from kickboxing to weights to heavy cardio. I would start with 30 Day Shred. It's like 25 minutes, so really fast and easy to work into…
  • Congratulations! I currently have only ONE pair of jeans that fit at all - size 10. All my others way too big (started at an 18). I was an eight at my best, and that's what I'm trying to get back to. So I really don't want to buy any until I reach my goal. I don't want to waste money!
  • I have one and I absolutely love it. I highly recommend it. It automatically uploads to MFP and calculates your steps and calorie burn. I could not lost the weight I have lost without it. I wear it everywhere I go. It really made me conscious of how little I was moving before I started my weight loss journey. I started at…
  • 78 lbs in 5 1/2 months (June 16 2012 start date). Diet and exercise only, no surgery or medication at all.
  • My husband says I talk about my diet and exercise program waaaayyyy too much. So, I've stopped sharing. I work from home and he works outside the home, so he's never here when I work out. I make it a point to exercise when he's not here. Don't need an audience lol. He doesn't even know that I have been doing Insanity. He…
  • I have been called every thing in the book related to being a fatass. I just use it as motivation to fuel the fire to keep losing more and more.
  • Take it from someone who SAT on their REAR for 9 years on the computer at work - and went from 150 to 251 - NO, sitting at work does NOT burn that many calories. No I didn't exercise either and ate too much---but trust me, if I had burned that many calories per day sitting at my computer while I work, would never have had…
  • I would love to lose 10 more lbs by New Year's! Start Weight: 251 Current Weight: 173 Goal Weight for New Year's Eve: 163 Final Coal Weight:149
  • I've eaten 1200 calories a day for 5 1/2 months and lost 77 lbs. Also intense exercise 6 days a week. It is working for me.
  • I have the Polar FT7 on the way - hope I like it!
  • I second all the Jillian Michaels suggestions. 30 day shred good starting point, then No More Trouble Zones and Extreme Shed & Shred.
  • Drop carbs, sugar and sodium, and change up workout routine to something new and more challenging! I hit plateaus all the time. They are psychologically very very frustrating, and probably my biggest challenge to continuing my weight loss journey.
  • My scale goal is 145-149 (I'm 5'9"). Non scale goals are a size 8 and to have a bikini body.
  • I started at 251 and got to 174 in 5 months. You can do it! It is HARD HARD WORK. Log every single bite you put in your mouth into MFP. Whether it's good or bad. It really shows you where you are eating too much and helps you stay on track. Walk walk walk. Then when you can, run run run. Also highly recommend circuit…
  • I went from a 42D to a large 36B or small 36C after losing 77 lbs. I never had big boobs before I got overweight, so I guess I am returning to my natural state! I have lost weight previously on Atkins diets and just other dieting in general, and the boobs stayed. This time I worked out in addition to the dieting, very hard…
  • I had two days way over calorie goal, and today I had a normal good day. I was out of town at relatives for a whole week, so I don't consider two bad days to be too bad. The rest of the time I was under calorie goal and I exercised every day except Thanksgiving itself. I wanted to enjoy the holiday. I did, but I wish I…
  • I lost the first 55 of my 77 lbs walking and 1200 calories per day. I walked 6 to 9 miles per day six days a week. It definitely definitely works. I have started running now, but I still walk a lot.
  • Congratulations on your baby and your weight loss!! You have worked very hard and have been very blessed!
  • So very proud of you! Congratulations!! Best wishes making it all the way to goal! I've lost about the same amount you have in the same time frame too, so I know exactly how hard it is!
  • I started C25K at about 198 lbs at the suggestion of a MFP friend. I thought there was no way. My suggestion--just start it--and stay on whatever level you need to--you don't have to move to the next level until you're ready. I am confident if you can do 30DS you an do Level 1 / week 1 of C25K with no problem. I have lost…
  • Popcorn, Hershey's kisses only 6 or 7, cake on birthdays or holidays or other special events---I try to just eat sweets less and far less often. I would say I have a 'treat' about twice per week. I also include peanut butter, which I love, in the treat category for me.
  • Congratulations! So proud of you! I hope to be where you are very soon! Thanks for sharing this with us!
  • Weighing more than my husband who was a college football linebacker and a big guy Feeling fat rolls shake when I laughed Weighing a LOT more than I ever had even 9 months pregnant Seeing the scale go over 250 to 251 my all time high Seeing size 18s get tight Going on vacation to Key West, Florida, and barely being able to…
  • 5'9" goal of 145 lbs. large frame with broad shoulders and hips. Current weight 176, so 31 lbs to go. How I am getting to my goal you ask - track every bite I eat into MFP whether it's good or bad, and serious heavy cardio exercise six days per week including walking and/or running, circuit training and Jillian Michaels…
  • I have never heard the term 'whoosh' before today---but after reading this---this happens to me--ALL the time. This is exactly how I lose weight. The stall, the whoosh, the excessive urination---all of it ring like a crystal bell with me.
  • I rarely eat my exercise calories back, unless I happen to be very hungry or a special occasion. I find MFP over-estimates how much each workout burns. When I tried for a time to eat back my exercise calories, I stopped losing. So 95% of the time, I eat very few or none at all of the exercise calories.
