3500 calories does not equal 1 lb lost. I should have lost far more than I have if that were true. I keep track of every step I take and every bite I eat, religiously. I do not lose 1 lb for every 3500 calorie deficit. About half that.

I've always had an issue with this area, even now after losing a lot of weight. I'm a size 11 in jeans right now, so still some weight to lose. I do wear jeans that fit, but I still have a small muffin top. It seems the last place the weight wants to leave! I do Jillian Michaels No More Trouble Zones and Extreme Abs to…

Congratulations! You have obviously worked very hard. You look beautiful and should be so proud of yourself. I'm proud of you!

Began June 16 of this year, as of today (almost 5 months) down 73 lbs. 1200 calories a day, 20000 steps per day tracked on my fitbit six days a week, logged every bite I put into my mouth on MFP, and did Jillian Michaels six days a week. Over 3 hours a day walking and exercising in total. 29 lbs to go.

Hands down, Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred is the best place to start. For free on youtube. It will give you fabulous, fast results!

Polar FT7 heart monitor!

I eat fruit every single day, several times per day. I've lost 72 lbs rather quickly. Diet and exercise only. I would feel unhealthy if I avoided fruit.

I have the same thing happen to me ALL the time. Weight loss is definitely not linear as people have said. I will go for a week or two and only lose a lb or two, then lose 5-6 lbs the next week. I think TOTM has a lot to do with it for me. Just stay the course and do what you're supposed to do faithfully with diet and…

I started my own business 9 years ago and work 12-14 hour days sitting on my butt at my computer as everything is online. Not good for calorie burn. Also having two kids I put on a lot of weight. Managed to lose it all once after my last child, on Atkins, but started gaining back within 3 months. So I haven't been a…

So proud of you!!! I know how that milestone feels. It was a huge motivator to keep me going! I started out at 251 and reached 199 in September. It was one of the happiest days I have ever had. I'm at 179 now trying to get to 150 so we have very similar numbers!

Feel free to add me as a friend. Began with 101 lbs to lose and have lost 72 lbs pretty quickly through diet and tons of exercise--and logging every single bite I take into MFP. I'm 35 and a wife and mother as well. 29 more lbs to my goal. Would love to have encouragement getting there, and to offer the same for you as you…

I track every single bite!

If you do BFBM consistently and eat right, those pounds will melt off - FAST! Glad you found it! I highly recommend. I have all of Jillian's workouts, and BFBM is most effective for weight loss for me. No More Trouble Zones my favorite for toning, and her Kickboxing DVD also great calorie burn.

DO IT! I credit this with helping me lose a lot of weight - fast. I am down 72 lbs mostly because of Jillian Michaels six days a week. Did the 30 Day Shred first, then progressed to her other DVDs which are about an hour each. Banish Fat Boost Metabolism is the biggest calorie burner and my go-to workout at least 4 days a…

I've lost 72 lbs since June 16. It is faster/easier when you are very obese like I was (251 lb start weight). I did it the old fashioned healthy way, 1200 calories per day and lots and lots of sweating. Walking and Jillian Michaels DVDs six days per week. I'm down to 179 with 29 lbs left to go till goal. So it's been…

PLEASE DON'T HAVE SURGERY. I have SOO many stories from neighbors, family, friends who have had this done...with life altering, far reaching negative consequences. For many of them it has affected their health years later. My former neighbor a mom of two about 30, has had four hospital stays for intestinal problems from…

Congrats on your loss! When you have a lot to lose, it DOES come off fast. I started with 101 lbs to lose, and lost 20 lbs in the first month. I exercised and ate right and that was it. I think some was water weight, but it did not come back! I have lost 72 lbs since June 16, so in not even five months. Gone from 251 lbs…

Congratulations on losing some already! And so proud of you for putting yourself 'out there.' I agree with everyone who offered the advice to log EVERYTHING you eat. It really holds you accountable. I also highly recommend a fitbit or something similar to keep track of your daily steps/calorie burn. I began with 101 lbs to…

I'm 5'9" and my goal weight is set to 150. I might change it to 145 depending on how I feel. Currently at 179, 29 lbs from goal. About a size 12. I would like to be back in an eight. I started at 251, so I feel a lot better at 179, but I am definitely not happy where I am at. I think 150 will be a good size for me.

ALL the Jillian Michaels DVDs are excellent!!! Best for beginners is her 30 Day Shred. For more experienced, Extreme Shed & Shred. Banish Fat Boost Metabolism is also fabulous, around a 650 calorie burn for me in an hour!

I work out 100% from home. I walk and job on the street by my house, and I do all of Jillian Michaels DVDs. I used to do Leslie Sansone's, but they did not burn enough calories for me personally. I realize everyone is different. I really like her though! But I had much much better results with Jillian Michaels.

I'm curious about this as well - I would like to purchase a heart rate monitor. I have no idea which model is best. Anyone have any suggestions for a quality, inexpensive one?
-
My goal is set to 150, because that is mid-way in the healthy weight range for us 5'9" girls (129 - 169). But I may try to get to 145. I will see how I feel at 150. 29 more lbs to get there... Congrats to all of you who have met your goals or are getting closer every day!

I was told to log it as 20 minutes of circuit training, so that's what I always did.
-
The variations on my digital scale drove me nuts! So, I went to Wal-Mart and bought an old-fashioned cheap analog scale. Much much better! No fluctuations.

I stayed seriously overweight for 10 years after having my last child. Don't beat yourself up over it; just congratulate yourself you are doing something about it NOW. We can't undo the past. MFP is great for encouraging you and motivating you. I wish you all the best on your weight loss journey. You can do it! It will not…

I am 'weird.' I always stop losing weight a week or even a week and a half prior to the TOTM. Then, during it, I lose weight. A lot. By the time it's over I usually have a 5 lb loss. So it actually gives me a reason to look forward to it!
-
I'm about 2/3 of the way to my goal, and I too feel in many ways it is getting harder. I look and feel better, and it would be so easy just to stay like I am now. I'm 11 lbs from a 'healthy' weight according to my BMI. But I want to finish it off, and lose the 31 lbs that will take me to my goal. I think MFP really helps…

Wow!! Congratulations!! Would love to hear more about your exercise routine, how many calories per day you usually ate, how you ate, or any other advice. YOU DID IT! We all aspire to do the same.

You don't need to order the DVD, everyone, it is on YouTube for FREE!!! So you can start right away. I have lost 70 lbs (from 251 to 181) since June, and I credit the 30 Day Shred with jumpstarting all of my weight loss. I did all 3 levels, then have moved on to her longer 45-60 minute workouts like Banish Fat Boost…
