No-one is telling cigarette/alcohol/ drug or any other kind of addicts to indulge in their fancies. Not everyone is an addict and for those of us who are not and who can eat 'treats' then of course 'a LITTLE of what we fancy' will not do us any harm. Everyone on these forums just loves to take things out of context and…

. Nothing is 'cheating' so long as you stay within your calorie limit. It's about balance. If you are on, say, 1500 calories per day using 1300 on healthy nutritious food and 200 on 'treats' isn't really going to do you any harm.
-
That's a very sweeping statement and does not apply to everyone. It may do if you have that sort of personality but denying yourself only makes you want it more.
-
I eat whatever I want so long as I record it and it fits my calorie budget. This is a life change in eating habits but I am not going to deny myself things for the rest of my life. A LITTLE of what you fancy etc
-
Well done, you look great!
-
Forget about 'diets' it means Dare I Eat This. And definitely forget appetite suppressants (unless it's a glass of water). Think about changing your way of eating. An eating plan is for life - not just a weekend. You may very well lose a couple of pounds this weekend on cabbage soup but it's not sustainable.

I start logging from when I get up...I usually log in what I plan to eat for the rest of day at this time then adjust if necessary before I go to bed. It doesn't really matter if you log from midnight to midnight or 8am to 8am or whatever, you just have to be consistent.

Does anyone ever really love their breasts!! I have always hated mine and the more I lose, the more I hate them. My band size has gone down from 42 to 38 but my cup size is still an H. I've lost 39lbs and i still look fat because of my top half. I've suffered with backache, shoulder ache and I have deep grooves in my…

since apples are different sizes, don't you have to weigh them whether you grow them or buy them?

I'm a Pagan - I know about Feast Days as a form of celebration. We have loads of them throughout the year with food and drink at all of them. (I record on all of them and stay within my limits ....and I'm no goody 2 shoes!!) Reading this thread, it's the eating to excess part I wondered about .... it was a question, that's…

Not being in the USA or Canada,.......sorry but I have to ask - I know it's one of your holidays but why on earth would it be an excuse to spend a day stuffing food and booze in your mouth as if they were going out of fashion? And - do you do the same at Christmas?
-
I don't think it makes the slightest difference when you exercise ...or eat for that matter. It's YOUR weight loss that you are doing for YOU so it doesn't matter what anyone else says you should do. You exercise and eat at times to suit YOUR lifestyle. It's your total in put and output that counts.
-
What a load of utter rubbish! 1200 may very well be too low for the OP and others but what you are quoting as side effects is incorrect. With my GP's blessing, I have been following a 1200 cal per day level for most of this year, it is NOT hard to follow. I get all the balance I need. I eat back 50% of my exercise calories…
-
1200 will not 'wreck your body' -where about on MFP did you see that? But 1200 cals may not be suitable for your height/current weight/age/lifestyle. It's not a 'one size fits all' level, everyone is individual. If your BMR is 1595 that is the MINIMUM you need just to survive without moving. You also need to take into…
-
It should definitely be taken down! It flashes this up even if it's only for ONE day and I have eaten 1150 cals!!
-
It will certainly never die as long as MFP spins this yarn - "*Based on your total calories consumed for today, you are eating too few calories. Not only is it difficult to receive adequate nutrition at these calorie levels, but you could also be putting your body into starvation mode. Starvation mode lowers your…

I don't understand why you think a week on fruit and veg is going to 'prepare' you for a day of over-eating. And why are the foods you will eat 'off limits'? The point of a calorie counted eating plan is that NOTHING is off limits. You just eat what you want...but you eat small amounts. Why do you need to have a binge just…
-
I just wish 'they' would shut up. Stop listening to 'them' and eat or walk whenever you like. You can walk at midnight and eat at 3am if that's what fits your lifestyle.
-
You need to ACCURATELY record your calorie intake. 'Just guessing' is where you can go drastically wrong. Don't guess at quantities - weigh them out. It is a fact that everyone who guesses underestimates intake and over-estimates exercise output The stark truth is ......You can't say that MFP doesn't work if you don't use…

It's not about apologising it's about asking her WHY she doesn't want to support your weight loss and healthy eating. Doesn't she want you to be leaner and healthier? If not -why not? Is she overweight herself? If so is she in denial about needing to lose weight? Are your kids overweight? You need to sit down with her…

Every Sunday morning when I get up - after loo, before shower, no clothes on.

Me too. A good loss is a motivator for me, and since I don't deprive myself of any foods (I just fit them into my calorie + exercise allowance) I don't need to reward myself with food. I'd much rather reward myself with something new (and a smaller size) to wear.
-
The older you are, the less elastic your skin is and the less likely it is to fit your slimmer body. this might be seen as a problem for a younger person who wants to chieve a 'bikini body'. But for someone like me, who is no longer a youngster (except at heart!! :D ) the health benefits of losing weight are worth more…

Sarcasm is unnecessary! Why are people on this site so darned rude? If you can't be helpful or at least polite then don't bother to post.

/ Map My Walk tells me how fast I am walking ...I don't estimate my speed. Although it's not difficult to work out when you know how far and how long it takes.
-
So ALL the other sites are wrong? I don't think so. Map My Walk estimates calories burned by taking into account the terrain where you walk, how steep the inclines are etc. and gives a higher figure than MFP. Even the calorie recorder on a treadmill gives a higher figure. No way are ALL of them wrong.
-
What does the twittering of some numbnuts at the gym matter? Just get on the treadmill and ignore them....or walk outdoors during 'that' week. If this is your first month then it will be depressing for you when this happens but it's just part of process - some weeks you gain, some weeks you lose...just keep going through…
-
I don't have binge days either...I just eat what I want all the time - and that includes cake etc - I just don't eat much of it. If I crave chocolate, I have chocolate ....I just factor it into that day's calorie total. That's not to say I don't go over my calorie allowance occasionally but if I do it isn't the end of the…
-
Why on earth should you cut out sweets altogether? This about changing for life so if you deny yourself things you enjoy you will not be able to sustain it. All you have to do is count the cals in everything you eat and keep within your allowances. This INCLUDES - SOME chocolate/cake/ice cream or whatever. Remember it…

EXACTLY!!! If it was 'loose' weight it might fall off more easily
