  • When you start weight loss programme you normally see a good loss in the first couple of weeks then it steadies to around an average 1lb a week. It's not linear so don't be surprised if some weeks it goes up a bit, some it stays the same and some you lose more. The more you have to lose the greater the losses can be at the…
  • Don't talk about it - just DO it!!
  • If she's 60 years old and slightly built, she doesn't NEED more than 1500 calories a day.
  • There is no such thing as 'starvation mode'!! Stop obsessing, eat healthy foods and STOP WEIGHING DAILY.
  • Andrew CAR- NAY- GEE came from Scotland and that is how you say it...with a hard 'G' And for the record - it's Edin- buh-ruh- NOT Edinboro or Edinburg; Glas GO not Glas-GOW and Aber-DEEN not AH -berdeen. There's American 'English' then there's PROPER English!!
  • Did he specifically tell you to start at 1200 cals per day then reduce until you were on 600 per day or did he mean to reduce by 100 cals per month until you had reduced BY 600 cals. I think you should check with him exactly what he meant.
  • I don't 'get' cheat days or cheat meals. Who or what, exactly, are you cheating? If you have set yourself a calorie allowance and stick to it 90% of the time - going over your 'limit' occasionally isn't the end of the world. If you 'deprive' yourself of certain things, you're just going to want them more. You say you…
  • It depends on your build, skeletal size, genes, age etc etc etc Your bust size depends on your rib cage - have you measured UNDER your bust. If that is 34 or more you can't have a 34 bust measurement. Your hip size depends on your pelvis - if it is wide you can't have a small hip measurement.
  • NONE of these shakes or meal replacement scams teach you about nutrition or portion control so as soon as you stopping buying their crap you will gain any weight you've lost. It's far better to eat a healthy sensible diet, control your portions and exercise more. Yes it's that 'secret' diet - eat less, move more! It's…
  • It's not a 'fail' - just repeat the weeks, go back a week, repeat again....until you feel comfortable. Don't run too fast - you're not racing anyone but yourself. Just don't be so hard on yourself. Whatever you are doing it's more than the person sitting on the couch watching TV and eating burgers. x

  • My pet hates? 'Your body will go into starvation mode if you fast 2 days a week' - RUBBISH ! It will NOT. 'Muscle weighs more than fat' - NO IT DOESN'T!! 1 lb of muscle weighs exactly the same as 1 lb of fat - it is just less bulky and takes up less room. And from overweight friends who, basically, eat too much - 'it's ok…
  • The rice cakes I use are 29 cals each and make a great bread substitute.
  • Did you consume 10500 calories? I doubt it. You had a big meal last night...you weigh more today! Do the math! Weighing after a big meal is just setting yourself up for disappointment.
  • a. This isn't your forum ...it's a public forum b. If you don't want comments that you might not like, then don't make such a silly post. It's not a 'setback' - it's obsessive behaviour. Step back and take a look from an outsider's point of view.
  • This is just obsessive behaviour....ONE meal does NOT make you gain 12lbs.
  • Are you kidding? You ate a huge meal then weighed yourself a few hours later??? WHY???? And why are you asking such a daft question? Did you eat a bucket of pasta and drink a gallon of liquid. Weigh yourself once a week at the same time. Stop obsessing!
  • You don't count meals - you count calories and stay below your TDEE.
  • The time you eat makes no difference to weight loss...but the AMOUNT you eat does! If you gained - you ate too much.
  • 16:8 isn't a 'diet' - it's just a version of Intermittent Fasting. 16 hour fast: 8 hours where you eat healthy and below your TDEE
  • That would equal 600 calories per hour. NO WAY!!! I only use 200 calories RUNNING for 30 minutes. A slow walk for a mile (say 20 minutes) would be no more than 100 calories.
  • Just repeat the weeks until you feel comfortable doing each one. And don't try to run too fast. You should not be getting a 'stitch' on week 1. And your heart should not be racing like that at your age. I don't have a heart rate like that when I run and I'm 67. Slow down, who are you competing against? No-one! You can…
  • Sometimes it's hard to stay motivated. Just think about those grandkids and how they will love it when Grandma can join in activities with them. Stick their photos on the fridge door to remind you. Imagine what you will look like when you lose the weight and the clothes you might wear. You want to be healthy for your…
  • At your height and current weight 1200/1300 calories is far too low. You need to calculate your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) and your TDEE(Total Daily Calorie Expenditure) - there are loads of websites to do this, just Google it - and aim to eat ABOVE your BMR and NO MORE than your TDEE.
  • Good for you!! Everything works if you go about it the right way. I've lost 49 lbs this last year using the 'more output, less input method too!
  • I have had this problem on and off for many years. I have had thyroid tests and, in fact, just about every test known to modern medicine, I have had many different treatments both internal and external. I was part of a research programme into hair loss. It is not related to stress, depression, weight loss or any…
  • Lose another 18 - 20 lbs to get to my target get fit enough to take part in the Breast cancer - 5k 'Race for Life' Live for a long long time
  • All these shakes/meal replacements are a rip off. Nothing, but NOTHING, replaces a healthy balanced diet...certainly not a glass of toxic chemicals.
  • 'Doctor' Jung?? The new 'diet' messiah!! Another load of crap like Atkins and Dukan. So a calorie deficit doesn't work? That'll be why I am only imagining that I have lost 45lbs using calorie deficit. Just another 'DON'T EAT THESE HORRIBLE CARBS' guru who spouts a few miniscule truths encased in a load of total rubbish. OF…
  • I'm not sure what eating 'clean' actually means. It seems to depend on who you ask. You are losing weight therefore whatever you are doing is working for you. I eat whatever I want but keep within my TDEE. It works for me, I've lost 43lbs so far this year with 18lbs to go to target. Losing weight and keeping it off is a…
