I look at my calorie goal daily, not weekly. I've tried it and it confuses me. That said, it works for many people. Occasionally I will eat so much less one day that I do make it up over the next couple of days, especially after a big workout. But if I go over I don't worry about eating less the next day. I figure I'm…

That's one of my favorite skinnytaste recipes! Soooo goood w/the cilantro lime rice from the website too, if you need a side dish

I weigh them before I cook them

From the usda website a "raw, unprepared" sweet potato is 86 calories per 100 grams. Here's a link to their food database. Type in "sweet potato" in the box and you can choose from the entry that most closely fits how you prepare yours. http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/foods

HAHA totally this. Sometimes I'll manage to get a very heavily breathed "hi" out but that's rare. But usually just a nod and a smile.
-
Are you weighing your food or are you just using entries from the database? If you're not weighing it, then there's really no telling how much you're really eating. Also, don't use the generic entries from the database. If there's not something in there, enter it manually or create a recipe if you will be using it often.…

Take a long walk or bike ride or run a little harder and longer tonight. You'll be fine :) I understand the guilty feeling but like others have said, two cookies isn't going to do you any harm.

Definitely do both- don't wait to start lifting!! Look up some programs online and get started. I've noticed a decrease all over pretty proportionately, and I run 3-4 times a week and lift 3 times a week.

When I'm at home, I weigh everything. I'll use measuring cups for baking/cooking but I also weigh them for calorie content. I guesstimated a lot before I bought my food scale and I was shocked to see actual serving sizes. Also, when I started measuring out things like rice in a measuring cup and spaghetti on a scale, it…

^^ This. Eat what you want, in smaller portions, and make sure it fits into your calories. Leaving out certain food groups doesn't work.
-
That's awesome!!! Congratulations :) That is just about my current pace for a 5K, if I could talk myself into continuing to run after 1.5 miles.

1 bottle/day or a week? It's probably water weight since you're just starting out. You definitely need to be sure you're drinking plenty of water. And even though you might have cut down to 1 bottle of wine (which is good!) there are still tons of calories in 1 bottle. I think I logged one once that was 960 (I had a bad…

If you work out in the evenings, maybe try getting up an hour earlier and working out in the morning. If it's an option, fill up with mostly vegetables and if it's available and you need something sweet, fill up your plate with fruit. Take small portions so you can still enjoy but don't go overboard. What I have started…

This has actually happened to me the past couple of nights and also in the mornings when I wake up. I haven't been drinking as much water lately so I'm thinking that may be my issue (only b/c I got a decent amount yesterday and woke up w/o any problems this morning). I would try what another person said and drink some tea…

It's a struggle and takes a lot of will power but you will get there. It sounds like you have the desire and motivation to do it. I just recently got to the point where I want to run to de-stress and it's an awesome feeling. My workouts are so much better when I'm working out anger or stress. I had a fight with myself the…

I second www.bodybuilding.com. Just do a search for "workout" on your phone's app store and several apps should pop up. Then you can read reviews and pick the best one for you. Bodybuilding.com does mix in the free weights but it's nice b/c it changes up the workout. I hate being stuck on machines for my entire workout.…

I think I started noticing my clothes were too big around 15-18 lbs lost. I still wear most of them with my belt a bit tighter, but just this past wkend I had to breakdown and finally get rid of a couple of shirts and 2 pairs of work pants. I am able to dry most of my pants/shirts now b/c I find that they are too large if…

1. 26 2. 5'3 3. 171 4. I have a desk job but I try and workout at least 4-5 times per week. I run between 1.5 and 2.5 miles 3-4 times a week and I lift weights. 5. 1960 6. It's going to be a long road and you're going to have off days and good days. The main thing is to stick with it. If you go over on your calories one…

I like it for a change from rice. I use barley the same way. I like the nuttiness and slight crunch of quinoa, plus one batch usually lasts me 3-4 meals as a side dish. I prefer to use it in stuffed peppers in place of rice. I'm stuck on steel cut oats at the moment so I haven't ventured to using it for breakfast.

Not sure if any of these qualify as "clean" but here are some of my favorites: 1. Parmesan crusted- 2 tbsp grated parmesan, 2-3 tbsp mayo mixed together and spread on top of chicken, then bake 2. Sauteed in olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, set aside, toss spaghetti or your favorite pasta in the pan until coated, once…

Great work girl!!! I enjoy watching your progress updates on my page too. You're so motivating. Keep up the hard work!

It's just a matter of doing it, even when you don't want to. Otherwise, it's easy to fall back into bad habits. I buy a ton of fresh veggies and fruit and have them ready for the week in the fridge. When I cut up watermelon or rinse grapes I get out my scale and I make a couple of separate containers for my snacks/lunches…

Do you have a food scale? If so, weigh out the gram amount listed on the serving size.
-
That's amazing for 2 months. Great progress, keep it up!!!

I quit drinking a while ago for different reasons, but I definitely attribute quitting to my ease of weight loss. A couple of years ago the drinking was definitely what was holding me up.

I had a new under armour front zip bra and I was on the treadmill in a white t-shirt. Unbeknownst to me the zipper had come almost completely undone. I slowed down from a run to a walk and tried to fix it but eventually had to get off the treadmill (which meant I lost my spot b/c there was a line waiting for them) and go…

I would think they still work your upper back and triceps if your holding yourself up with those muscles rather than putting all your weight on your knees. But as far as your core which is worked during regular push ups I don't think it engages much. I started out only being able to do 1-2 regular push ups and probably not…

I used to have a problem going way over and just not caring about what I ate or how much. But then something clicked and I started caring about it and logging just as I do throughout the week. As others have said, we have structure through the week so it's easier. Since I've been at this seriously for about 3.5 months I…

I love quinoa and I love all things Mexican/southwest flavored. I can't believe I haven't thought of this before. Thanks for sharing!! :)
