Fashionable hat.

I count workouts at the gym, running, and biking. If I go out and do yard work, chopping wood, mowing the lawn, or anything else, I don't count it.

Google is your friend. Just type in "5k races in Iowa" or whatever state you live in. If you want to travel somewhere to do it, simply replace Iowa with Las Vegas or Hawaii or New York City. Most likely one of the top links will be active.com like lisaanne mentioned.

I lost over 60 lbs, but did it over a year or so. I did it simply by counting calories and exercising (cardio). The more I lost, the easier it was to do the cardio, so now I'm at my goal weight and training for a marathon. But I'm still using this website to track my information. The only suggestion I have besides…

Probably stay. I just ran 7 miles at a 8:53 minute per mile pace. I'm exhausted. I don't have the strength to run away.

I give up. You have won me over. Starting tomorrow I will eat nothing but Twinkies, and I will feel great.

Maybe because there are multiple reasons for cancer. Multiple genetic and environmental causes. If I can remove one or more of those causes, it gives a lower probability of getting cancer. Glad to hear your mom will make it. My mom didn't make it. Will be 8 years in May since she died of lung cancer. 2nd hand smoke at work…

No. Sharpen your reading skills. I'm saying that if they find out the stuff is bad, I'll be glad I didn't feed it to myself and my wife and kids. I said nothing about being happy that others suffer. But since that is the conclusion you jumped to, I guess that is how you would feel. I do, however, consult for a number of…

I agree that there are real foods that are loaded with calories. And I agree that some foods are only minimally processed, and are still fairly healthy. But my definition of processed doesn't mean grabbing real food and chopping or blending it up. I am not concerned with reaching any goal weight. I already did that by…

Here's my take from doing lots of research from documentaries, the interwebs, and reading. Of course, there can always be bias in anything you read or watch, but you can follow up and do your own research. I stay away from processed foods as much as possible, but I still eat them occasionally. Most processed foods are so…

I believe that MFP is in cahoots with various clothing manufacturers. As I dropped weight, I had to go out and buy new clothes. I think the clothing industry gives a kickback to MFP.

I agree with others. Don't stop. Don't be worried about daily fluctuations. Look at your average gain/loss over a 2-3 week period. If it averages up, either you are miscalculating your calories, or you can manually adjust the calorie goal MFP gives you. I'm currently just maintaining my weight since I hit my goal. MFP told…

I've dropped from men's size 40 to men's size 32 in the past year. I am now wearing clothes that my 18-year old son has grown out of, so I don't have to buy new stuff. And it's still a bit big, especially cause he's taller than I am. So if I am wearing clothes from my son, are those considered hand me downs or hand me ups?

I lost 60 lbs. Not going to lose any more, because I'm at a healthy weight, and using MFP to maintain. I started easy and built up. Started by simply counting calories. Then I started cutting out junk food, and replacing it with real food. Then I started walking a mile a day, then added in a quarter mile of jogging, then a…

I used to go to PF. Price was right: $10 per month. I really don't care what other people do or if they grunt, as long as they aren't yelling or anything crazy. I switched to Anytime Fitness because it is open 24 hours, 365 days per year. PF actually closed around 8 or 9 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and with my…

I noticed the same thing. I've read on the interwebs (and you can always believe 100% of what you read on the internet) that eating lots of sweets increases your addiction to them. Especially if it is processed foods, because corporations always add stuff in to the food to keep you coming back and buying more. Cut out that…

I originally started because I needed to lose 60 pounds, and wanted to be able to keep up with the kids, go biking, take up running, quit smoking, etc. Now I've met all those goals, but I find that MFP is great for helping me maintain my current healthy weight. Plus I like the social aspect of it. I have groups of friends…

I ride a gym bike that has a big video screen that shows me biking along the course against other computerized bikers, so it's like a big video game, so I don't have a problem there. If I'm biking outdoors, also not a problem, because I love to look around and enjoy the scenery. Finally, if I'm biking indoors in my…

How you doin'?

I like to have a little bit of everything at potlucks or buffets, so when it comes to recording the calories, it is next to impossible. I seriously might have eaten 1 -2 spoonfulls of 20 different things. I basically just make it up using my best guess, knowing I'm probably off by hundreds of calories or more. I don't know…

True. It's either spiders or the Tickle Monster who would always invade my dreams as a kid. TNP is married.

The fact that they are on MFP, and therefore taking control of their life.

Keep with it. It's really fairly simple (at least to say). Simply count calories accurately and stick to the plan. Sometimes you need to manually adjust your calorie goal, but I found the MFP calculations to be pretty much on target. If you can get some exercise in, that helps too. Remember that exercise gets easier as you…

Wow. Just Wow!

Even though the MFP calculator tells you your goal is XXXX calories, you can always manually go in there and change it. I suggest doing that - in your case add on another 100 or 200 calories and see if that works. Rinse and repeat until you find the calorie goal that is getting you your desired results (weight loss, weight…

I actually am now wearing jeans that my son grew out of in late high school. We were going to save them as hand-me-downs for my younger son, but I have them now. So if I am wearing my son's old jeans, is that still considered a hand-me-down, or a hand-me-up? Any philosophy majors out there want to take a stab at that one?

Chinese buffet. About 4 months ago. Not sure what all I ate, but I had at least one of everything. My stomach hurt really bad from overeating at the end, and I was in a food-induced stupor. Because of that, I wasn't at all hungry until dinner of the next day. Took me 5 days of working out and eating well before my weight…

I'm 5'10" male. Went from 215 to 160. My jean size went from 38 to 32. I doubt that there is a certain number of pounds for each size because of fat placement on different individuals, and even if you hold body type constant, it's probably more of a percentage of fat lost instead of a set number of pounds. For example from…
