I run.

I like this. Great weekend and great effort.:drinker:

My local store takes shoes back used up to 30 days later with receipt.

I would never in a million years run a marathon that I don't get credit for doing. What a waste of time. You can say you did it but no one will ever believe you as you won't be in the official stats. How dumb.
-
I love mine, don't go anywhere without it. It's a much better way to gauge my effort than how I "feel".
-
You will get used to it. Give it few more classes. And whenever you start to get sore just stand up, give your butt a break.

I have to be extremely careful with my food if I want to lose weight. I workout over 10 hours a week with running, biking and swimming and I haven't lost in ages. It's just too easy to out eat the calorie burn.

This is a huge deal!! :drinker: Congrats!!! And go get fitted for shoes at your local running store, not Foot Locker or one of those places. Tell them your budget and they'll be able to suggest something for you. Keep on running!!

I just cleaned out my closet and gave all the cotton ones to my daughter's to wear as pajamas. They love it.

I think band aids are the answer. I am not a man but I am married to one who runs and he uses those little spot bandaids. I buy them in bulk. He tried body glide and it didn't work at all.

I would say that sounds like a classic case of IT band syndrome.

+1 Solid advice there. I am just going to assume that you are talking about a full 26.2 mile marathon? I know sometimes people who don't run refer to other races as marathons. This is a VERY long way and you can not just "wing" your way into running one. It's going to require an absolute ton of dedication and discipline. I…

Wow!!! That's huge! Congrats!

If you are not losing weight then you do not have enough of a deficit. You need to eat less or exercise more. Just try to end every day in the green. Weigh and measure all your food. And DON"T over estimate your calories burned. That's a big one. Don't rely on the numbers in the MFP data base for calories burnt. They are…

Phone, headphones, and Garmin.

Usually between 1500-1600 per day. I did not eat back exercise calories however. So I had a bigger deficit. I also was not very accurate about my food at the time, I measured stuff but didn't have a digital food scale. So in reality I was likely eating a couple hundred more per day than I thought. So it all balanced out.

Thanks for the advice. I think I've figured out something that will work. Hopefully.

I lost the majority of my weight, probably the first 40 pounds when I was doing 20 miles a week or less. Once I got into training for a half and then a full its been a major challenge to lose the last 15. I had to fight for every one of those 15 pounds. The hunger definitely outweighs the burn. When I lost the first 40 I…

Can we do a worst 5k's in America? How about all color runs? Running through a parking lot while people throw **** at you? No thanks.
-
I would like to do a one mile. All the ones around here are kids fun runs and not timed. I suppose in the city they have them for track clubs and such but that's a little out of my league.

You must live in a magical place. All I get is "Roaring Traffic" by Cars and "Barking" by Dogs.

Runner's high is real. But obviously not the same as smoking a joint. It's more a overall feeling of well being, getting in "the zone" during a run where you feel like you could go forever. I have had the experience a couple times where I could feel the endorphin rush come on, it was like being covered with a warm…

I started cross training because I actually started training for multi sport (Triathlon). But it's been great. My legs have never been stronger from the cycling and my upper body is getting stronger from the swimming. I really think this has helped to keep my running injuries at bay. Once my tri season is over for the year…

I joined way back before I'd ever run a half marathon, just because I wanted to learn more about running from those who are experienced and give good advice. I have learned a ton in this forum. Long Distance running can mean a 5k or a 10 or half or full or ultra. It's all relative.
-
I have used a couple different Hal Higdon plans for my half's and for my one full. I think they're solid. I'm going to mix it up a little and try something different for my next full but not because I didn't like Hal's plans.

I was a total non-runner. Started the C25K app when I was the same weight as you. I'm now 45 pounds less than that and fully converted to full fledged runner. Several half marathons and one full marathon in less than 2 years. Love running.

I have 4 pairs in rotation right now. I have no idea how many I have gone through. I have 2 pairs of Nike Lunarglides that I love, a pair of Brooks Ravenna's that I hate and a pair of Newtons for racing. And I use an app on my phone to track mileage.

My weight fluctuates like crazy. Like a 7-8 pound range. It's frustrating as hell but I know there is no way I can be actually gaining it, I'm not eating enough to gain. Usually if I spend a week eating less carbs than normal and well under my calorie goal it disappears. So it's just water weight. I find the harder I am…
