These are great!!!

My understanding of cross training is that it's another cardio based activity to supplement your running fitness. So biking, swimming, even walking can be considered cross training.

Why not step up to the next level Higdon plan? His intermediate plans have a pretty good amount of mileage and his advanced plans include speed work.

1476 miles in 2013. Not sure what 2012 was but probably about a third of that.

Beef tenderloin and baked potato with all the toppings. Sautéed mushrooms. Pint of Ben and Jerry's peanut butter cup for dessert.

What an incredible year!! Congrats on all your progress and all the best in 2014!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll take another look at the plans and try to figure something out.

Could you try making your shirts less staticky? Maybe launder them differently?

I think you could do it and finish under the 7 hours. However I also think it might be a totally miserable experience. Is there another full coming up that you could sign up for and jump back into training?

Ooh, fun!! Ok my primary goal for this coming year is to be able to train pain free and injury free!! And beyond that I would like to do a 21 minute 5k, a 45 minute 10k, a 1:45 Half and a 3:40 full. Might take more than a year to make those but I'm sure going to try!! I would also like to log 2000 miles in 2014. And I want…

This is what I got before running my 25k and it worked great. The pocket is stretchy and can hold quite a bit of stuff. I never even knew it was there it's so light. http://www.spibelt.com/products/spibelt/the-original-spibelt

If you can get into houston then I recommend Lukes Locker or Fleet Feet. Both great running stores. Good luck!

If you're going for a specific issue I would try and find someone knowledgeable about that issue. I get massages from a sports therapist at my chiropractors office.

Awesome report! You ran a great race. And I really really appreciate the advice about the negative emotions. I will remember that when I run my marathon. Congratulations again!!!
-
Sounds like you're ready for a new challenge, why not go for it?

21:50 at a local 5k this morning. A 3:41 minute improvement from a year ago. Pretty excited about it.

Wear a plastic garbage bag over your clothes to keep you dry while you wait to start and then you can ditch it once you get going. Although I have seen people run their whole race in them too. I personally would wear a hat or a head band to help keep water out of my eyes.

So far for the year I have a full marathon Jan. 19, a 4 mile race in February and a half marathon in March. I am also hoping to do my first sprint Tri this spring. April to September are too hot here to do much for racing.

Bumping.

That is so exciting!! I am thrilled for you!

This is super interesting to me. I have never heard that about going a faster pace but I was just saying that exact thing to my husband this morning. I did 2 races this week and I hardly noticed my knee, especially during the 10k. But it's been terrible during my training runs. Glad to know it's not in my head!

I have a nasty case of ITBS right now and I ran a 25k last Sunday at my fastest pace ever for a long race. My sports therapist basically said running won't cause more damage and it comes down to how much pain can you handle. Ymmv.

Turkey Trot 10K in 50:09. Over a 12 minute improvement from the same race a year ago. So close to cracking 50!!
-
At this point all you can do is trust in the training you have done. You have put in the work now it's time to get your head in the game. You'll be over your cold by the time marathon day rolls around. You need to psych yourself up for the journey ahead, know that you're going to finish even if you have to walk part of it,…

HMSA 25K. 2:18:37. Very pleased with that time.

When racing go out as fast as possible. Everyone knows positive splits are the way to go.

HMSA 25 tomorrow, Sunday Nov. 24.

I get caught out in the rain frequently so for my new iphone I got a Lifeproof case. Shatterproof and waterproof. :drinker:

I can absolutely relate to your story. It's hard to shake off the past. But you are an incredible woman and have done amazing things. Let go of those hurtful feelings and focus on the present. You are strong and beautiful. :flowerforyou:

Running in the rain is fun! Unless there is flash flooding. Then not so much.
