  • Same here! I look forward to my long runs. A chance to really clear my head and just enjoy being outside. One of those 3 weeks is a half marathon so technically I am getting in my long run, but it won't be the same with 499 other people on a 8-ft wide greenway.
  • I won't be doing the treadmill again. I feel sore in places that I usually don't feel sore (at least after running). My inner thighs feel like the day after a ball pilates class. And my shins are achy too.
  • Me too. I go to bed at 9PM Atlanta time. Gotta be up at 4:45am every morning.
  • Yeah, he is taking it very slow with me. After this week, I go 3 weeks without a long run! Of course I have 3 races in a row so that probably has something to do with it.
  • I added the 4th running day for most of March. My schedule got messed up one week so I only managed 3 runs for that week. I ran the trail race and placed 3rd overall, even better than an age group award! I ran the half marathon at a very disciplined pace and felt great afterwards.
  • Now that I have a coach I am going to follow his plan exactly. I have three races: a 3.1 mile trail race, a 4 mile trail race, and a very flat half marathon. I don't plan to race any of those very fast. I've had some nagging hip pain again for two weeks now and my main goal for April is for that to go away. The hip pain…
  • Great runs everyone!! Nice 5K time there Laura!! Y'all are making me crave some Reese's now! I finally decided to hire a coach to work up a custom training plan for me. My wife did it a couple of weeks ago and I really liked what he came up with. I just got my plan yesterday, at least the first 4 weeks of it. He'll add…

  • Group run tonight - 4 miles @ 9:26 pace. Super windy & cold! Winter is not done with us yet!
  • Yeah my wife really wants to do that one!
  • HaHa, I wish!
  • I added and removed a few races but I think this is the final schedule for the remainder of 2014. Some of these are just for fun. The Savannah Marathon is my main target race this year. 4/5 Dirty Spokes Olde Rope Mill 3.1 Mi Trail Running Race, Woodstock, Ga. 4/12 Dirty Spokes Mt Tabor 4.0 Mi Trail Running Race, Dallas,…
  • Ran the Publix Georgia Half Marathon on Sunday. I wasn't going for a PR, just treating it as a training run at an easy pace. And I was helping a friend and wasn't going to leave him behind. Finished in 2:06 and had a ton of fun along the way. And I felt great afterwards.
  • My race schedule has been updated above. Results so far: 1/18 Dirty Spokes Central Park 3.5 Mile Trail Run Race, Cumming, Ga. 33:35 - 5th in age group 1/26 Atlanta Hot Chocolate 15K 01:23:19 - running at training pace 2/1 Dirty Spokes Heritage Park 2.8 Mi Trail Running Race, Watkinsville, Ga. 23:11 - 3rd Overall Male 3/15…

  • Thanks! It was so touching with all the supporters, volunteers, and law enforcement cheering us on. I thanked every police officer I passed by. Another thing that made me happy was my heart rate. It stayed in my "comfortable" zone the whole time! I think my aerobic capacity is really increasing.
  • Today was the Publix Georgia Half Marathon. My wife & I were treating this as a normal training run so no racing it. Our goal was to average 9:30 pace overall and we hit that exactly. We did a 1-mile warmup run then hit the course with about 17,000 other people. It was a total blast running at an easier pace. Saw some…
  • 3 miles last night with the running group. I took it slow @ 10:00 pace. Didn't feel any pain around my hip like earlier in the week. Just a tiny bit of soreness this morning. I finally broke out my new Ravenna 5's and they felt awesome! I'm going to wear those for the half marathon this weekend unless it rains (and right…
  • I'm running a half marathon this weekend as a training run, and will do others that way later in the year. I just plan on running them at my long run pace and will occasionally stop to walk a bit at the water stops. I ran a 15K like that in January and really enjoyed the race when I wasn't "racing" it.
  • Thanks Joe! I'm feeling much better today and will try an easy 3 miles tonight at the group run. I definitely agree about the trails!
  • I would love to go to that!! But way too far for me. I will be anxiously awaiting his new book though.
  • Nice trail run Joe!! Today is supposed to be my track workout but I am doing strength training instead. Got some pain around my hip & IT band and decided that missing a couple of runs this week is no big deal. I'll be seeing the therapist on Friday and hopefully she can loosen things up before Sunday's half. And she'll be…

  • Just got back from doing 9 miles out on the greenway. It was just me & lots of deer out there. I have never seen so many deer on the greenway. And bluebirds everywhere! Even had a big hawk swoop down right in front of me. I didn't mind the 41°F temps and light rain - I was just enjoying nature for a while.
  • Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!! I hope y'all have a great day! Looks like another wet day here, and COLD! But I am getting my long run in no matter what. I'm feeling much better after yesterday's beerfest hangover. And I'm not as achy from the race as I was yesterday. That race was a hard effort - 2.5 miles in 20…
