  • Nope, it's actually about 10 pounds into the overweight measurement. However, DXA scans show that my body fat is a couple points below average so I have that going for me, which is nice.
  • I read a saying once that stuck with me and it might help you: I didn't lose sixty pounds, I lost one pound sixty times. In my case, I lost weight by logging consistently at first, then introducing a calorie deficit and finally adding in exercise. Being consistent and keeping your goals in mind is the most important part.…
  • I could... her profile lists her at 100 years of age, even if she looks nowhere near that. ;-)
  • Personally, I'm with Chaelaz; I eat a ton of fruit and avoid added sugars in things like soda, sauces/toppings, etc. That isn't to say I don't have something with added sugar from time to time, but they aren't really featured in my diet. whitneysin, in your case I would probably only worry about added sugars since they can…

  • Home made pulled pork and 230 grams of raw sugar snap peas.
  • Zombies Run! It makes a game of running, tells a story to entertain, and... zombies! Definitely my favorite running app.
  • What I would look out for is added sugars (HFCS, cane syrup, etc) that are placed into processed foods. Fruit is very high in fiber and has a very low glycemic index so you should be just fine. Fruit juice, on the other hand, usually has a lot of the fiber removed and that raises the GI a bit.
  • You can leave the Fitbit on. When you enter the exercise into MFP just enter the start time and duration along with the calories and Fitbit will take care of the rest.
  • Thank you for taking the time to do that. I've been at work but that was on my list of things to do when I got home.
  • Pretty much. It is entierly possible to get a pretty big surplus early on (for example, I often go jogging at night and sometimes I'll be out running past midnight) and then hours later be at a deficit because overall you didn't do as much work as Fitbit predicited based on your reported activity level. All that said,…
  • Did you have to unlink and then re-link the accounts?
  • It's not haywire. You gained the 400 calories because your activity put you 400 calories above your baseline. However, you "lost" 17 calories from the surplus when your activity level dipped below the predicted baseline. Get out and walk again for a bit and you'll gain them back. This is why I use 20% off of my TDEE to…
  • So far it's a no-go since late Sunday on my account. Not a huge deal, since I just use Fitbit to ensure I stay moving throughout the day (damn you, desk job!) and for the better calorie estimate daily when I'm not able to exercise the way I want to. Now, I've been using Fitbit for a few years now and this is the first time…
  • Hello there, You say you've been on and off and haven't had much success but let me ask you, how long have you been losing weight? If you just started, what exercise(s) have you started up? Diet is the major contributor to weight loss but my personal experience (and bear in mind that 'anecdote' is not plural for 'data') is…
