There has been this week. As far as compared to another program not really. p90x maybe, but the work outs aren't as long.

Breathing depends on what you are doing. Squatting and dead lifting you should be taking a deep breath at the beginning and holding it though out the rep. It fills the chest and stomach cavity and protects the spine

As a beginner I would stick with classic. I would also do a week just doing the workouts without tracking the reps. Just to kind of get a feel for it.
