I probably should have said set a goal of 10,000 steps a day and strive to make the goal. Sorry I phrased that incorrectly. 10,000 averages to about 5 miles. Depends on the size of your stride.

I have myself set at 1200 as well. When you exercise, you are burning calories, which is why your calorie allowance goes up. So, yes, it is the 1200+ whatever you've burned that keeps adding up. I try not to consume more than 1200 on a "light" day, but as your intensity increases, you should try to increase your calories-…
