Thank you for your concern, but I don't think that's really an issue. I'm not talking about cutting weight forever. I'm looking for ways to drop some extra weight - water weight - over a few days. It isn't any unhealthier than people using a flush diet.

I don't really care if it's fat or water, or if I gain it back the next day. I just need to get through the physical! Ugh! I hate that they wouldn't even consider doing a body fat read instead. Nope, has to be the BMI scale to make it fair for everyone. WTF?? How does that make it fair for everyone??

You may have also been in better shape starting than some of the others you've heard from. When I started the C25k, I had already been walking a ton for a few months before that, so when I moved on to running intervals, it wasn't that hard at all. I'm starting it all over again now that my foot is out of the boot (broke it…

I've always been amazed at just how fast the gymnasts are running at the vault. I would think that they have to be at least as fast as the 100m runners, though, as you said, for a much shorter distance.

Yep. Sounds like she doesn't like you and has found a way to get under your skin. Shame on you for letting her. Now, she's won, and you're brought down to sniveling about how no one will love you.

My mom - a nurse - is always of the "then don't do that" mentality, which is an option. Stick to mixing your water with low-cal flavorings like lemon juice, Crystal Light, etc. and avoid ice cold water. But if it really is reflux, you could see bigger issues down the road. If you have insurance, it might be worth the time…

I once spent four or five hours in a bar talking to John Elway about football. At the time, i was a sports writer, so it was an amazing conversation for me. I learned so much about how a quarterback thinks during a game. I have also met Joe Biden, Jesse Jackson, Sr., George W. Bush, and John Edwards. (I worked the Iowa…

Sounds like a bit of reflux. Does it happen with all drinks, or just water? Might want to see a doc if possible to explain what you're dealing with. Do you drink water with food or on its own? Do you try to mix it with anything like lemon, tea bag, etc? Have you tried drinking it hot, cold, and tepid to see if temperature…

I rarely bother with one-day stuff. I may be over one day and under on another. Instead, I look at my seven-day spreads. If I average 1475 calories, I've done exactly what I was supposed to do. I eat when I'm hungry and don't eat when I'm not. One day I may eat 1000 calories and another day 1900. So long as my average is…

My house is referred to as the Big Bang Theory by all of my friends. :blushing: I still love the show, though. :smokin:

It's hard because you've pretty much done it all. After watching the Olympics, I come up with these ideas: Learn to do a complete handstand that you can hold for 30 seconds Row a skull from London to Southend-on-Sea Run 45 miles in four and a half weeks Best I got.

I think that for your 45th year, you should try a triathlon. Obviously, not in the next six weeks, but at some point in your 45th year, you should give that a shot. I think you'd be amazed at how well you'd do. I mean, you already run and swim. Borrow a bike and see where you can go from there.

I've had my BF% done several times in the last few weeks. On the Fat2Fit.com website, their three calculators gave me 42%, 27% and 28%. The scale gave me 41%. And the calipers gave me 39%. I really couldn't care less what number comes up for body fat, because I know that I'm working to get rid of that. What I really want…

You may be the coolest person on MFP. Thank you! :flowerforyou:

Hmm. That's different from anything I've ever read before. Abs are one of those muscle groups that can actually be used/worked daily and respond well because they're meant to be used/worked daily.

Because of core issues, I use the machines for now. And I use the highest weight that I can do 4 reps of 8, plus 5 pounds. So, on the tricep press, I can do 4 reps of 8 on 80 pounds. At 85 pounds, it looks more like 1 rep of 8, 2 reps of 7, and 1 rep of 6. I do that until I can do 4 reps of 8, then do that for a week, and…

Thank you. That's great to hear. I knew it was lactic acid build up, but didn't know if it meant good/bad workouts. Glad to know it doesn't. I'm careful to give my muscle groups a full day of rest between weight days, ie upper body on M, W, F; lower body on T, Th, Sa. Abs every day. Well, that's what it was before the…

A couple of points: 1.) Not all 12 year olds are *kitten*. Just like adults, they come in all shapes, sizes, and attitudes. 2.) Not all *kitten* have bad parents. Sometimes, being around their friends is all it takes to have them doing something they know their parents would kick their butts for. 3.) How you carry yourself…

My point is that she's not comfortable with the amount of muscle that she's acquired, something that any number of women have expressed concern about on these forums. And each time they've done so, they have immediately been told that it's absolute impossible for a woman bulk up too much. The OP has proven otherwise. She's…

Isn't it, though? She's saying her legs are too muscular, ie bulky. Which, as I've been told repeatedly on this site, is impossible for women to get. So, obviously, she's wrong.
-
It's impossible for you to get bulky. You're a woman, and therefore you could not possibly have enough testosterone to build that much muscle. You're just wrong. You can't possibly know what you're talking about regarding your own body, since what you say is true doesn't fit my world view. /sarcasm

 And I bet you look awesome in them, too! Like I said, I get that this is my own weird view of the world, and that there are some really awesome outfits that belie my personal opinion. I, personally, just can't stand it.
