OMG! The kiddo can't seem to read! WTF!

I'm with you, to be honest, and no one would ever consider me an "elite athlete". For me to be on the very edge of a "healthy" BMI, I would have to weigh 135 pounds because I'm 5'2". However, I'm pretty muscular, always have been. (Built like a brick sh*thouse, as my dad used to say.) Not worth it to me to try to get down…

Oddly, so do I, and I have to question it often. I work in medical health insurance with the uninsurable. Having a BMI >30 is an automatic denial for most insurance companies, regardless of BF%. I constantly get bombarded with doctors' notices that the person - despite an "unhealthy" BMI - has a healthy BF%. I guess my…

Except that the OP gave a very specific example of how he, an average person, would be UNHEALTHY if he used the BMI to set his personal health goals. In the last 10 years, I've had multiple doctors tell me to ignore the BMI when it comes to my health. It is, as another poster said, meant for LARGE SCALE observations, not…

 Nah. I don't care if how I dress offends anyone's sensibility, mostly because I know I don't show too much skin or wear anything too tight. Anything else I consider "free expression". :drinker: Well, really, it's more of the "overworked, underpaid, overdone wife and mother" look. I'll dress it up when I'm not the…

I'm sorry, but think this is cute. :blushing:

Maybe you're missing the point of this thread. These are our personal preferences, not hard and fast, don't-you-wear-it-or-you'll-be-mocked-mercilessly-by-the-world fashion requirements. Having preferences does not - despite modern thin skin - make one judgmental in the evil sense of the word. Personally, I prefer the term…

I admit that I wear a lot of red and green together. I'm a December baby, so they're my favorite color combination. :blushing:

DID SHE LOOK LIKE A BRUISE?????

My daughter calls that a Canadian Tuxedo, which tends to irritate my husband, a born and bred Canuck.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

My personal rule of thumb is this: You are welcome to get as many tattoos as you like, BUT... you have to know WHAT you want WHERE you want it for at least two years (yes, two years) before you go and get it. If it changes even a little (color, placement, style), then the timer starts again for two years. If you're going…

I don't know that it's a problem at your size, really. A big chunk of that will be water weight since you've cut empty carbs and upped your fiber. In addition to that, percentage-wise, it's not a huge amount of weight. You're eating properly, exercising well but not overdoing it. Quite frankly, it looks like you've found…

What a waste of a good marriage because of a single mistake.

Sorry, darling. I had four children in five years (my twins were the eldest), and I made time to boil a potato instead of opening a packet for lunch for myself and my kids. You're also doubling your work by making two evening meals, one for the kids and one for your hubby and yourself. You're choosing not to make time for…

Brilliant, and absolutely true.

It can be done, but only if you work out a LOT. You'd have to burn 2000 calories a day, which, for me, is like doing 3 hours on the elliptical every day. Not sure that would be sustainable - or worth it.
-
Up a pound, to 173.6. I'm fairly sure the huge drop last week was mostly water-weight, so no surprise that I'm up a bit this. Hopefully, it will all even out soon.

You're such an inspiration, Sue. SO happy to see your posts every day with a great positive, can-do attitude. You've EARNED your new body, girl! The next 50 will be a walk in the park.

Great job!

Unless she goes to mine, there is at least one other out here. She's more or less just described my gym, too.
-
I joined FP a month ago. The gym is clean, well-kept, and well-stocked with free weights, dumbells, and machines. I rarely have to wait to do my regular work out, and the staff if usually pretty nice. The Personal Trainer is kind of a waste of time, but to go in, work out, shower, and go to work, it's worth the money I pay…

172.6!!! Finally! Progress!!

Brilliant, Berry! Thank you!
-
Berry suggested the same to me last week when my weight loss was averaging 0.5 pounds a week over five weeks and I was feeling defeated. I followed her advice, and this week, I dropped 4.2 pounds. The only macros I really stress over are protein and sugar, and even those don't make me cry if I miss them every now and then.…
-
I ran into this, too. I changed my macros around last week to 35% carbs/ 35% protein / 30% fat and it seems to have helped quite a bit. Ultimately, I needed fewer carbs and more protein. That being said, I exercise quite a bit, too, which might factor into it. You're just going to have to mess around with the numbers until…

Thank you all for your great suggestions! As a rule, I do 3 sets of 8 modified push ups several times a week. I think I'll take all of your advice and do as many regular push ups as I can first, and then fall into the modified, pushing myself harder each time. Right now that's none, but If I keep pushing myself on the…
