I read it and for the most part it is similar to what I am doing anyway. I thought they were very funny. I do still have my occasional coffee or tea, but reading that was one of the big reasons I dumped the diet soda!

Check out the Happyherbivore.com TONS of breakfast ideas and all vegan and low fat. Anything with nuts you can omit them. My favorite breakfast is oatmeal with some crasins mixed in for a bit of sweetness

quinoa...yum! Its usually in teh health food section of the store. use it anywhere you would use rice, salads, pilafs, soup.... I have some on the stove now in a kale, white bean and quinoa stew :)

Well there are carbs..and there are carbs.... You are eating more refined carbs..bread pasta etc, instead of simple carbs like grains beans and veggies. There are a lot of great recipes out there..the happy herbivore is my current fave. They will be high in carbs because they are vegetables. If you do a bit of research you…

when I first went veggie I relied on them a lot as sort of "transition foods" but now I dont buy them at all. they are processed, but I still would pick an Amy's organic burger over meat anyday (Amy's brand is probably the best choice since they are organic and dont use any chemicals to process the beans..morningstar does…

I use soy but sparingly, because I am limiting fat and soy products can be high in fat. Tofu for example is 54% fat...granted its the "good kind" but I am limiting all fats. I think unless you have a soy sensitivity or eat nothing BUT soy you shouldn't have an issue!

Hilarious:laugh: and looking at the source article I was happy to see my plan (combo of volumetrics and vegan) ranks pretty high:drinker:

Earthlings is well worth a watch and so id Vegucated which is on netflix now. (it covers some of the same issues but a little less graphic) Kiss my Face is another brand I have even found at my local grocery store that is cruelty free. I have very mixed feelings about Peta, but they do have a pretty comprehensive list on…

I use it as I would rice...with veggies as pilaf or stir fry, tossed into a salad... Its very versatile

Try to eat more whole foods and less processed stuff. When I first went veggie I ate a lot of those meat substitutes...veggie burgers, "chicken" and the like. I didnt really notice a change in how I felt until I stopped using so much processed stuff. Too much coffee can also be a problem. I had a serious caffeine addiction…

seriously dont you have anything better to do than troll posts about vegan eating? We get it, you like meat. good for you. You obviously have no other reason to post in this thread than to try to annoy. Get off the computer and go talk to someone, read a book...do something productive. Have a nice day
-
of course I am correct...I am not foolish enough to post it otherwise  too bad i have never liked oreos tho...:frown: You would be surprised there is a lot of junk food that is "accidentally vegan" so it is possible to eat nothing but junk on a vegan diet.

kale, spinach, soymilk, kale kale kale lol

Today read in a thread someone say that they were an "apex predator" and hence eat meat. Going to the grocery store does not make one an apex predator.

Look into the Happy Herbivore. she has a blog with tons of free recipes, and 3 cookbooks. I just got the first 2 for $4.99 each on ibooks. Last night I made her chickpea marinara and had dinner on the table for my family of 5 in under 20 minutes!
-
um..its an accurate term really. it IS what meat eaters are eating....
-
its a shame however that the trolls come even if there is no sense of superiority. I dont feel superior to anyone, but I am proud of the fact that no animals are killed or harmed to make food for me. Dont see how that is any different that people being proud of hunting or fishing conquests. and often it is the omnis who…

actually if you just use common sense and make sure you are eating a variety of whole foods that include veggies, grains, beans, and fruit...you have no problem at all getting every nutrient the human body needs to function. the one exception is B12, and a simple supplement taken on occasion, and only if you are very…

Tons of information out there on this Watch Forks Over Knives, and the websites of the Drs who are associated withthe movie. I personally follow Dr McDougalls advice and have never felt better!

You can be vegetarian (and vegan for that matter) and still have a terrible diet. Oreos are vegan. Could never do voodoo...that involves hurting chickens. If you are going to toss insults around at least make sure they make sense

Yeh I am really enjoying the plan. I had tried Weight watchers and jenny craig before and just gained the wt back and then some. This time I dont feel deprived, and the wt is coming off. It can take a while..I have a lot more I want to lose, but I am making this a lifestyle change, not a "diet" so I dont mind !

so should I put my family out on the street because I now have to buy a new car (leather seats) and cannot afford to trade in my car yet, or toss out furniture and clothing that are still in good working condition because my values have shifted? I think that would be very wasteful, not to mention economically unmanageable…

BTDT...thanksgiving the first year meat free was ...fun... it was like I committed a crime not eating turkey!
-
actually...biology says otherwise: http://www.greentidings.blogspot.com/search/label/A%20Comparative%20Look%20at%20Carnivores I was vegetarian for a few years and dropped the dairy and eggs (and 25 lbs) a few months ago. Never felt better! I also did it for both ethical and health reasons. There are several vegan groups…

My kids, 10, 5 and 5 all have free access to things like fruit, veggies, yogurt and a few other healthy snacks pretty much whenever they want....exception being right before dinner. The sweet stuff...like cookies are put where they cannot reach them as they are doled out as a dessert after dinner on occasion. My kids tend…

When you hear that one, point out what it says in Genesis 1:29-30 "" Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that…
