I avoid that "may" thing...which really is annoying..how do they not KNOW what is in their stuff? Lately I am trying to really eat only whole foods, so its a lot easier to avoid accidental dairy and eggs. Since giving them up I know when I eat something with dairy in it because my stomach will start to hurt something awful!

Only if they are neglecting things that they have to do like school work...showers... Otherwise who cares if they like cartoons and Pokemon cards...there are plenty of things they could be getting into that you would WISH they were watching cartoons again...

Vegetarian since 2008, vegan since october. always glad to meet other veggie people :)
-
Never tried chia seeds...havent found them anywhere...but I do have the Bobs Red Mill egg replacement powder and it works just fine!
-
Mention gorillas and someone will point out that they eat termites! Yeah 3% of their diet is insects...hardly comparable to the percentage of meat omnis consume.
-
I was vegetarian for 5 years (still ate dairy and eggs) but dropped both of those from my diet back in October and transitioned to vegan. There are a lot of ways to get plenty of protein, you can eat nothing but potatoes and get every nutrient you need to survive (except b12) the problem is probably that you are trying to…

Same team I have been a fan of since birth...PATRIOTS!
-
yep..vegetarian for 5 yrs now whole foods and vegan here :)
-
oh yay another thread to bash vegans...and one with a stupid article full of inaccurate and biased info.

Well considering plants are largely carbs it is pretty hard not to consume a lot of them on a plant based diet. It is possible however to be a "junk food vegan" which is never good...french fries and oreos are vegan and that would be bad, but a potato and plate of fruit would not.

when I started this years ago by going vegetarian my family were all still eating meat. I armed myself with a lot of really good recipes and made non-meat whole food meals for dinners for everyone. Some things were a hit, some a miss, but I kept at it. Now almost 5 years later, my husband, 10 yr old daughter and 5 yr old…

Good to know because i had thought of buying that cookbook! I used those faux meats when first transitioning to vegetarian but now several years later I hardly ever tough that stuff! I only pick up veggie burgers a few times in the summer to take with me to cookouts where i need to bring my own food...

the judgmental people is by far the HARDEST part about being a vegan. The food part...that was easy!! :)
-
Well you are both correct and incorrect as I see it. I personally went vegan for both health and ethical reasons...they are both equally important to me. for people who embrace a vegan lifestyle from a purely ethical standpoint, SOME may take issue with the use of the word vegan in this context, because it is a lifestyle,…

oh if you like smoothies...try adding a hand full of green leafy veggies to it..like kale or spinach, easy way to get the greens in if you are not a fan...the sweetness of the fruit sort of hides the greens.
-
Just keep trying them..it takes most people several times before they really like a food that is new to them. I hated Brussel sprouts growing up but give me a plate of them now roasted with garlic..yummy! and I see drmerc still has nothing better to to than troll....
-
this for me too... No processed crap, artificial flavors or colors...WHOLE FOODS
-
I think I just need to stay out of the general forums here.....the idiocy is astounding
-
I should have been prepared for the inevitable vegan bashing if I voiced an opinion. and that the only sources you all seem to see as reputable are the ones you agree with. Go ahead...continue to drink your cow secretions and pus....knock yourselves out, suck an udder I dont care. Have a nice day

about 3% of a gorillas diet is insects, mostly termites. I dont know many omnivores that consume 3% animal products. and if its so tasty..eat it just boiled without any seasoning or cooking method that bowns it adding flavor. Decomposing flesh is not tasty.

yes I am. Go ahead and laugh but there is a TON of information backing what I said: http://www.livestrong.com/article/248912-foods-that-leach-calcium/ http://milk.elehost.com/html/why_does_calcuim_leave_the_bon.html http://www.pcrm.org/health/health-topics/calcium-and-strong-bones Too much dairy is harmful..not helpful But…

Ask a gorilla. they are vegan and sure as heck have a lot of lean muscle mass, and are pretty closely related to us humans. I doubt they get that much protein however. The link I posted was all about vegan body building and they listed several diet plans...I didnt look at them all but it sure sounds like it could answer…
-
exactly. I always wondered who was the first person to look at a cow's udders and think "MMMM Im gonna get me some of that!" and those of you citing studies showing dairy led to weight loss..who do you think PAID for those studies??? The dairy industry... Dairy is acidic and creates an acidic environment in your body so…

this.

http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/?page=food you may find some info useful to you here. I am vegan and whole foods but average 25-30g protein which for my goals is just fine :) and being vegan is not hard, the only hard part is dealing with people who want to debate and argue your choices :flowerforyou:
-
and you seem to have plenty of lean muscle mass to me :)
-
 do some women find that attractive? eww
-
sure about that? Been a Pats fan since the 70s here :) They did well today
