Way to go on not only taking the first step but keeping on the path! Adding the concern and care of your husband's health, self-care is important.

Especially in the colder months, tea is my go-to after lunch or in the evenings. Numi Toasted Rice, Harney & Sons Earl Grey. I also like Trader Joes Oolong and Earl Grey.

That is inspiring! What commitment :)

Way to go! What a great feeling to be moving toward your goal!

crazyravr that does look good! Does it have a name yet so we know what recipe to look for?

Great commitment! Not everyone can appreciate what losing the last 4-5 pounds can mean. Yes, just a number, however if that's your goal what a great feeling to reach it!

Thanks for all the great info and inspiration. 54 yo (closer to 55 at this point). Not fully post-menopausal here but getting close and a bit concerned how that will create more changes. I started on MFP 4-5 years ago with 'final 10 to lose' and haven't made it there. Of couse now it's 15 to goal.

What mulecanter said and also adding, the younger you are the better chance you have of your skin adjusting to your new weight. I've read on MFP for those that have lost a significant amount of weight, that adjustment time can take a year or more. However, by then you will be enjoying other benefits from losing weight and…

Best of luck of this new part of your life's journey! It's amazing what medical help can do and what each of us can do once we focus and try.

I had my thyroid removed in Feb 2014. Bloodwork had been stable until Dec 2016 when I was close to maintenance (within five pounds). At times I could tell by how I felt (a bit jittery, etc.) and suspected that my meds were off. At my Dec 2016 physical and bloodwork the doc lowered my meds from 125 mg to 113 mg. Stayed on…

Commitment does pay off! Great job!

You do you! Advice is good and can be helpful, but ultimately it's what will work for you that you need to navigate.

54 here and trying the 5:2 intermittent fasting approach. I've lost/re-gained the same 5-8 pounds for too long and need to try a different approach.

Way to go!

Turned 54 last month. I work out at home using dvd's and outside for cardio and Fitness Blender for strength. Really enjoy MFP for motivation!
-
Popcorn hands down. But am thinking I should check out the pretzel sticks. I haven't had them in a long time.
-
I also weigh daily & log in MFP once a week.

Have finally caught up reading this thread and wanted to thank everyone for their inspiration! I am 53 (54 in Jan) and enjoy reading about everyone's success and workarounds.

Like the old commercials used to say, "Just do it". It's a part of my daily morning routine so it's never a question of if, just what is the workout. I do take Sun as a rest day but walk our dog or take an afternoon walk or cross-country ski. So Sunday's are my lazy mornings -- reading, etc.
-
Yes, it's a thing. I used to get it when out cross-country skiing and had an inhaler for a while. For some reason it has gotten better and I no longer use an inhaler.
-
Daily for me. Been doing it for years. But I only log my weight in MFP once a week.
-
It sounds like a good plan! And who knows, when you are out walking & getting familiar with your new place you might even meet a few people! Adding movement is always a winner in my mind.

Great commitment!

Popcorn eaten one kernel at a time is my favorite stay awake travel food.
