  • Avocados, raw unsalted almonds, low fat cheese and peanut butter are all great ways to get in some healthy extra calories.
  • Good for you!!! My motivation to avoid eating out is to take the money I would have spent on food and spend it on a fun activitity or cute new shoes instead!
  • Lifting helps wonders with the loose skin. When I lost 25 lbs. two years ago through diet only I was starting to look like a deflated balloon until I hit the weights. I've been balancing weights with cardio this go around and haven't noticed the deflated balloon look. Now my concern is stretch marks. I have tried Bio Oil,…
  • 31 and loving it!!! I couldn't afford to do anything in my twenties. Now I can afford to travel. My husband and I traveled to Italy for my 30th birthday/1st wedding anniversary. For my 31st birthday and our 2nd anniversary we went to London, Paris and Amsterdam. My 20s were fun, but ramen noodles were not.
  • I am not doing a juice detox or juice diet, but I did buy a juicer last weekend. (The Breville Elite Juice Fountain - a splurge, but I love it!) We purchased the juicer mainly because my husband has the lapband and cannot eat solid food in the morning. I normally juice for him in the morning and add the leftover juice to…
  • I'm guessing they are just jealous that you have the self control to only eat half of the burger. Good for you by knowing you can indulge in moderation. Your friends probably have no clue how many calories and fat is in the burger. My mother-in-law always gives me her two cents on dieting. I just smile, nod and tell her…
  • We have an expensive digital scale that measures weight, BMI, water weight, and bone density. Depending where I put it on the bathroom floor I get a different reading each time that can sometime range up to 5 lbs. So frusterating!!!
  • I went through a huge PB sandwich phase as a kid. My favorites were PB & Pickles, PB and Potato Chip, PB & Banana, and of course PB and Jelly (but only strawberry jelly!).
  • I just got a pair of the Brooks Ghost (not sure of the #) on sale at Fit2Run for $70. Since you've already been fitted maybe you could find the shoe you like online for cheaper?
  • Fed up as well! My two younger sisters are so skinny and they never workout or diet!!! I've been on a diet since I was in elementary school. I know I'll never be a size 2, but I'd like to at least get down to a size 6.
  • I've tried giving up coffee in the past, but gave up. I now limit myself to a cup of coffee a day with a tbsp. of creamer.
  • I like having access to the nutrition content on the menu, but it is hard for restaurants to publish accurate information since portions can vary. Larger meat portions or extra sauce can add up to a few hundred extra calories!
  • Another thought. Have you tried roasting your vegetables instead? I roast mine in the oven on a sheet of non-stick reynolds foil so I don't have to use much oil. I just lightly mist the vegetables with EVOO from my "misto" oil spray can and sprinkle the vegetables with a few fresh herbs or salt and pepper.
  • Coconut oil is a great way to lower your cholesterol, but I can imagine the flavors do not mesh well with mushrooms. I would use a little extra virgin olive oil and some low sodium chicken broth instead.
  • Still trying to master the pushups in Level 1. I'm doing girly pushups until I can master the hardcore pushups.
  • In my opinion weightloss supplements are a rip-off, but if it is working for your mother-in-law good for her. Maybe you can convince her to workout with you? Eventually she'll get off the pills and the weight will just creep back on if she doesn't adapt a healthy lifestyle.
  • I beat the chocolate cravings with a chocolate protein shake. Add a little low-fat milk and ice in the blender and it will resemble a chocolate frosty without the fat and empty calories - yummy!
  • Nice job! We are the same weight and height today :) Feel your pain... I am dying to get back to the 170's and be just "overweight"! I was 172 two years ago and hated my weight then, but now I would kill to be a size 10 again! You can do it!!!
  • I find all flavors of Greek Yogurt a bit sour. I'm currently trying to choke down a Voskos Strawberry Greek Yogurt with Granola.
  • I thought I knew the "rules", but every day I question my nutrition knowledge. I just got back from Europe so I was eating full fat milk, cheese and cream as well as tons of fatty pastries and charcuterie. Since we were walking every day as well as riding bikes I actually LOST two lbs. The weight loss made me realize how…
  • Sparkling water with lemon or lime. I found I was drinking diet soda just because I like the bubbles. Now I get my bubbles without the aspathame and artificial sugars.
  • I work out at a LA Fitness Signature Club. It seems like the gym attracts all the beautiful people of Tampa. We do have a handful of old guys who play racquetball upstairs, but 70% of the members are between an 8 to 10.
  • Who cares about the empty calories, pop tarts are just gross. I'd rather indulge in the ice cream and skip the pop tarts.
  • I drink 48 oz. of water from my Tervis Tumbler every day at my desk. This does not include my morning double shot espresso, 1-2 cups of decaf green tea, and 24 oz of water at the gym. I have the bladder of a 5 year old so it seems like I make trips to the bathroom once every hour or so.
  • I've passed out in a couple of early morning workouts after skipping breakfast. I don't like to workout on a full stomach so I just eat half a banana or a little oatmeal before I do intense cardio.
  • I purchased my PB2 at Whole Foods. Since you don't get the heart healthy fats from PB2 I just use it as a low-cal flavor booster for my protein shakes. I make sure I still eat raw almonds and avocados to get my "good fats" for the day.

  • I am currently using Bio Oil, but I haven't seen any results yet. I may try vitamin E next. For those who are seeing results: how many weeks did it take to notice your stretch marks were fading?
  • Maybe join a gym that has a daycare/kid zone? If that's not an option maybe you could put her up in one of those play pins while you work out? Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred dvd offers 20 minute videos so you could squeeze in a good workout really quickly.
  • As long as he isn't eating a plate of bacon I don't see any harm in his breakfast. It's better than eating sugary cereal or even worse, skipping breakfast. I do a slightly leaner version of his breakfast: two eggs, 1 oz of 2% cheese and 1-2 oz of lean ham. I occasionally do Jenny O Turkey links, but it really cuts into my…
  • I drink 1-3 cups of green tea a day. I haven't lost any weight from it, but it does prevent me from snacking on other stuff. Have you tried Jasmine green tea? It's a lot lighter in taste.
