  • Perhaps you should consult with a doctor or a nutritionist?
  • Burning calories at the office is not an easy task, especially if you are wearing heels and dress clothes. You could park farther from the office, take the stairs instead of the elevator, walk on your lunch break, or do a few squats and lounges at your desk, but you won't be burning a fraction of the calories you could at…
  • Not sure if your wife is still doing a "cheat day", but this is how I fell off the band wagon. I would eat very healthy Sunday through Friday and have a cheat day on Saturday. My cheat day slowly started slipping into Sunday and before I knew it I was even starting cheat day as early as Friday night. My cheat day was…
  • Your body may be craving vitamins and nutrients. Are you taking enough vitamins and calcium? Women need at least 1,200mg of calcium a day. Some calcium rich foods include kale, collard greens, broccoli and yogurt. Some foods you should eat during your period: Leafy Greens - Iron and Vitamin B Nuts - Good Fats and Omega-3s…
  • Hotel rooms in London are $$$. I would recommend using Hotwire to find your hotel. We knew which neighborhood we wanted so we just looked at five star hotels with at least 90% recommendation in the neighborhood we desired. We ended up finding a room at the Intercontinental for $200/night that was right across the street…
  • You'll find more responses if you post this on www.yelp.com. Here are some spots we visited in London last year: Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Pub (145 Fleet St, London EC4A 2BU), Awesome bar 3 min walk from St Paul’s Cathedral. Oliver Goldsmith, Mark Twain, Alfred Tennyson, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and G.K. Chesterton are all…
  • I think the pounds would drop if you cut out the processed foods and ate more fruits and vegetables. Since you have a newborn (congrats!) and time is an issue you could swap the cereal in the morning for a protein shake, or scrambled eggs, or fruit and yogurt. All of these are quick meals that don't involve too much time…
  • If you can't control yourself around sugar I would not buy sugary snacks at the grocery store in fear that you will just binge. Swap the sugar out for fruit and treat yourself to dessert once or twice a week. When you treat yourself go out for an ice cream cone or go to a café for a decadent pastry and coffee, but don't…
  • If you are hunching over and rolling your back while doing deadlifts there is a chance that you are doing more bad than good. Herniated discs are NOT fun. Have you considered working with a trainer?
  • Yeah, I want to get healthy and live longer (blah, blah, blah), but I really want to look hot in a bikini at the beach. Our family goes to the beach every Thanksgiving and I get tired of hiding from the camera in my swimsuit.
  • After reviewing your diary I noticed you are not eating a lot fruits and vegetables for breakfast or lunch. Maybe instead of eating a breakfast bar you could try fruit and yogurt or a vegetable omelet? For lunch swap the burger for a garden salad with chicken or some fish and steamed vegetables. Aim to eat a serving of…
  • Losing weight is not as simple as "calories in, calories out". Foods affect our bodies in different ways and go through different metabolic pathways. If I eat too many carbs or too much sodium I won't see the scale budge no matter how much time I am spending at the gym. Is it possible that you underestimating your portions…
  • My mother-in-law asked me if I was jealous of my sister. When I replied "no" and asked "why?" she responded "Well, you have to try so hard to lose weight and your sister is just naturally thin." Got to love MILs!
  • Make it rain champagne! Haha!!!
  • Work out four times this week and drink 8 cups of water a day.
  • Royal Dansk Dutch Cookies. I've been purchasing Christmas gift baskets for our clients so now my browser feed is full of holiday treats :( Deleting my cookies so I can stop looking at cookies!
  • I'll be in St. Maarten, but I still plan to check out the Black Friday deals online at Amazon and Best Buy.
  • I used a food scale to weigh meat and cheese the first few months of my diet. After a while I just eyeball my portions, but I think a food scale is a great way to see what an ounce of cheese or 4 ounces of meat really looks like. I don't whip out the scale for every meal now that I have my portions in check, but every now…

  • Possibly. I just started running a few months ago and I have been reducing my time each week. I started off running 17 minute miles in September and have improved my time each week. Last week I ran a mile in 12 minutes and 25 seconds. I guess because I am such a slow runner I have been able to shave a lot of time off my…
  • My husband and I have gone up and down in our weights and have loved each other through thick and thin. Instead of nagging at him to lose weight why don't you try being more active together? Ride bikes, hike, go bowling, walk on the beach... do something active, but fun! And DON'T tell him you are doing it because he needs…
  • I skip a lot to avoid pantylines, but I read that was bad. I guess I need to buy some seamless workout undies for the gym.
  • I am so thankful I didn't get a tattoo in college. Fairies and "tramp stamps" were really popular at the time and I would have regretted marking my body with either of those tattoos. My brother's ex girlfriend had some pretty bad tattoos. Besides having her granfather's face tattooed on her back (sweet gesture, but ugly…
  • I don't put any salt or seasoning on shrimp. I just eat it with sriracha sauce since cocktail sauce has too much sugar in it. If you are looking for healthier alternatives to flavor your meat try these recipes: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/healthy-sauces-dressings-and-toppings/#axzz2kYlEi25X I've made the Spicy Red…
  • I heard they were just "ok" so I'm going to pass on trying these.
  • Haha, I like the getting drunk suggestions! Guess I will be trying out some Jergens self tanning lotion this weekend. If I screw up and look like an oompa loompa at least it will have time to wear off before my vacation!
  • Drinking less water is counterproductive. You'll just retain water and gain weight. Drink lots of water and eat potassium rich foods such as low-fat yogurt, fish, or bananas. If this week's numbers are up don't get discouraged. Just try harder next week!
  • I used to take spin class 3-4 times a week. Even though you are sore from Tuesday's class I would go to class today if you still have full range of motion. (If you are limping then skip class.) Your muscles will recover faster with some light aerobic activity. Just don't push yourself 100% in tonight's class.
