Being strong and fit is going to help in any physical confrontation.

That's exactly the sort of thing I'd admit upfront. It's endearing damnit!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Jobs can be replaced, but the grief of losing a beloved pet is hard to bear. I wish I had the words to make it easier xx

Are you a woman? I can gain and drop up to 7 pounds in the space of a week just due to my menstrual cycle.
-
Women aren't generic. Some find them irresistible, others find them ugly. Just do what makes you feel attractive. The right audience will notice.

Would love to see a picture!

I made my own plugs at work, drilled them to fit over the buds, and they work a treat.

What's changed in your life, and what's changed in you? If I'm blue, motivation to do anything eludes me. Have you been really honest with yourself about what's making it harder, and what you need to change to make it easier?

Take your time! Your tummy muscles have been through a lot, your body has probably been slightly depleted of its nutrients reserves, and your hormones are in a funny place. Your spine, your abs and your pelvis have been through a traumatic few months. I remember vividly the horror of seeing my post baby body the first time…

Charlie loves to get under the ba too! He also likes to crawl under yoga poses, or imitate them so that I collapse with giggles. Edward just tries to savage the punchbag whenever it dares to get in the way of my fists. Not always the best workout buddies, perhaps...

Charlie is a staffie X Springer spaniel, so I guess in America they'd call him a pibble? He has a whole body wag! Edward is a boxer X mastiff, which is called a boxmas. He's just a tank. I don't ever have to worry about being a woman running alone when he's there! Both are rescues. :)

Exactly. People should respect your right to decline, especially with food, booze and physical contact. Set firm boundaries, and if people don't respect them then they don't deserve your time.

Protein is vital for building and repairing your body. Some people find it keeps them feeling fuller for longer, which is a bonus. Whether or not it helps you slim down, make sure you get the recommended amount anyway. Well, unless you have medical issues (like kidney failure) that make protein reduction necessary.…

Eurgh! The horror of watching someone you care about doing this time and time again I think learning to live with your own company first will help prevent falling into that trap. And I think the expectation that a partner will fix your life is an unfair burden to put on them.
-
I'd get this thread deleted, then tell her about this super online weight management community that you really want her to be friends with you on, because it's another place to enjoy the pleasure of her company.

I'd just stop going, and my OH would know better than to press the issue. But then, I'm not the most reasonable and diplomatic person. I think life is too short to be pushed around for the sake of politeness.

Once, for a giggle, I created the most outrageously honest dating profile imaginable, expecting it to put men off. I listed my most annoying faults, my most entitled expectations, and made zero effort to seem attractive. It was the absolute opposite of what you'd usually do, and I expected to get hate mail. Instead, I got…

I love my OH of 4 years, but I seriously do miss many aspects of single life. That's why I was single for almost 15 years. I miss going on vacation alone. I miss going out for dinner and movies alone. I miss hogging the bed and my word being law. My OH felt like you do, and worried about me being so much older and having…

I don't think there's anything wrong with telling a partner that you no longer desire them because of it. Honesty. You don't have to be a jerk about it, but nobody should be having sex they don't really want. It's going to hurt, but that doesn't make it wrong. Most people need a spark of physical attraction to make…

Public policy? Being back proper home economics lessons. Right the way through school. Teach kids how to buy and prepare healthy meals on a budget. Teach them about hidden calories and nasty additives in junk food. Too many people don't know where to start when they want to change their diet, because nobody taught them.…

Any exercise is better than no exercise. Whatever your body is capable of without causing problems, that's an achievement. But even if you can't do much at all, a healthy diet (taking your medical needs into account) can only make things better. You sound like you're already doing more than a lot of able bodied people! I…

Personally, I love running, but running doesn't love me. It's the one exercise I'm just horribly injury prone at. Rock tape and compression sleeves help, but not enough. I find running occasionally is fine, but anything regular (even sitting at step 1 of c25k) causes issues, so now I just listen to my body and do what it's…

Clearly not a stupid question, because none of us realised that this was a recognised issue. I'm glad you inspired me to look it up, because now I have an answer too. It might help other people who read this thread too. My googling suggested nose clips and goggles could help some people... Might be worth a shot?

I googled. Apparently it can irritate eyes and sinuses, which can cause headaches.

I get chlorine headaches. Always have done. I'm fine in the sea, I'm fine in a river, I'm fine in the bath, but chlorine puts my head in a vice.

Bettering your body means making your body better. Strength training will make your body better, because it's going to be healthier and stronger. This is going to sound really mean, but I don't think you have a healthy relationship with your body. IMO, the problem isn't how your body looks, it's how you feel about how your…

I post occasionally, but don't do the friends thing. Previously, I've accepted requests only to receive snotty, entitled messages from them, instructing me to open my diary, and lecturing me on accountability. I don't need to deal with that kind of cattle excrement. You don't owe anyone anything here. Give as much as you…

I'm with the others. This is one of those things that women in particular torture themselves with. You look healthy and shapely. Your personal taste might prefer thigh gaps, but personal taste is all it is. Objectively, you've got fairly normal looking legs for a fit woman.
