  • I think that varies from individual to individual. Are you on the pump? If so, you can adjust your insulin during exercise. If not, then make sure you check your glucose after exercise and again 30-60 mins after. If you go low, all you need is one apple to bring it back up, and that's only about 86 cals. I know for me, it…
  • I used to think we HAD to have bread, roll, biscuit, etc. at EVERY Dinner. Not anymore! :0)
  • Clean your house or do some gardening....that burns ALOT Of calories according to MFP!!
  • I have heard that certain things should not be planted next to others....such as no cantelope next to watermelon. Make sure you check on that too. Happy Gardening!
  • This sounds very good. Thanks for sharing!
  • My husband is a Pastor and he did a Dr. Seuss themed "renewal of vows" for my parents 40th anniversary. He found Dr. Seuss vows online...they were very funny. Maybe you could send out invitations in the form of a poem? We used red, white, and black flowers and then found Dr. Seuss Stickers to put on the "card holder" that…
  • You are absolutely correct. Thanks for posting that. I am currently learning about Metabolic Typing. How everyone has a different metabolic type and require different foods in order to lose weight and just function at their peak. What's good for one may be harmful to another....depends on their type.
  • Yes-good job!! Please tell how long it took you. I am curious to see how long it is taking others to lose weight.
  • I'm no expert either, but I do know that Fast food and pre-packaged foods are much higher in sodium than if you made the same type dish at home. Can you try to eat at home more often? I rarely eat "out" and I am ALWAYS under my sodium counts.
  • I was kind of wondering the same thing. If I have tons of calories left and it's the end of the day, should I try to cram as many calories in as I can at the end of the day? This means I would be eating a large amount at bedtime.
  • So sorry to hear this. Support from home is perhaps the most important....but don't give up! Get your support from your mom, other friends, etc. You can do this!!
  • It's amazing how many calories you can burn doing "chores". Housecleaning, Raking lawn, etc. Make sure you count those. Otherwise, walking is always good.
  • Fresh Starts are great! Take it one day at a time and you'll do great :0)
  • I was going to say the same thing. Go Whole Grain.

  • I agree with some of these other responses.... I have read that if you crave sweets after eating a meal, that means you had too many carbs in the meal and should try to make your plate consist of more protein/less carbs.
  • You could just shred it up over a salad...that's always good :0)
  • There is a 35 calorie bread...I believe it's called Healthy Life. We use that alot.
  • 5 days into a new lifestyle change can seem like forever. We feel like we've been at it longer than we really have, so we naturally expect to see results on the scale. Give your body some time to respond to your changes and be patient. If you stay faithful, the pounds will eventually come off :0)
  • I started gaining energy after 3- 3.5 weeks of exercise.
  • I used to be that way with Mt. Dew. I just couldn't make myself drink the diet Mt. Dew. I decided to go a week without ANY Mt. Dew -and then I drank a diet. By then...the diet tasted VERY sweet. If you still want to drink pop, try going without any for a few days, then try the diet and see if you like it any better.
  • I hope that is what's happening to me, then. I lost 6lbs my first month and NOTHING in the last 4.5 weeks. Maybe I'll get 4lbs next week :0/
  • I have heard that before too. I'm not sure it is true for all people or even most people. I can name several reasons why I am struggling with weight..and none of them are due to stress, unhappiness, lonliness, abuse, or the like. I just didn't grow up eating healthy. While my dad has always been small, he never has liked…
  • Well, today is my two month weigh--in. I mentioned the 6 lb. loss the first month.. The second month I lost absolutely nothing. Didn't gain either. What kind of exercise are you all doing? I am getting bored with walking. I have an eliptlcal...but I have read that you need to change up your exercise, so you body doesn't…
  • Thanks everyone...I actually did go with the sugar free pudding.. and I have heard of the pickle thing before, too. LOL
  • Hi barbiecat, Just a question ...you said you cut out caffeine, white sugar and sugar substitute. What do you drink? Do you only drink water? I've gone from regular pop to diet pop, then from diet pop to crystal light. Trying to figure out how else to "tweek" my food/drink intake so the weight will come off. Never have…
  • Hi gals~ feeling blah today. My monthly weigh in isn't until the 21st but I weighed today just to get an idea and I weigh the same I did a month ago! This is so frustrating for me. I have been on MFP for 7 weeks, and started exercising/cutting back on food two weeks before that. So in 9 weeks I have only lost 6 pounds. I…
  • Thanks for sharing that site with me!
  • Hi everyone. This is my first time on this site. Someone suggested it to me after I posted a question on the main page. I was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 5. I am now 40. I have been trying to lose weight the last few months and was wondering if other diabetics found it difficult to get the weight off? I've lost 4…
  • I was just sitting here thinking the same thing...except mine is because of cookouts. We have a lot of friends who have been having cookouts. I love to go and hang out, but all the food is high calorie, high fat. Hot dogs, brats, pasta salads, beans, desserts. It's been hard staying under my calories. Went over by 123 cals…
  • Welcome! Great idea...thanks for thinking of it :0)
