  • This year I want to accomplish two thing that will be FIRSTS in my lifetime: I want to get into what is considered the healthy weight range for my height, and get into a single digit dress size. Right now I am 5'8" and 180 pounds in a size 12. That means I need to lose about 20 pounds and 4 sizes to be solidly in the right…
  • I have used it off and on during my weight loss and it has not done me any harm. If nothing else, it certainly helps you hold yourself accountable on your fat intake. Now that I have lost a good bit I feel like it is a crutch I don't need anymore, but I am certainly glad I started off with it cause it helped me get the…
  • That 1000 dollars per pound thing is wild. I was watching the show with my mom and eating some chips (I had the calories leftover!) and when they made that offer to Shay I turned to my mom and said "if somebody offered me that, I wouldn't be eating these chips." That would be some serious motivation. She sould lose over…
  • I thought Rebecca looked better after she was eliminated than she did at the finale. I think a little more weight suits her face better. Not to mention the dark hair. Of course she looks great either way, butI thought she was most stunning when she appeared on Leno.
  • I had my weigh-in the morning after thanksgiving and I was down 2 pounds from the last week. Of course, I have been in this ugly pattern of re-losing those same 2 pounds every other week for the last 6 weeks, so I have not lost anything real for a while. At least I didn't gain. Here's hoping that this is the week where I…
  • It is funny how I thought of them as a goal back then and now that I am in them I feel nowhere near done (I'm a size 12, looking to lose at least 20 pounds more) but back then it seemed like such a big goal and I didn't dare hope for any better. So if you are just starting, take heart! Slow and steady, you will get there!
  • When I got married I was pretty close to my fattest ever. I an sure that right now my dress would hang off me. It it had been strapless, it would probably fall right down.
  • After writing my last post I went to change out of my gym clothes and as I was bending over the foot of my bed I noticed in the mirror that my stomach no longer bulges out when I bend over, it actually folds inwards now. Kinda makes 2 separate hangy skin pouches still, so not exactly the most charming thing in the world,…
  • I FINALLY ran a mile in under 10 minutes... I was totally wiped and couldn't do anthing else in the gym that day... but I busted through that 10 min goal so it was a great day! My size 12 pants are also starting to get a little loose. I am also getting close a weight in the 170's. That means I am about to be at my smallest…
  • That is so exciting! If I play my cards right I could be into a size 10 in a couple weeks and it would be the first time EVER! I'm so excited for you!
  • I do that sometimes. Count those accidental late calories as breakfast for the next day, count breakfast as morning snack and then I'm back on track by lunch! Takes some discipline but it is a good plan B.
  • Well, if you consider obesity as its own category, then I used to be 47 pounds obese (yikes) I am still a lot closer to obese than I am to normal weight by BMI. Of course, BMI is also silly in a lot of ways. My body-builder husband is 200 pounds at 5'8", making him technically obese as well. If you looked at him, "obese"…
  • euphonasia, what corps/band is that in your picture/ticker? I marched at Irondale HS in Minnesota, and was colorguard captain at Blue Stars of LaCrosse, WI for 3 years (marched for 4)! Yay for marching arts!
  • The people above me explained it great, so I thought I would just offer some encouragement: I started at about 240 and now I am pretty close to having lost 60 pounds. I should be crossing that milestone in just a couple weeks. It can be done!
  • MissKim, it is hard for me to give advice since I feel like I am still taking shots in the dark and tweaking things all the time to see what works for me. I have had good success with eating lots of small meals and remembering to eat before i actually feel that hunger in my stomach. Like keeping your tank 1/2 to 1/4 full…
  • I would be able to say the same, except for the Burger King I ate yesterday. Yuck. Two hours after I finished it I started feeling like I was hung over. That stuff is BAD FOR YOU and once you kick the habit you will wonder what he charm of it ever was.
  • Frequent small meals (eating BEFORE hunger hits) and plenty of water.
  • Loss for the week is: Drum Roll Please.... 4 pounds! From 192 down to 188. I did have my period last week so I am sure some of that was water weight, but I think I can take credit for most of it! It pays off to actually stick to the plan! I get the excitement of a whole new digit in my weight. Goodbye 190's, I won't be…
  • It is definitely hard to get used to celebrating your success in ways that don't involve food. Our culture (and our unhealthy personal habits) really associate celebration with meals. I try to reward myself with things like clothes and shoes instead but that doesn't have the same social aspect of celebrating with others. I…
  • I love this site too. Both of my sisters and my brother-in-law are on here now too based on my reccommendation. And I have started being on here way more than on facebook. My favorite feature is that "if every day were like today" feature. It is SO motivating to see that at the end of a good day. Even on a bad day it…
  • Had another good day today and took a sneak peek at my weight when I got home. High hopes for a good loss at my Friday weigh-in!
  • Another good day yesterday with exercise and diet. Today I am working at both of my jobs so I won't get to work out at all, but I shouldstill be able to rock the diet. I also noticed this morning that my (size 16) go-to work pants that I only bought about 6-8 weeks ago are almost falling off, and the belt that came with…
  • I finally crossed that milestone and I am now 3 lbs lighter than my husband. He is a bodybuilder, though, so his 5'8" and 195 pounds of muscle is still WAY healthier than my 5'8" and 192 pounds of mostly fat!
  • 76 oz so far
  • It was a good day yesterday. I stayed under my cals and got in a good workout. Doing the same again today as well as drinking plenty of water! So far so good!
  • I am in for 100 oz
  • Well, one of my jobs just called me in for extra hour on Wednesday and Friday, so I will be gong to the gym 3 days rather than 5 this week, but NO MATTER. I will just have to make those 3 sessions even more intense. Letting my dinner settle then I am off to do some serious cardio and lifting at the gym.
  • And now if I DON'T do it, I'll have to come back to this thread and admit it. That is some motivation, right there.
  • Having to buy NEW clothes as I lose weight, because I have shrunk out of all the old stuff in the closet! My size 14 wardrobe is rather dated at this point, considering it is about 5 years old, but my size 12 wardrobe will be ALL NEW! As we speak I am wearing the second smallest garment I own, so this goal is within reach!
