NSV - Not hating it
On the treadmill yesterday I was doing my usual 15 minute jog to warm up for my circuit training and a funny thing happenned: I finally turned that corner where running starts to feel more good than miserable. I remember this feeling from long ago when I was more fit, and for the last 5 weeks I have been slogging through…

Me Again! (a cautionary tale)
Hey Everybody! My name is GumbyAnne and I'm doing this for the second time. In 2009 I lost a total of 63 pounds with the help of MFP. I kept it off of a year and then in 2011 and 2012, after going through some big personal changes in my life, I have gained back all but 10 pounds. I have absolutely no doubt that I can lose…

Working off this REGAINED weight!
Back in 2009 I lost a total of 63 pounds, going from 242 down to 179 and it felt absolutely great! For some reason, I always seem to hit a wall at 179, bouncing back up a few pounds once I get there. Over the course of 2010 and so far in 2011 I have been up and down in weight, but the general trend is unfortunately UP, and…

Back in The Saddle Again...
So, last year (2009) I lost a grand total of 63 pounds, starting the year at 242 and and finishing at 179, which was a HUGE accomplishment for me. Since then I have gained a few and lost them again several times, hitting 179 three separate times during 2010. Now about 2 months ago I had some life changes and ended up…

Skinny Jeans (Again!)
I am back down into the 170's (and in my smallest jeans) for the third time inthe last 12 months. Both of the other times I drifted back into the 180's again. Not this time, I say! I only want to lose 15 more and I can do it!

Not too late for that New Year's resolution!
In 2009, I lost 63 pounds. My resolution for 2010 was to get myself into a normal BMI range for the first time in my life and maybe (just maybe) a single digit dress size. That is 5'8" and 164, size 8. It actually seems pretty reasonable. Well, I started out this year at 179 and now a third of the way through the year, I…

I didn't know I had it in me!
So, over the last year I have taken up running and I have gone from not being able to even run a mile on the treadmill, to regularly running 2, 3, and 4 miles with no walking at least twice a week on the treadmill. Now that it is spring I have been trying to run outside and finding that I can't go nearly as far without…

Ran 3 Miles!
For the first time in my life I ran 3 miles all at once! It was not even a year ago that I couldn't run a single mile without walking. It took me just over 37 minutes. At this rate I actually have a chance at making pretty good time at my first 5k in August! It is great to discover that this body of mine REALLY WORKS!

Two exciting things!
For one, I weighed in at 179 pounds this morning, FINALLY breaking a 6 week plateau and putting me into a whole new "decade" of weight. Hello 170's! I also had on odd milestone yesterday. I had my wedding ring accidentally fly off my finger for the first time. I washed and partially dried my hands, then as I was throwing…

Goal Jeans
When I started losing weight last spring I found my old favorite pair of jeans in the back of my closet. I tried to put them on but I couldn't even get one leg in them. I fantasized about being able to put them on again, made it my goal, and draped then over a chair in my bedroom where I would see them all the time. I have…

I ran 2 whole miles!
All at once! Without walking at all! It wasn't real fast (23 minutes and some seconds) but I am still stoked that I made it without wimping out. I have literally never been able to do that before in my whole life. It was surprisingly not that bad. I should have attempted it sooner.

I'm 20 pounds overweight!
Yes, this is a success story. I used to be 80 pounds overweight!
-
Fitness Milestone
I ran a mile in under 10 minutes today for the first time in an excessively long time. It was 9:46, so I actually kinda blew past that goal time. I have been working on it for a year and I just decided that today would be the day I did it. Amazing how much easier it is now that I am not hauling so much useless fat! I…

Success = Motivation
Nothing like a little success to make you feel motivated! I have been losing weight at a pretty steady clip for the last few months and I am finally down to a size where I feel lore like a "regular person" than a "fat person" (You know what I mean right?). For some reason I have never felt so motivated to keep at it. I…

My new pants...
... are a size 12! I think the last time that happened I was also 12 years old. Haha!

Mark My Words: This is MY week!
Alright, after a less than perfect weekend with food and a less than perfect few weeks of exercise, this week is the one where I bust through my stagnant weight loss (I wouldn't call it a plateau, but it is a rather slow decline...). I have just been laid off from one of my 3 jobs, so I am taking that extra time and energy…

Who Knew?! ... Oh yeah, all the experts knew...
I have had a string of discoveries lately and I have this strange mix of excitement and regret about them. I thought I would share my lessons with you all. First of all, I am having great success losing weight by eating frequent small meals. Doing this makes it so much easier to make it through the day on fewer calories…

The Big Five-Oh
As of today I am down 50 pounds from my highest ever. In about a year I have gone from 242 down to 192 this morning.
-
Size 12 dress!
I bought one! I bet it is a large 12 and it is pretty snug (I figure this way it will continue fit me for at least a couple months) , but it is a 12 and I have not seen that number in ages. So excited! Now if I can get down to a 10 I will be at my smallest size EVER. Onward!

Vegetarian Low-Carb Ideas
I went to the doctor today and she advised me to reduce my carbs and sugars as much as possible for the next few weeks due to a health problem un-related to my weight. The challenge is that I am a vegetarian and so keeping carbs low is really hard without starving or being bored to death. Help me brainstorm some ideas of…

Being "Overweight" Never Felt So Good!
I weighed in this morning at just under 195 pounds. For my height at 5' 8" that means I am no longer "Obese," but rather just "Overweight." Funny how excited I am about finally being overweight! Only 30 more pounds and I will be in a healthy BMI range! I can't wait!

Waaater! (challenge 8-24-09)
I'm honna drink at least 100 oz today and I have done about 20 oz so far. Who's with me?

Out of the Husky section!
I went shopping this weekend and realized that I am now out of the Plus Size stores and sections and into the regular stuff. I still have to reach to the back of the rack for the biggest size, but somehow I don't mind that part. I just can't get over how many more options I have now! Whee!

Back in Onederland
My weight today is 199 lbs. I am FINALLY under 200 and planning to stay here for good! Just 4 more pounds and I won't be obese anymore.

Future Former Fat Girl
Hey everyone! I am 24 years old and have recently lost about 15 pounds with about 50 more to go. I have 3 jobs so my workout schedule varies a lot from one week to another. At 2 of my jobs I work on the phone and spend a lot of time surfing the net while waiting for calls to come in, so forums like this are a great way to…
