Have you offered to cook meals for your parents, either in your home or theirs? This saves everyone money, you can control what you eat and you still get to enjoy time with your parents. You guys could do theme nights - Meatless Mondays, TexMex Tuesdays, Summer Salad Saturdays, etc. and find great recipes on Pinterest,…

This is so cool! I'm from the States. I have a lower BMI than 84% of females aged 30-44 in my country and a lower BMI than 56% of females aged 30-44 in the world. If everyone in the world had the same BMI as me, it would remove 8,109,014 tonnes from the total weight of the world's population. I'm most like someone from…

I cut soda cold turkey almost two years ago, after 10 years of only drinking caffeine-free soda. I was addicted to the sugar, not the caffeine. It was really hard the first two weeks. In the last couple of months I've had root beer (a former favorite) and it honestly tasted so gross that I tossed the almost full can. I…

thank you for sharing your journey - you look fantastic!!

It looks like you need to eat more - have you thought about zig zagging your calories (1 day a little under, the next day a little over, two days slightly under, a day or two over, etc)? You'll still want to do 5 smaller meals throughout the day so your metabolism doesn't plunge and spike, but this might help (works for…

As a fellow shortie, I can definitely relate! All it took was 15 lbs additional on my 5 foot and half inch frame for me not to get into any of my clothes. My choice was to lose the weight or buy more clothes and I'm not made of money! Everyone has their own goals and their own time frame to reach those goals. There's a lot…

I lost a few pounds before signing up for MFP, but I used the weight I was the day I signed up for MFP since that was effectively my starting point.

Thank you, bump for later!

It's definitely different depending on your body. I'm only 5 feet and half of an inch tall and when I dropped 8 lbs it was noticeable in my face and several people commented. I have mini goals set on MFP, so I can re-evaluate my progress as I reach those goals, but it was great to hear that someone noticed. You'll get to…

I have a friend that makes the most awesome mac n' cheese I've ever had ... he adds cubed steamed butternut squash and cooked kale. I've swapped out regular pasta for whole wheat pasta and fiber added pasta. I've also added cooked ground turkey for a bit of protein since the flavor doesn't compete with the cheese, veggies…

Congrats on your weight loss - you look fantastic!!

^^^ This! She is so right! Doesn't matter when you do it, just do it. I am a night owl, not a morning person - all of my workouts during the week are after work around 8pm or 9pm. I find the evening workouts followed by a warm shower gives me better sleep. You'll find a routine that works best for you because you'll be the…

This is the COOLEST story!!! Congrats to you guys on 32 years together!

If you have the calories left in your daily allotment you could have a spoonful of creamy peanut butter and a square of dark chocolate, one spoonful of mint chocolate chip ice cream (I don't like to double dip or dirty a bowl so I just need one spoonful), a piece of whole wheat toast with a thin spread of nutella, or just…

Amber had some great advice! Definitely load up on the healthy options first and then wait a bit to see if you have any room for sweets - you probably won't! If you're staying in a hotel with a gym/pool you can always squeeze in some "me" time in the mornings or evenings every other day to get some cardio in. If you have…

I agree with the other comments - sounds like your doc is jerk. You deserve better medical advice than "just move!" If you're comfortable walking and swimming you can definitely start there, but if you have the time/money to have a few sessions with a certified personal trainer they can help you find exercises to safely…
