I posted a similar topic recently and ended up buying the Polar FT4 based on the recommendations I received. I was assured by others that I wouldn't mind the chest strap. It's really not bad and doesn't interfere with my walking at all. Now I can't imagine wearing it with an uderwire bra, but that's personal preference. ;)

I am also a "real" cook. I have had to change my cooking habits over the past few years, mainly due to my husband's diagnosis as a type 2 diabetic. I still cook with real butter, make baked goods, and even write a food blog, but I am losing weight by tracking what I eat on MFP and walking a few extra laps to burn off the…

Just 1 mile today. I'd better move my *kitten* a little faster if I'm going to make my goal!

2 miles walking

Storms here today - 1.2 miles on Gazelle.

Long walk today!

Only had time for 1.1 miles today - I walk in the country and the wildlife starts coming out when it gets dark. That means skunks and bears.

I'm trying to order one on Amazon and having problems with it. I emailed them, and hopefully I'll get a reply soon. :)

Thanks! I just looked at a Polar FT4F on Amazon.com. I might have to get one of those.

I'm sure this isn't nearly as accurate as the chest strap model. Maybe one day I'll break down and get one. This little thing is a stepping stone for me in a way. Thanks for all the feedback!

I used a couple of sites, but the easiest one was http://www.calories-calculator.net/Calories_Burned_By_Heart_Rate.html

This is what I was thinking, too. It always does total everything up, but only lists one type of exercise. If it uses the word "including" this could be it. Now if it says, "Joe Blow burned 750 calories walking slow pace for 20 minutes" or the like, than it's probably BS.

1.5 miles walked today.

Congratulations! You look great and you should be so proud!

Mine is all walking - my knees won't let me run!

I like big mutts... Oliver (white and black) is half boxer and, we think, part rottweiler and part lab. Max (brown) is a true Heinz 57. He isn't what we thought he was or what we were told he was. We had his DNA done and he's part boxer, rottweiler, Australian shepherd, cocker spaniel, dalmation, and chow chow. :)

Okay - I'm in! I'm aiming for 45 miles this month.

Chill everyone. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Neverstray has an opinion. It's just that. Don't crucify someone for what they believe. True, much fast food is purely fatty and filling, but many fast food joints have healthier choices. I do try to avoid it, but there are times when being at home and cooking the…

My weight goal is to get to down to 130 lbs. I was there about the time I turned 40, but gained 20 lbs over the next 5 years or so. I'd also like to feel comfortable enough in my skin to tuck things in. It might sound strange, but I simply don't feel comfortable and always wear my tops out, untucked. The weight I gained…

I'm 5' 4.5" and currently 143lbs, goal 130.. At my heaviest I was 150. No one looking at me would have called me "fat", but when the clothes start to fit tighter, even the bigger sizes, and you start to feel down on yourself, it's your decision to lose a few pounds and/or tone up what you've got. I don't announce to anyone…

Hi! I sent you a friend request.

They say it's "to get to the other side", but I think the chicken had an ulterior motive.

Call your doctor's office and explain what's going on. Ask if you should be seen right away or can wait over a month. They may order some blood work that could be done now rather than waiting until that appointment.

It seems like every week there's something new you should "NEVER" eat because it's bad for you, makes you fat, makes you diabetic, causes cancer, etc. Anything in moderation shouldn't cause problems. Overdoing it on a regular basis will.

I have it. I bought a used copy to try it. I would probably give it 3 stars (of 5) if I were rating it. I don't use it on Xbox live, but I've used it a couple of times. In a 20 minute beginner workout, I can work up a good sweat and really get my heart pumping. The downside is that my space is a bit limited and the Kinect…
