Thanks so much, all- I really appreciate it. Even the random post above does give me something to work with, that people spent thousands and that I need to bear the zillions of different types of people I have and will encounter in the gym. A lot of this stuff may seem obvious to people reading this thread, but it is a…

I did wonder about that, myself. It's one of my stronger lifts.

I definitely agree with a lot of that. I think that being a friend is important, but still maintaining a balance so that the client doesn't feel that they can distract with the friendship. I'm not sure I put that as clearly as I would like- but I see a lot of trainers at my gym spending their hour chatting about love lives…

Ok, that's really great, but not so helpful.

I do try to keep an open mind, and I do feel nutrition is a big part of being healthy. Sounds like you got a bad deal there :/

bump?

OHP day here too! My left arm was being quite naughty, but I tamed it.
-
Ok, but I think that might also have to do with your size at this point. Other people might have to work much harder, in an unhealthy way to burn that much.

You mention the idea of scaling back makes you start to tear up- I think that's a HUGE sign you're over-doing it. I tried this a long time ago. The more I learned about my body, the less I could justify it. I also started to feel worse and worse without any physical gains except the numbers coming down- but what good is it…

So you only eat at night?

As said, sashimi. If you're getting sushi from places that don't offer any sort of sashimi, I'd try a real sushi place. I imagine it will taste much better than store-bought stuff.

Sometimes I am really good 5 days a week and then am bad for 2 days. I'm lucky if I don't GAIN weight, but I surely don't lose anything. The old cliche- consistency is key...

Well, it sounds like at this point you WANT to tell him, but, understandably, you're nervous about it. I think at this point it's going to bother you until you go for it. I hope it goes well for you :)

but wait no one explained how to remove glutes from my diet can u help

I feel sorrier for the MIL my husband has to deal with.
-
Totally. This is why after years of abusing myself on fixed path machines, I have to correct so many muscle imbalances and focus on that before I can hit my strength training in the manner I would like to :/
-
I laughed when I saw the "push the fat further out" thing, then I became concerned. No. Bad. No wheatgrass shots for you, naughty trainer.

Nice work, I love to see people taking fitness into their own hands, into their own home :)

Thanks to this, I got into the gym and kicked some major butt!!!

Well, steak is a very satiating creamer.

When I feel lazy and unmotivated, like today where I just couldn't sleep and I feel generally ick- I know that what my body wants more than anything is some fresh air, some exercise, and some real foods. Of course, often my head tells me I want sugary carbs and lots of cheese (mmm) but I know the right choices are going to…

Yeah, see that part- I don't buy. I think it has some benefits, but not that.

Compound movements that involve more muscle groups (i.e. deadlift vs. bicep curls) are going to both raise your HR more and burn more overall calories. Though- take strength training for what it is- it is an investment in the metabolism bank!!! Edit- among 5000 other awesome things, like being stronger and more functional.
-
Have to agree with storm though- yeah, there will be a cost, but think of it as a long term investment that will definitely benefit you :)

Can you do aqua exercise?
-
I took a bit of a course on these things. I think they have their use in rehabilitation, stretch and possibly bone density, but don't even bother with calories unless you were working out on it- in which case count what the calories would have been without the machine. The course read like a sales ad, which turned me off…

There is an option under cardio to add in strength training. If you're going decently hard, it isn't too far off (at least for me). Check it out.
