  • Pit does not suprise me. We thought that too. I think the vet did not want to mention it when Salley was a puppy. We also noticed she looks a lot like the Rhodesian Ridgeback/Pit mixes we have seen. She is the sweetest dog. Very affectionate and smart. A little stubborn to, but it gives her personality. We love her to bits…
  • What kind of dog do you have. She looks just like mine. We found Salley on the side of the road when she was about 8 weeks old. Vet said Boxer Lab mix. We think some bull dog too.
  • Put the alarm across the room or in the bathroom. You have to get up to turn it off. It's helped me. I don't do a heavy workout in am. Just 45-60 dog walk (plan to add jogging soon), but it certainly gets me going in the morning. And it has gotten easier. Knowing the dog needs her exercize also motivates me to get up and…
  • I have been taking inulin with breakfast for quite a while. I added psyllium to every meal about a month ago . I take 3-4 of the Earth Fare brand with each meal. With all that, I'm averabing about 20-25 grams a day. I wish it were higher. Many days I have no grains at all, so it is difficult. I do get a good bit of…
  • Read your other post and agree with all of it. It's a shame such mis-information is out there. I'm not terribly familiar with the idea of macros but this is helpful. I worry that I don't eat enough whole grains due to gluten intollerance. Also Hypothryoid, so always try to eat lots of protien. I plan to review again later…
  • IMO its just another marketing ploy to get people to buy more program materials.... Sorry so negative, but really why in the world would you count points instead of calories? It's actually more confusing. It's a formula based on calories, fat and fiber. By making it complicated people need to purchase materials (or pay for…
  • Tea has caffiene which is a diuretic. You really can't count all of it as water. Try to find something without sodium or caffiene to supplement your tea intake. Water with lemon or other fruit squeezd in. For something with fiz try no sodium free soda water with a couple ounces of oj or favorite juice. Very refreshing. You…
  • It's been said again and again. But You truly are an inspiring young woman.
  • That's just not normal. Talk to your doctor. It may just be you re pushing too hard, and need to back of on intensity, but I would want a stress test to confirm it's not something significant. I'm 48 and get my heart rate up to 160 for brief periods. I whipped after it, but don't pass out.
  • Another thing to remember is that your body is different now than it was at 18. You have a mature body, not a teen's body. I know everyone says that females stop growing in their teens, but that's not completely true. You may have reached full height, but had not reached full muscle, bone and mental maturity until a few…
  • I'm having a similar issue. I have lost more off my hips than my waiste at this point. It's new for me because I always had a small waist in comparison to my hips. At first I lost a lot more in my waist than anywhere else, then all of a sudden I was losing in my hips and thighs. I was thrilled because they are my problem…
  • I agree with this. I've pressed nutritionist on it and never get a satisfactory response so I researched myself. Nothing I found indicates that eating at certain time has in impact other than being a strategy that works for some people. I do try to eat about 2 hours before bed just to avoid heartburn or indegestion issues.…
  • I am not as large as some others, but doubling up on the sports bra or sports bra over regular bra helps. I double up on the sports braw when I'm doing more energetic stuff. I also like the elliptical for that very reason. Less stress on joints and less bounce. Maybe double up for now and then when you get close to your…
  • It does sound like he is insecure. Mine was happy, but skeptical, when I started and has not said anything about me getting too skinny or too many muscles (he better not either after b1?#ing about me losing weigt for 15 years). After I had lost about 20 lbs, he started looking at his pooch. Believe it or not, he cut back…
  • You only have 12lbs to go. Your rate of loss is likely to slow down a bit. Increasing exercize intensity may help. I also think it will help that you bumped calories up and once you go down again, you will start seeing a loss. Like others say, watch your salt intake. I would also consider reducing my expectations for loss,…
  • I wit you on that one.
  • Houglass usually means your hips and chest measurements are no more than an inch different. and 10 inches different between waist and hips. So 36/25/37 is traditional hourglass. A pear would be mor like 36/27/38.
  • Another thing. Ditch the slim fast and eat some real food at lunch. You will feel a lot fuller and still keep calories under a reasonable goal. For a 6ft guy 1200 is too low. I'm 5'1" woman and 48 years old and have mine set at 1350. I'm averaging about 3 lbs loss a month. A good break down for me is 250-300 calories at…
  • My mom never bought us junk food or soda as a kid. If we wanted it, we had to use our own spending money at the corner store. We also ate what she cooked or did not eat. I remember sitting at the table when I was 7 yrs old staring at a plate of green beans. I did not want them and my mom said it was all I was getting. We…
  • That's exactly what I'm getting at. I would never know you weigh 128 lbs from your pic. Obviosly you could carry more weight and still be in the very fit range. No one ever believed I weighed 195 lbs. I looked a lot smaller than that. I am not concerned about being really thin or a particular size. I just want to be fit…
  • The 30 inch waist size is a good suggestion. I'm still a little bigger than that. I can say that I'm pretty suprised that 12p are actually too big already. I have never been a size 4 though. Even in high school and on the track team, I did not wear anything below a 7 (I think I weighed about 118 then but was only 4'11").…
  • I'm sorry, but your post offended me. I am an intellegent, self aware woman. I am not making excuses about my weight or even worring about what others think. I was asking for honest opinion from KNOWLEDGEABLE people. I'm not giving up or even struglling with the actuall weight loss. I've been at this for 9 months and…
  • I agree about BMI. It's a good snap shot, but does not take important variables into account. My original goal did not include an actual weight. I wanted to be able to wear an AnneTaylor 10p. I wore my Anne Taylor 12p (curvy cut) pants on Friday. They are now big. I can probably wear the 10 or certainly within the next 5…
  • I've thought about that. I have not been able to find a location to have a water displacement test done. Plus I'm not sure of the cost.
  • Just don't give up. Getting started is the hardest part. If you can get through the first few weeks, it will start getting easier and the cravings will ease. With small children you probably burn well over 1200 calories a day chasing them. You might want to up your intake a bit and see what happens. Also, allow a bit of…
  • It does depend on frame size. I'm only 5"1", but very large frame. Most woment my size have a 5"-5 3/4" wrist, mine is 6 1/2", and the other measurements for neck, elbow, etc are essentially off the chart for 5'1" woman (for comparison wrist is essentially the same size as my 6ft husband who has a small to medium frame ).…
  • MFP does have the fiber set a bit low. The absolute minimum for women is 25 grams a day and it's higher for men. I wish I could get 40+ grams a day. I am Gluten Free so I don't get as much whole grain as a lot of people. I supplement with fiber 2-3 times a day to stay close to 30 grams.
  • The important part of those time out is the time spent with friends and family. The food is just part of the experience. I also like that I typically take something home now. I feel like I'm getting more for my money.
  • bump. very interesting.
  • I hate to say it, but you may not be able to run without some sort of discomfort. The shoes were not a waste, you may just need to go slower or do some conditioning first. I was a runner in high school and continued jogging in college, but at 48, I really can't do it anymore. I keep trying, but the knees and hips are not…
