You're feeling weak because you're not eating enough. Eat your NET calories. You need to fuel your exercise, your recovery, etc)

You switched to MFP from WW. MFP does not equal WW. Therefore, you can't/shouldn't use MFP as if it was WW and expect it to work. Use MFP the way MFP is designed to be used and you won't be hungry. You've been using MFP for 4 days and have already decided it doesn't work. You need to give it more time. Stick to it long…

Putting my 2c in. I've been in maintenance since October 2013. I bounce between 71-75 kg. When I get to 75kg, I eat in deficit until I get back to about 73 kg and then go back to maintenance calories and control my weight more through exercise. I have had three periods since October where I haven't logged. One week in…

Another option for you could be some Orange, Date and Polenta Muffins (137 cal, 10 carbs, 5 fat, 2 protein, 55 sodium, 1 fibre per muffin) 2 cups water 1/3 cup maple syrup finely grated rind of 1 orange 4 Tbsp coconut oil 1 cup fine polenta (cornmeal) 1/2 cup almond meal 1/2 cup dates, chopped 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (or…

Haha!! I wish. :) I love cooking so it wouldn't be too much for me. :) The recipe for mine is roughly: 1 Tbsp olive oil 1 small onion, diced 1 small zucchini, shredded or finely diced 1 small carrot, shred or dinely diced a few florets of broccoli, chopped 250g firm tofu, sliced thinly then crumbled 1/2 tsp mild curry…

Your diary is not open for us to see (maybe you opened it just for friends?). If you're not weighing your food, that's where you could be going wrong. Weighing your food is so important. It is so easy to over/under estimate what you're eating. You could be eating well over your goal by estimating your food.

You could make up a big pot of baked beans with mushrooms, zucchini, tomatoes, etc and just reheat the portion that you need each day. Overnight oats? Or slow-cooker porridge? For overnight oats, literally just put a portion of oats, fruit, nuts, milk of choice (I prefer soy or coconut milk) in a bowl and leave covered in…

You're eating between 1000-1200 calories per day and you're burning off 250 cal at the gym every day, which means that you are only putting 750-950 cal in your body every day! This is far from enough food. You need to eat a minimum of 1200 calories NETT to keep you going and to be able to lose weight. You're not eating…

Thank you so much for sharing this. Well done on your success! Good on you for making the decision to empower yourself now. I have been so lucky that most of my skin has been shrinking as I've lost weight. I needed the perspective your photos gave me today. I hope that I have said it so it sounds as grateful as I mean it…

Don't go by the iron that MFP lists. If it's something that has been added by a member, they can only add what is on the nutritional label. I have only come across ONE food item in Australia that has Iron listed on the nutritional panel. Foods that I know are high in iron would show as 0g of iron simply because it's not…

Thank you for posting these pictures. It really helps to have visuals and people's perspectives/experiences.

I'm a vegetarian who eats mostly vegan (and have been for the past 7 years). From March 2012-October 2013 I lost 69kg (over 152lbs). I have been in maintenance ever since. Vegetarian and Vegan eating is so varied. You don't need to get all your calories from carbs. I eat a relatively high protein diet (certainly above our…

I have a polar ft7. I use it for my exercises and I find the heart rate and calorie burn I can see as I go really motivating. I wore it when I was only able to walk and now I wear it when I run 25km (15mile) races. I also wear it when I swim (the ft7 is waterproof, whereas the ft4 is not). I'm looking at upgrading to a…

Cheryl, this looks great! Importantly, it's something that you are enjoying and therefore you are more likely to keep doing. yoga will be a good stretch routine for you. It can also, depending on what kind of yoga you're doing, it will be a nice complement to your strength training.

Simply put, you can eat back the 300 calorie and still lose weight (a gross of 1980 - nett of 1680)

Completely agree! Love your attitude to it all and love your approach. Starting out is one thing, keeping the resolve long term is another. In my experience, and the experience of so many people I know, keeping yourself on such a restricted amount of calories is not sustainable. I really had to learn that I needed to eat…

I agree with the others. I would also add that you're always better off choosing the entries separately. E.g. Choose "Mushrooms - raw" - 100g and "Western Star Butter Spreadable" - 500g tub - 10g NOT "Fried Mushrooms" from the database because you don't know what the person has calculated when they entered the calories. It…

Nutritional yeast (nooch) is a great way of adding a cheesy flavour to your pizza without the cheese. You could always make a "cheese sauce" with the nooch and drizzle that over your pizza. I "dot" notzarella (or mozzarella if you want the real cheese) over my pizza. I also add more garlic to my base as that gives me the…

I'm going to make this. Can anyone convert "all purpose flour" into Australian for me please? Is this "plain flour"?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4. It has a built in pedometer which is awesomely accurate (yep...I counted) and it measures steps taken at a walk, run and on the spot through some kind of witchcraft which I am happy to not understand. Lol. It motivates me to no end. An MFP friend of mine got a fitbit (can't remember which model)…

I think I need to try this.

OMG...Now I want Sanitarium Natural PB smothered in maple syrup and cinnamon!! *saves this "dish" to fuel my 25km trail run next month*

To the OP (Elle), Sorry your experience here on mfp wasn't the greatest start. I hope you've got some support(ive) people, now. I just wanted to give you some insight into what happens when you start off 70+ kg (154+ lbs) overweight and you get to the point where you'd really like to lose the last 3 kg (7 lbs) for you to…

Yay!! Glad to hear. Well done. And congrats on finishing Wk5!!

Such a joy to read this reply, Petefry. I certainly hope that the Blue group has less walkers than the Yellow group (seriously, did these people not read?! Walkers are supposed to be in the Orange group! No prams, no pushed wheelchairs, no walkers...anyway). I don't mind those that take walking breaks in between their…

*high five's Squamation* That's some seriously impressive work! Well done.

I'm sorry you're struggling to see your successes with the scales not moving. Just to give you a small example of how things can change dramatically...This morning my scale showed 0.1 kg (0.22 lbs) loss...but this morning I ran in size L Nike compression pants and they felt too big (last week they fit just fine), so this…

Exactly! I run slower than my partner can walk. And that's ok. I'll tell you honestly how slow is too slow...the speed you're running at when you're sitting on the couch. Anything else, as long as it's what you need to do, is totally fine. Don't stress about speed. It will come with time.

Sounds great. How many servings? How many cals/serving?

Welcome, friend! Congratulations on making that first step and signing up. I think you've made a great realisation when you said the reason you didn't follow through with other programmes is that you "couldnt be bothered to keep it up". If I might offer something of myself, the reason MFP has been easier to keep up with…
