And they usually have water stations throughout, so you can grab a small cup of water and keep going without having to carry water with you. I guess that could be different in each run though.

It took me 3 hours 8 minutes to do my half marathon last year. I was still pretty heavy and I jogged 2 min., walked 1 min. Everybody in my group was aiming for under or right at 3 hours. It's quite an accomplishment! You can do it! On a side note: Those gel packs are nasty! But if you do use them, be sure you drink water…

I have the same problem. I am even obese, but have exercised regularly for years. I have a polar HRM with strap. I did a spin class today for the first time and I thought that this will really do it. Kevin, looking at your July "before" picture brings tears to my eyes. I am amazed at how far you've come and I'm so so very proud of you!
