57 miles this morning and I feel one of those rest days coming on. Maybe I'll take Monday off...I need it.

Yes. First of all, relax your upper body, arms, shoulders, and hands. And the reason road bikes have those funny looking handlebars is so you can change positions often. Alternate between hands on the brake hoods, on the drops, and on the tops...always keeping your arms slightly bent inward toward your body, not pointed…

Lots of miles this M-F...just under 200. This weekend should bring my total for the week to about 320. Getting close.

The next challenge will most likely be for the month of October. We've been doing it by calendar month. Set your own mileage goals. I tried two tickers in my signature and it works fine.
-
Added some extra mileage to my commute home tonight to ride with a friend...but it was slooooooow.

It's looking like I need to do a full drivetrain cleaning as well. I've replaced the chain, cassette, and big chainring, and it's still noisy as hell. I think the rear mech might need some new jockey wheels, or maybe just a good scrub. I miss the quiet hum of all that carbon fiber.

Cold ride to work this morning, but I think we're headed for a mini-heatwave this week in SoCal. Just 10 days and ~300 miles to go.
-
Wow!! That's some great mileage. Keep it up!

Absolutely beautiful weather this morning for a great 60 mile ride in the hills. Week 1 (Partial) = 88 Miles Week 2 = 286 Week 3 = 274 September Total = 648

64 miles today. Need to do at least 50 tomorrow to stay on track.
-
Half the month down, and I'm close to being on track (I finished yesterday with 485). Still on track for 1000 though. Looks like everyone is doing great against their goals.

Just remember...it's all about outliving your "dumbass ex"...I loved that comment.

I'm sure I still consistenly undereat, but I get so much cardio workout that I lose weight no matter what. My metabolism can't shutdown because I rev it up twice a day with my bike commute to work in the morning and home at night. But my friends all tell me to eat more. I eat about 1700 calories a day, and burn around 900…

I had to take a day off the bike yesterday. My body can always tell when it's had enough and I'm overtraining. So this morning I felt spry again and made one of my fastest commutes to work. It pays to rest every now and then.

Half mile is a long pull. Pull off sooner and you'll have enough left to tuck back in at the back of the pack. But I know it can be fun to sit at the front for a while.
-
It doesn't really matter what your mileage goal is. Just pick a number you think you can reasonably achieve and then do your best. It's never too late to start. Good luck!!

So that's 2 lbs a week, which is about the limit for healthy weight loss. Just be sure to have a balance of diet AND exercise and you should be able to get close.
-
I'm just lucky to have the perfect commute to work and a schedule that lets me do it.

Week 1 (Partial) = 88 Miles Week 2 = 286 Total for September = 374

Very strange 65 mile ride this morning in SoCal. Started out normal nice weather, but halfway through an unexpected thunder & lightning storm rolled in with no warning. Got soaked, and very scary lightning strikes all around as we crested some climbs. Loudest thunder I've ever heard directly over head. Glad to be home and…

It's almost time to start pulling out the lights for my commute home in the evening. Not looking forward to the cold weather, but loving it right now in the 90s here in SoCal.
-
Well, the first thing would be to set a realistic goal for how many miles you think you can do in September. Assuming you have a bike already, just do as TheBigYin suggests. Good luck!!
-
Week 1 (Partial) = 88 Miles Off to a slow start because I was up at Mammoth Lakes and was only able to get one decent ride in at altitude. Should be back on track this week though.
-
Thanks for starting up the September thread. I'm back in for 1000 again.
-
Week 1 = 233 Week 2 = 284 Week 3 = 279 Week 4 = 240 Week 5 = 91 August Total: 1127 Is someone going to start a new thread for September?
-
Anyone interested in setting new goals for September? I'm going to keep mine at 1000 miles because I'm not sure I will be able to ride as much with the diminishing evening light. Does September require a new topic thread?
-
Excellent job!!

Week 1 = 233 Week 2 = 284 Week 3 = 279 Week 4 = 240 4 Week Total: 1036 Might get another 100 before the end of the month, but I'm pretty tired and might take a day off this week. Good job everyone with your goals.

I don't do anything as structured as that, but every 10 days or so I make sure to have a meal where I eat whatever I want. I don't track the calories, I don't care how many calories it is, and then I go right back to my program.

Came up a little short today with only 55 miles because of the heat wave here in SoCal. Tomorrow I'll meet the goal though.
