After my short commute home tonight, that will only leave 66 miles, which I should get tomorrow. So Sunday through Wednesday will all be gravy.
-
Home stretch...less than a hundred to go. Woohoo!!
-
I meant commute, not cummute.
-
I currently ride a Specialized Tarmac Pro SL. During the week my cummute to work is 37 miles roundtrip, and then I usually get about 100 on the weekends. Without riding to work I could never get that much mileage. Good job on the 750!!

Only a week to go...I can smell the barn.
-
I had to take Monday off due to exhaustion. Should still reach my goal over the weekend.
-
Week 1 = 233 Week 2 = 284 Week 3 = 279 Should reach my goal this coming week and have a day or two to spare.

76 miles today. I am soooo done for the day. Hope I have something left for tomorrow.
-
Felt a little better on my ride in to work today and made good time. 58 minutes to cover 18.5 miles with TONS of traffic lights and good rolling hills the whole way.
-
40 miles tonight. Still freakin tired. Maybe I'll feel better on the weekend.
-
Had to take a day off the bike yesterday. Just too tired. This week only 69 miles so far.
-
Did a light 27 mile recovery ride this evening. Still tired from yesterday though. Week 1 Total: 233 Miles Week 2 Total: 284 Miles
-
78 Miles today with a bit of climbing. Now I need to eat, soak, and nap. I am whipped.
-
Yeah, that's definitely been going around. Feel better.
-
Did 40 miles tonight at our local Thursday night training race. Well, 27 of that is the race, and then 13 miles to get there and back. Still makes for a hard night.
-
1/3 of August down, 1/3 of my miles down. Back on track. Woohoo!!

Unless you're a construction worker, I think it's best to put "sedentary" and then add in your specific workouts. It will give you a more conservative baseline. It's always best to underestimate your burn and overestimate your consumption.

Just enjoy your vacation. And it may sound cliche, but just take it one day at a time...it can be too overwhelming to think of how far you have to go to get where you want to be. Just make small changes to get the ball rolling and find fun ways to motivate yourself.

There is no way to "accurately" figure it out with the information you have. There are too many variables. The best you can do is go by your percieved exertion level. If it was a pace where you could talk easily and not too out of breath, figure about 4-5 calories burned per minute. If you were breathing hard but could…

Unfortunately, no, the pain will never go away. Just kidding. Even as much as I ride, if I switch saddles it can take weeks until I can sit comfortably. Do make sure you have good shorts, and I would recommend bib shorts because they keep everything in place. If you don't know, bib shorts have an upper portion that goes…

Gotta love it when someone new discovers the joy of cycling. The saddle soreness goes away...eventually. Please let me know if you have any questions about bike gear, technique, bike etiquette, etc. Happy trails.

No, it's not from gaining muscle. Even bodybuilders who spent ridiculous hours in the gym, and eat to gain will only gain maybe 2 lbs per month. Women even less, maybe 1-1.5 pounds a month. So it's a myth that you will gain enough muscle to offset the bodyfat that you should be losing. It is most likely fluid retention,…

Had a good weekend and was able to get just over 100 miles on Sat/Sun. Week 1 Total = 233 I'll need to do a little extra over the next three weeks for falling behind.
-
Bike commuting to work is the only way I can do it. Gives me about 180 Monday-Friday plus about 80-100 on the weekend. And yes, I'm tired all the time.
-
Yeah, but the only reason I can do that is because I have no life. Ride, work, ride, eat, bed...that's my day. Woohoo!! :)

Started feeling a cold coming on Tuesday night so I'm a little behind, but should finish this week with about 220. I'll have to make up some ground the rest of the month. Hate getting sick.
-
20 miles roundtrip is still a good amount of mileage. Just let half the air out of your tires, that'll make it feel like you're going up hill all the time. You should move out here to Southern California...we have flat, mountains, coast, desert, pretty much everything a cyclist could want.

I ride to work pretty much everyday which gives me about 180 during the work week. Then I get 90-100 on the weekend. A good week is close to 300, and a bad week is closer to 200 if it's raining or if I have early meetings. I try to keep it consistent. I hate indoor trainers so I avoid doing that at all cost.

You will most likely get quite a few different responses here as well I'm guessing. That's because everyone metabolises differently, and there is no one size fits all remedy for weight loss. But a good "general" rule of thumb that seems to work for a lot of people is to begin with your base calories (in your case 1200) is…

Hi mattellis2, I currently ride a Specialized Tarmac SL Pro. My ride to work is about 19 miles each way and it takes me about an hour. But there are a lot of street lights, and a lot of rolling hills. Then on the weekends I usually do two rides of about 50 miles each. We do a lot of mountain passes so our average is…
