  • Whether you follow this site, WW, or any other calorie/point counting website (or any diet really) it's what you make of it. I follow WW and track on here. I don't feel that either of the plans encourage convenience foods necessarily. I think some people flock to convenience foods because they are just that - convenient. I…
  • I pretty much only use sweetener when it's called for in recipes but I just stick to basic sugar. Or for my son in the morning instead of syrup he eats honey.
  • It looks empty for what it costs!! Here is what I got Friday: Cherry tomatoes Apples Mushrooms Strawberries Dark chocolate bar Tuna fish Popcorn Corn tortillas Kraft Mac N Cheese for "emergency" dad cooks day when I go to Zumba Frozen broccoli Frozen spinach Lean cuisine spring rolls Turkey burger (loose) Jenni O Turkey…
  • I really think that the vomit could have done it for me! I'm not really the jealous type but I can almost guarantee that if my husband was out having a nice dinner and relaxing and I'm cleaning up puke - I'd be snippy. Completely not his fault and my own issue, but I'm just being honest - I'd be annoyed. Then the vomit…
  • Ha Yes THIS would be taking it too far for me...
  • Ok I only read the first post, but I don't see anything wrong with it just at face value. When I travel for work conferences with a coworker and we want dinner after the training/conference whatever, I won't say no just b/c they are of the opposite sex. And I work in Investments - it's 90% guys, so I'm usually the…
  • I almost always have sf hot chocolate in the evening. Another thing I eat a lot is plain yogurt with frozen fruit and I'll put in a serving of pb2 - love that combo!
  • I'm messaging you now!
  • I'm on my own tonight b/c the boys will be having pizza from a place that doesn't excite me, so I'm having tofu, roasted veggies, and soba noodles.
  • I have to say my biggest "packaged" weaknesses are probably: PB2 SF hot chocolate Lean Cuisine thai chicken spring rolls
  • Also I know I'm always plugging these websites and I promise I'm not paid to do so, but skinnytaste.com and emilybites.com have amazing recipes that I think are family friendly. Plus a lot of them have casseroles and/or food that is easy to make ahead or freeze.
  • For breakfasts if you like oatmeal I would suggest making a crock pot full of steel cut oats on the weekend and portion out and refrigerate. They are super quick to grab and microwave in the morning. Or the same with making a lot of scrambled eggs. I'd plan ahead so that in the morning it's easy to grab something,…
  • Most (American) Chinese dishes have a lot of sodium so you would likely see a temporary gain from it. But unless you are watching sodium for another reason, I'm not sure it really matters if you have a gain one day, especially when you know what it's from. Obviously that's just my opinion though.
  • This. And now I want pizza.
  • I think overall it does. I think you can lose weight ( I KNOW you can) eating all junk food. My husband does it often (but does tend to gain it all back). I think that overall you can lose weight eating less calories than you burn. I know that for me my body looks MUCH better when I'm choosing foods that have more…
  • I'm saving this for when I get home. I'm currently tracking on both sites adn this would be so much easier!
  • No need to be, but thanks! I don't feel like I NEED a little bit of ice cream, donut, cake, cookies, peanut butter egg, whatever....every single day. If I want cake - I have it. If I want ice cream - I'll eat it. But I'm doing it when I want, when I feel like it, and when it works for me. Not just because someone else is…
  • I'd be interested, though I'm leary of the minimal dairy. I eat plain (organic) greek yogurt daily. But it's worth a look!
  • I agree with pretty much this whole post. I'm much more strict wtih my food than others, and nowhere near as strict as some. but I will NEVER feel like I have to eat something to be polite or keep from hurting someone's feelings, unless it's my grandma, and she's dead. If I ate "just a little bit" of everything that people…
  • My biggest downfalls were Pasta, Chinese buffet, and snacks like Doritos. Don't get me wrong - I knew at the time they weren't low calorie! And my portion control was insane. Now I am strict about measuring pasta, I avoid Chinese buffets like the plague and I just don't eat the snacks. Not until I learn better moderation!
  • My favorite is carrots but I never get tired of them. I've heard of people taking a low calorie tortilla and baking it and beaking it up like the chips, so that might work. Other than that - any vegetable that is crispy really. Pretzels? Rice cakes?
  • I'm a distance runner (or was before surgery and will be again here soon). In high school I did the 800, mile and 2 mile. I also did cross country. I love running half marathons, and I'm trying my first full this year (I hope). I do very much enjoy running a (for me) fast 5K too.
  • I understand being busy - it's hard sometimes. Between working 50 hrs/week, a toddler, volunteer stuff, gym, and church - it's busy. What I've found is it is so much easier for me to take a couple/few hours on a weekend (or whatever day you have the most free time) and cook ahead. This past weekend I made: Wheat pancakes…
  • Here is what I have on hand all the time: Oatmeal Skim milk Lots of fresh fruit Frozen vegetables (and some fresh, depending what's on sale) Carrots Hummus FF Greek plain yogurt frozen fruit Pb2 Tofu/veggy protein Items I use often but not daily Eggs Peanut Butter Natural almonds Dried beans
  • I actually love WW and this site both. For different reasons. WW works for me - I lost my weigh with them, and maintained for two years. Actually longer, but it was interrupted by a pregnancy. I do think WW can teach you how to eat - it did for me anyway. And I never once bought their products b/c they are typically over…
  • I don't always have full meals cooked ahead, but I always cook on Saturday to make prep easier for the rest of the week. For instance, this is what I prepped this Saturday: Home made wheat pancakes for my son (he ate some and I froze the rest) Boiled and soaked black beans for the week Baked tofu to use in several dishes…
  • I messaged you this morning, but I finally got around to reading these responses. I personally definitely do not believe in "starvation mode". When I was at my heavier weight after having my son I joined WW (which I do love), and I was training for half marathons. I ran a lot (though not your 100 miles a month - it was a…
  • I am not one to ever say ....you need to eat more to lose weight, but that is a very low number of calories for that much running! Are you eating back the calories you burn? I trained for races all last year and didn't come near 100 miles a month - I couldn't have lived on 1200 calories.
  • I don't usually have a set "thing I eat" before or after a workout. Usually if I'm lifting at the gym on my lunch break - I just eat nothing before and my lunch after. Same with running - I typically don't eat anything in particular before and I'll eat my dinner and/or evening snack after. The only times that's different…
