  • Are you trying to lose weight for surgery or something? I have been told by my dr to go on a 1200 cal diet (have about 40lbs to lose) but the reason he said so low was because I have massive medical issues that stop me losing weight. Are you sure he/she didn't tell you to have some form of protein etc?
  • AAAAHHHH just wrote the longest post and it got deleted.... anyway, thanks for all your replies, I will attempt to explain all!! 1) dr is awesome!! He knows me well, knows my dieting/eating habits and knows that I know a lot about food... He was merely saying that I clearly need a calorie in vs calorie approach as Im not…
  • interesting... going to stick to just counting calories for now, and aiming for eating healthy, and once I'm a bit used to it, I will cut carbs, increase protein etc.... limit to how much I can focus on at once!! i want to see if tho sis what will kickstart my weight loss!! wanted to try for another kid in about 3 months,…
  • yup, that's what he meant! He said there are morbidly obese patients who he puts on 600 calories prior to surgery or something and they watch them closely etc. But Im 5 7 and weigh 192, so whilst Im overweight, Im not huge if that makes sense!! When you say net, you mean eating back right? But do I take into account that…
  • I don't eat that much dairy - only one coffee in the morning! Dr isn't a hack - he said the wait to see a dietitian is months on end, and seeing as I am a sensible person, who knows about dieting etc, it is unlikely they can tell me anything I don't know already! Steroids can often make you gain weight, increase appetite,…
  • I would love to be in too! I have struggled with weight all my life, then struggled with infertility, and now that i Have a beautiful baby the struggle to lose weight is even worse!! How much do you guys have to lose?
  • Hi! I have a health condition similar to lupus so I also deal with chronic pain on a daily basis. I find that psychologically, when i exercise, i can tell myself that I can function normally, and then I can... that is not to say it doesn't hurt, and that there are days wehre I physically cannot walk, but I like to be…
  • Hey, yes, I am strictly kosher, fully observant etc, and ye Shabbat meals are an actual killer.... add me if you like, Im happy to "hold your hand".. xx
  • I was just kinda straight everywhere. As in, overweight, but no where in particular and in the last couple of years (I am 27) my body shape changed completely, and I have become an actual pear... which is odd for me because it is so different to what I used to be. Either way, what exercise should us pears be doing to get…
  • Have always done some cardio coz don't like leaving the gym with out a red sweaty face.... Don't really have time for sports and stuff! With the gym I can go, do what I have to do and leave whereas other things are done on others people's times.... Gona try up the cardio, not eat back all cals and see what life brings
  • i live in an apartment block, and every so often I see my neighbour running up and down the stairs countless times. I am convinced that she is trying to burn calories to eat more but I feel too stupid asking her.... but ye, stairs is a good one.... walking around teh block a couple of times works too
  • need to add that weight loss is a very slow process for me normally, and as a result of not seeing much progress, I ummmm, aren't very good at keeping to it. However, if I know that doing more cardio will help, then I will do it in the hope.... please someone help...
  • I didn't mean literally angry with u... but if you exercise hard, build muscle etc, and then stop exercising, when those muscles eventually go away, will you be "fat" again? will u end up flabby?
  • the question is, what will happen when you stop burning this amount of calories every day? obviously, you won't eat them back then, but still, won't your body be "angry' with you then, meaning you will put weight back on?
  • ye I am an S & V addict too... I manage to stay away because I bought that salt shaker that tastes of the salt and vinegar they put on the crisps! I literally put it on everything Savoury that i eat and it helps a lot... The one I use is a South African flavouring, but they sell it all over...
  • Ok, thanks all... i not going to wear all day, as it seems it won't be accurate... I went for a walk yesterday for 47 minutes.... Was with a pregnant friend, so really wasnt walking all that fast, and it told me I burnt 345 calories.... that sounds quite high for me.... worried it's over estimating...
  • But we kinda know that from the first week right?? I mean, that "first time" they exercise, and they actually can do something, does that make sense to you?? The first time you went to the gym, however big or small u were, were u able to last that long in their? or able to do much... come on.... I must say, until this…
  • If you wore it for a few days, you should work out an average. Even if I do go to the gym those days, isn't that what I do on a regular basis anyway? As for searching for an HRM, I am aware of what they are etc, my question was more, if you can use it work out calories in the gym, why can't u use to work out calories…
  • excuse my ignorance, but why do I need to know my HR??? as in, I know when I can't do anymore no??? also, PP, why won't it help with all day? if I wear it for a few days all day, will it tell me my average cal burn???
  • me too... depends on what I'm doing, how I'm feeling, how rushed for time I am etc.
  • not a cat lover, but been thru chemo myself ( not for cancer!) so kinda been on part of ur journey... happy to be supportive... x
  • dont give up!!! Think about those 20lbs you have dropped in such a short period of time. Your body probably has to get used it's new existence before letting go of more fat. You can't realistically expect to lose at that pace the whole journey.... You have survived 5 whole weeks, you are doing so well, why give up now????
  • Wasn't aware of all that WW info, thanks. I am sure my friend eats unlimited fruit and veg, and never counts any of it... Oh well... I will log veggies for the next few weeks and see what happens... I know the whole no pain, no gain thing, but logging and weighing is annoying (although being fat is even more :p :p) who…
  • count me in.... teach 10/11 year olds... Ya think its the stress of teaching that necessitates us being here????
  • ok, ok, ok!! I'm not sure what the aggression is about, I was just asking a question.... I am not sure I was justifying it, nor was I encouraging the negative calories (merely mentioning it so that this debate doesnt happen here!) I was merely asking for clarification, seeing as I didn't quite get it. One of my friends on…
  • I been moaning about music on my ipod for a while now so just downloaded Now thats what I call running... Will see if that helps motivate me :-D
  • I too have these problems... I am BMI 26 so quite similar to u. do u eat before you go to the gym? if yes, how long before? what do u eat? these are the kind of things i need to take into account. If I have not eaten, I often find myself blacked out on the floor!!!! ALso, I find that if I do hardcore cardio, I sit out for…
  • ur an awesome dad... Just saying
  • I suffer from rLS along with a host of other things! Yes, after a workout I am in pain, but in the long run, the muscles and joints ease from the exercise and over all I feel fitter and healthier! I have lupus and RA as well, and I don't know what the source of the pain is! However the good feeling I get post exercise is…
  • Didn't work for me and I ate it for a long while...
