I am not a trainer or a PT, so I do not know all the physiology behind it, but there are certain benefits to exercising in certain ways. First off, in the exercise you listed, I could not tell if you were exercising in your maximum heart rate zone for over 25 minutes? This typically is the thumbnail rule for burning up fat…

Cruise = slow boat full of fatsos over-eating and going no where... pass. I would rather hike the Adirondacks...

It's just a difference between how we see ourselves and how others see us. I see myself in photos and still, my first thought is: yuck, FAT BOY. But when people see me who have not seen me in a long time, they are amazed at the shape I am now in and tell me so. So I just chalk it up to my mind and my eyes being used to…

Way to go Girl! The fact that you hung in there all the way from 2009 should change anyone's mind who thinks changing lifestyle is a short term fix. Congratulations and keep up the healthy lifestyle!

Cool - I have followed the "MediterrAsian Way" since January - has worked for me! http://www.mediterrasian.com/meda_living.htm

I will say up front I am not an expert and there are a ton of really informed, educated fit people on here who will better know the physiology. But there are a couple bits of information I have found to be really accurate (and have worked for me) so here goes: 1) Belly fat (especially in guys) is the hardest area to…

I think it is personal thing where you need to find what works for you. For me, I try to keep 2-400 calorie buffer under what MFP tells me to eat back in total (the green number). This has personally worked for me in that I eat more than enough to be satisfied, yet I have a calorie deficit happening that is clearly visible…

Are you exercising regularly? Your food diary does not look bad to me - it looks like your calories are good and your macros are split properly. As someone said earlier, you might want to try to get more whole type foods incorporated and less "box" foods - just healthier and more filling (IMO). Exercising allows you to…

When I started in January I was the same way. For me the key was making changes in small steps - not all at once. First thing I started with was fluid intake. What are you drinking? Is it loaded with HFCs? If so, reduce what you currently drink in half with water and substitute healthy alternatives. For example I would…

While blindfolded, facing east and hopping on one foot? Seriously - how might this aid directly in weight loss, other than being a harmless, somewhat pleasant fluid intake?

Anything that has the word "Green" in front of it now...

Not enough food... too many sugars not enough proteins/healthy fats IMHO.

Hahaha - I actually wondered about this too, but was too chicken to post it! I am divorced now anyway so it is a mute point - I can just post my sex life now as "swinging a hammer" - probably about the same calories

<committed P90x-er, reformed gym rat... You do not need to go to a gym to increase your strength and muscle definition. But you could probably make the case that a gym would be best for increasing muscle size (given the amount of weights, free weights and specialized benches etc.). P90X does include a good deal weight…

I reduced my intake down to 4 ounces mixed with half hot water, no sugar and non dairy creamer. I only drink it once a day with my morning snack - I find that the small amount of caffeine kicks starts me through the morning at work.

44 here - play A-level hockey every week with guys in their 20s-30s. Been doing P90x 5x per week since January and still loving it. The pains and aches only vanished once I gave up the Big Macs and chips, put down the remote and got up off my fat *kitten*. I would rather stay active and battle a sore knee or back than deal…

I have gotten wise enough to know these sort of topics always turn into a "healthy food vs. junk food" debate with about an equal amount of people on both sides so I won't go there. I do agree with you totally that if you deprive yourself of the tasty, delicious things in life, life in general sucks and you are doomed to…

Take small steps, make small adjustments and don't give up. Your health and your life are worth the effort and it will work. Good luck!

Personally, I feel it is about attitude and the way you make changes - just my personal experience. If you see this step of using MFP as a negative one - in the sense of "being on a diet" or restricting yourself or punishing yourself, then you are doomed to stop and return to old habits. I (and tons of other really fit…
