  • dasher602014, here you go: https://intensivedietarymanagement.com/dawn-phenomenon-t2d-8/.
  • So after 2 weeks of 16:8 without too much trouble, (lost 1.6 lbs!) I am trying two weeks of two 24 hour fasts and low carb eating on the other days, as per the Obesity Code book. I will let you know how it goes.
  • Made it through two weeks of IF--16:8. Not as hard as I thought, but I do need bulletproof coffee in the morning. I tried fasting without it, but I was starving all morning. I also find if I can make it through to 1pm, the hunger goes away. My only concern is elevated blood sugar in the AM, but I understand that if my A1C…
  • I just purchased Jason Fung's book, the Obesity Code, and it is VERY interesting. He spent a lot of time on nutrition, not very much on IF, but I still learned a lot. After dithering around for a few weeks, today is my first IF day. I am starting with 16:8. I am a little worried about the evening, since that is the…
  • Glad to find this group. I am 57 and prediabetic. I have been following the "Always Hungry" low carb plan. During Phase 1 you are allowed beans and dairy, which make it palatable for me. I am planning to start IF 16:8, after watching http://www.dietdoctor.com/the-perfect-treatment-for-diabetes-and-weight-loss. I found his…
  • I just purchased "Always Hungry". I have read that it is poorly organized, but contains good information. My exercise program is solid, but I have tried numerous eating plans and none have worked very well. Hope springs eternal!
  • Don't worry about TMI--mine is so bad, my 7 year old calls it Medi-Gas. Bloating is not too much of a problem but occasionally I have an upset stomach.
  • Okay all, I am in week 6 and have lost almost 14 pounds. It took a while for it to get started, but I seem to be on a roll. My big struggle is weekends! I have a hard time turning down a glass of wine. I am also realizing how much I eat out--at least 5-6 times a week! And most of it is business related, so I cant whip out…
  • Congratulations!! I am a new MFer (one month) and it has been challenging WITH a coach. So I have nothing but admiration for you for accomplishing your loss all by yourself. There are some pretty good coaches on this board, so look around. I hope that you find the one who will help you transition successfully. P.
  • would love to hear more about your workout. I am thinking about adding weight training back into my rotation..
  • It was four pounds. I usually weigh once a week on Mondays, but I was concerned so I stepped on my digital scale this morning. And its not TOM---I am past that stage of life.
  • Thanks for your suggestions. I woke up today and gained 4 lbs. Something is just wrong.
  • Thanks. I am on a stall now too! In week 2, of all things. I will check out my carbs and see if I can figure it out. I don't have the caramel bars, but I love those peanut butter bars!!
  • I am in my first week and work is a challenge. We do a lot of entertaining, so there is ALWAYS food around. Thank goodness I don't have a sweet tooth so the cookies and brownies don't bother me. But when real food is around---chicken, rice, bread, shrimp, vegetables, it is so had to eat my little bag of chili or crab soup.…
  • Hello All: I started yesterday, and it actually was not so bad. I am looking for friends so that I can give and get support. I am diabetic with one kidney and I would be much better 40 lbs lighter. Just taking it one day at a time. Can someone tell me what to do with the oatmeal?? p0nderful
  • Hello All! At the suggestion of my endocrinologist, I am starting MF on Monday. Of course I am hearing a lot of negativity, but I think everyone has to find their own way to weight loss. I weigh 210 and have been at this weight for years, no matter what I try. I have come to the conclusion that I am going to have to learn…
  • Where is everybody at?? Day 2 was much better than day 1. Wasn't hungry, but totally missed my friday night wine. Let us know how you are doing!
  • Im in. I am 55 years old and trying to fight off diabetes and lose about 20 pounds. I have been eating low carb/mediterranean (sort of) and need a group for accountability. I am on day 1 (again) because I slipped and ate hummus yesterday. Forgot about the beans. Oh well.
  • Hi Everyone: I''m Michele. I read It Starts with Food and was very inspired. I am 55 years old, working on stabilizing and lowering my blood sugar. I would also like to lose the first 20lbs. No matter what I do, (vegan, mediterranean, low carb) the weight doesnt budge. I think I don't stick to it long enough, so my goal is…
  • That is wonderful! You are inspiring to all of us who are working to ditch the meds!
  • I'm with you. Its the only eating plan that keeps my blood sugar in check. Right now I am struggling with whether or not to give up beans in addition to rice, pasta, potatoes and processed food. As for the weight loss, it is still slow going.
  • Kettle cooked potato chips Hummus and carrots Cashews Lorna Doone's Stella D'Oro Breakfast treats
  • Jersey Girl!
  • Hello All: I know, I'm a little late to the party. Anyway, i am 54 and prediabetic and have been eating vegan for about a month.. My blood sugar is still erratic. I am also really tired of cooking twice--for me and the rest of my family. Any suggestions would be welcome.
