Good call. I think letting it rest for a good while is a good idea. You've got the fit of your clothes and your overall feeling of "healthy" to be your guide.

I think the time pressure in this video and the other one (with Dawn Porter) are important to note- I don't condone being tiny or anything, but we need to remember there is a healthy way to loose weight, and some folks can find themselves quiet small and still functional, if they take their time and let their body adjust.
-
What some of the folks have already said- it's best to avoid cotton and other fabrics that "drink" sweat. If you can get something synthetic and wicking you will be warmer in the the long run because you will stay dry longer. Trust me. It is def. worth it. In the meantime, go with what you have, though. I totally agree the…

Nutritional science is complicated. And it's true you will be overall healthier if you eat more fruits and veggies, but I think it is important to know what findings are out there. I think that if they are seeing that alcohol and obesity are more significant risk factors and fruits and veg aren't significant protective…

Should one work extra hours to buy a new pair of shoes, car or gaming system? Not all the time, but if you need a new Kia, overtime is one way to get there. ProT has a point in that food should be conceptualized as a normal part of life, as fuel and not as a reward- but on occassion this is fine, and exercise is better…

Basically, what everyone else says. There is no short cut for this nutrition stuff, you have to know what is going in your body (and coming out in form of exercise). Logging is the easiest way to figure if you are eating too much bread or not. Sorry. Wish it were easier.

pride is better than pizza- everytime. Hands down. Stick with the sammich.

I hear you- eating healthy can appear to be an expensive endeavor. Here is what I do: I eat oat meal every morning. A 2.00 tub lasts me at least a month. For lunch I eat a Peanut butter sandwich and an apple or a can of tuna (.50), some crackers and an apple. If I find yogurt on sale (sometimes expiring soon so it's on…

I'm not trying to be a pain, but what is food therapy??

Here's my eclectic contribution. Depends on what you like, but Eminem's whole new album is really motivating to me, and of course, his "Loose Yourself" is a classic running song. For something more mellow I really like Alexi Murdock, or Tom Petty (running down a dream and American Girl are pretty motivating). Little is…

I would say relax a little. Give your self some credit for what you have done, and try not to stress about it. I eat dinner after 5 or 6 every night and I've hit my goal and readjusted a few times now. Also- find some exercise to do that you love. There is something out there. For me it's running. I can't do it right now…

I like using the ipad for that function, but the screen on my ipod/iphone is really small. Only draw back is of course, you can't read in the tub or in other places that you wuold be less concerned of posing a hazard to your book. HTH

Hey Jodi. Welcome. I've never taken tablets, and in general they make me nervous too- if you are nervous, why are you taking them? This site has plenty of advice and structure to help you lose the weight without using tablets....what is persuading you to take them?

hmmm...worked out to be more (meaning faster = more calories) for me. Maybe this is a silly question, but did you make a typo when entering the time?

I had one after I fractured my femur a few years ago. It never burst, I never had it drained, I just tried to work through it and eventually it got better on its own- that being said, I was obviously dealing with a few bigger fish at the time. good luck.

Can I just say I love this thread, with only a few minor hiccups we've all being humorous and kind to one another. I feel all warm and fuzzy. I was seriously worried about the trolls there for a minute. I'm so relieved!

Nelski beat me to it- weigh the bread before and after the crust, subtract a percentage of calories. Perhaps there is a different amount of calories in the crust (particulary if the pan was "greased", "buttered" or "floured") but I figure it will be close to the same.

What to Eat by Marion Nestle is a fabulous book written by a nutritionist that discusses not only how to eat to lose weight, but also the environmental effect food and the food industry has, the safety of a variety of foods, and the reality of many health claims by foods. She comes highly recommended by Mark Bittman…

Super Job!!! I can definitely see the difference in your face. Congrats!

Right, what lilmissy said. I'm guessing your 1,390 is really your calorie goal not your BMR. My BMR is 1,336, but my cals from daily activity is higher (in the 1,700s) because I don't just lie in bed all day. your BMR barely keeps you alive, so you need more than that for even sedentary activites. At my desk job I've…

Just a heads up- around the time I lost 35 pounds my whole cycle went Bananas and I had to switch birth control, because my hormones had changed with my body fat and I now needed a different balance. Weight is tied in with how your cycle and your pill works, so if it's giving you trouble, there is a scientific explanation…

Food is a toughie. We need it to live after all. And I think no matter what we will always desire tasty snacks. The only thing I can say is to re-train yourself. Eat mindfully, meaning that you think about what is in the food you eat, think about how it tastes. Think about to make the experience last. I know that sometimes…

Yeah. I've been on the other side of that. I'm in graduate school and sometimes I'm just not happy with the way life is right now. It's the best situation, but sometimes it still just sucks. I'm sure he feels much the same. Often I would be grumpy and short, but eventually I would learn to just say "I hate this situation"…

I could definitely live the rest of my life an never eat another hot dog.... or raw turnip for that matter, or banana flavored runt- or any of the foods I happen to just not like. I don't to eat meat, but I think that if you do, you might as wells eat what you like in moderation. When I did eat meat I'd eat any part of the…

I'm with P Jilly- I do oatmeal in the mornings (with some cinnamon and vanilla-it's out of this world) but at night or sometimes as a snack I eat Kashi Heart to Heart Warm Cinnamon or Honey Toasted Oat. They are relatively low sugar, decent bit of fiber and pretty darn tasty. If I've run that day I may splurge on some…

Lioness, We don't know each other well, but I have read many of your posts on these forums. I am glad you have some answers, and I admire your "no quitting" spirit. While I know that your way is not everyone's way, I respect that you do your research and let your brain make your choices for you. I trust that you will do…

I have found that fiber fills me up. Try to shoot for things like raw veggies, Lots of green leafy ones that haven't been boiled to mush, and then whole grains and the like (oatmeals, high fiber cereal). I am generally a very hungry lady but put enough veggies in front of my and I can't even finish them. Hope that helps.

I have watched you transform over the past year I've been on this site and it has been awesome!! My favorite part, though, is that huge smile on your face! You go girl!

If you've been vegetarian for 5 years, I'm sure I can't tell you anything new- but I take in a lot of veggie burgers and tofu, as well as other soy products that boost my protein. Hope that helps! I also love beans. They help with the protein.
