  • read/watch/surf the web for info about why you are doing this detox. A snip of Food Inc. or some of my "What to Eat" book about clean eating always helps me reconsider my "no-no"s.
  • To be honest, I think my pills (I've taken both variations of Yaz/Yazmin and Orthocept) caused me to gain weight, but I don't think that it has slowed down my weight loss.
  • I'm hoping by the spelling that she's saying that she'd be made of wine?
  • garden burgers tofu blueberries organic plain yogurt hummus
  • well... I don't know but I have read several places that Chocolate Milk is excellent for after a workout, I read this in Both Runner's World and Women's Health- I think it is a lot of calories, but if you watch the serving size and plan for it you are probably in the clear.
  • I really like Stonyfield organic yogurt. It has a lot of sugar- but I just get the plain and add blueberries or strawberries/kiwis/cherries/etc for fewer calories and sugar than most pre-mixed.
  • I'm not advocating starvation- but I just wanted to throw out the reminder that I don't know where everyone lives, but the time stamps on these things are 3 hours behind where I am now- some people would consider a meal at this time an early dinner. But what everyone else has said is right, don't beat yourself up. Eat if…

  • One major factor is how big you are- it takes more energy to move 500 lbs than it does to move 150. So some people who are burning a ton are probably bigger- but if you have weight to lose and you are really hitting that eliptical and doing so for 20 minutes to a half an hour it makes me think something is off....
  • sorry you feel terrible (I must be an oatmeal, yogurt, veggie burger, tofu, kashi monster.)
  • I'm not an expert- but here's what I wonder- If I have 100 calories left at 11:59 p.m. and I don't go to bed should I eat them at 1:00am and count them for that same day? I mean our bodies don't reset- They don't know that it's midnight. So I don't see why it wouldn't work from one day to the next? Maybe it's sleep that…
  • Heck- I usually eat the whole package of the type I buy for 120 cals- but I'm a veggiehead- I need my soy protein.
  • Well- 2oz of what is the key. I can give estimates if you know which food you are asking about...
  • I've got one- a bunch of pale green shooting stars on my left shoulder blade. I got it when I was 18. I still like it very well- but I don't see it very often, it's on my back! I have always threatened to get a flower that my husband used to draw for me, but I've not done it just yet. I've also considered a phoenix but I…

  • If you are meeting your calorie goals- meaning you eat 1200 or so you are safe. If you see yourself correctly in the mirror you are safe- if you have a highly distorted body image and are underweight and only eat one meal a day, I would say that you have something to be worried about. Restrictive eating in this context…
  • Umm... here's a few things I snack on- Bananas and Peanut butter (about 1/2 tablespoon of the natural kind- PB has fat, but also protein and I'm a big PB fan) Air Popped pop corn with no oil (amazingly low in calories and very filling) I just add Popcorn salt but you could add other spices/grated parm cheese etc. organic…
  • One thing no one has mentioned is how many calories you are eating- that can make a difference. Be sure to go above 1200 and don't dip too low below what MFP has suggested you hit. There are some great posts about exercise calories and why you need to eat them- Everyone's given great advice, but I wanted to throw that out…
  • Hey Guys! Graduate here- and I just wanted to say that I KNOW each and everyone of you will kick butt!! I repeated one week and during another week repeated a day before I moved on. I went from nothing (not even particularly active- a real couch tater) to a runner. I had broken my leg in 04 and had 3 surgeries to fix it…
  • I just edited my old post- if doesn't change over let me know and I'll post better directions. Thanks! (and sorry about the confusion.)
  • Hi There. I echo what everyone else said- plus- if you go to Message Boards and click "General Weight Loss Help" there are several posts with a pushpin beside them that are great for folks just starting out or have some info that members have found to be essential or just really very helpful. Good luck! (Edited for clarity)
  • I also eat oatmeal (plain quick oats type) and add 1/4 tsp. of vanilla and somewhere between 1/2 and 1 whole tsp of brown sugar. This may sound bad but it's about 165 calories and has less sugar than my honey nut cheerios and most lightly sweet cereals. It's pretty tasty! I also sometimes eat some plain yogurt and add some…
  • I was too for a while and then I got much closer to my goal and it's easier to relax a bit. I wouldn't say that you would necessarily wind up with an eating disorder- as long as you exercise normally each day. If you are really overdoing it that would look more like an eating disorder. But the truth is that you don't have…
  • does it have the same texture as pasta?
  • I had never eaten yogurt before- I have not been able to eat it, it grossed me out, but I love stonyfield organics! I eat it everyday. I started out with strawberry- which has a lot of sugar, but now I eat the plain and add my own fruit- blueberry, kiwi, nectarine, cherries, etc. It's delicious, fewer calories and sugar.…

  • probably like 30 in the head, cause one whole cookie is 90. :noway:
  • I totally agree with Leannaellis- I set up goals like buying a new pair of workout shorts, or a magazine subscription, or even a new song for the i-pod exercise playlist, each of these was really rewarding. I even have a trip planned for my ultimate goal. Those mini-goals and non-food rewards are super helpful!
  • a heartfelt you're welcome!
  • Same here! Just found them again and I'm glad to be reading again. But i understand if it's a pain in the tush for you.
  • The veggie delite is all real vegetables, but most people like some sort of meat on their sandwhich....
  • I've always heard that a cup of peppermint tea is supposed to help. Usually does help me out.
  • Running gets easier! Eventually, those two miles will breeze by and you will barely be out of breath. And hey, I'm getting in shape for lots of reasons, one being to rub it in some girls face that I had an argument with- and to make sure no one EVER gets me confused with her again. What ever the reason, being healthy is a…
