I go back and forth. I would suggest that maybe you drink fewer coke zeros- 2 each day isn't really moderation in some people's opinions. If you are looking for a reason to quit, consider the money. Start saving the cash you would spend on that for something you want more. Caffeine is bad for me, even though I consume it…

I, too, use a brita filter. When I lived with my parents we had a well and I drank tap, but now "city" water it tastes funky to me. The brita helps though.

I would suggest maybe he change his "activity level" or whatever it's called. If he's on sedentary, maybe bump it up to light active- and see how many calories that gives him....

wow, you look fab- and much younger and healthier. It's amazing.

I would say that eating small meals throughout the day might help. Add lots of fiber- leafy greans and the like. There are days I'm hungry all darn day, but if I eat mostly lettuce, carrots or raw broccoli and apples I can't do too much dammage. This isn't the healthiest suggestion, but sometimes a cup of tea or some…

When I have a boat ton of calories to eat I do a few different things- I sometimes splurge on something I wouldn't normally eat- a bag of M & Ms, some good quality ice cream or rice pudding. Peanut Butter- this is a pretty good way to take out 200 calories at a time, and it's healthy so you don't have to feel too bad about…

Good Luck! I think you'll make it. I remember when I got to like 25 minutes I was so close to 3.1 miles that I tried to just push for it on my training run. I think I made it, but I don't remember now! Also- I got to where I just started looking up the times and taking a timer/watch out with me and listening to my own…

I think some people will need to continue to log and others will have figured out how to eat healthy and have a rough estimate of their calories and won't need to log. It sounds like you are focused on your calorie goals but hate logging. If you look at a cupcake and know in your head its 300 calories you don't have is it…

Well...if you eat 1600 and burn 500 I'd say you could skip it or just add a small snack of 50 so calories- maybe an apple or a 1/2 tblspn of PB- because you want to net around 1200. If you burn 900, I would say it's more important to eat some back because that puts you at 700 for the day and that could be too little.…

I got a pair of pretty expensive Sennheiser CX680I CX-680I Adidas Sports In-Ear Headphones from the apple store- they are "sweatproof" and are ear bud style with little rubber dodads that smush in the stiffer part of your ear to keep them in. They have a remote and mic. I think I paid maybe $60 for them. They stay in…

There are a number of factors that we just can't be sure of...hormonally driven water weight increases. If you've chosen the right activty level/lifestyle setting in MFP to come up with the correct number of goal calories a day. How many net calories you consume (and is it too few or too many)? How you measure your…

For most average sized people, 1200 is a minimum calorie intake for a day- Net minimum meaning that if you eat 1200 and then burn 1200 through exercise, you are at 0 (and therefore might want to eat more food). You goal according to MFP depends on your activity setting and your goal loss for each week- not everyone here is…

If you are trying to build a distance goal, shoot for length of time. So if you want to use C25k to do that or just keep going with your jog/shuffle either is fine. Most of the time people work on speed after they hit the distance/endurance goal. Also- often running experts say people have a tendency to start out too fast…

Welcome, we're glad to have you join us!

Salad Bars would be tough- but at home you can use a food scale and I usually trust the "raw" fruit/veg listings without asterics as these were the ones loaded by the site originally.

I know sugar is bad for you, but I did want to say that natural sugars (in whole fruits that come with fiber and in foods like milk or even some vegetables) have a very different impact than added sugars. Sometimes I even go over on my sugar intake, but I don't worry so much if it's because I had an apple, or if it was…

Yum O! (couldn't resist tee hee)

The recipe function usually has most my foods, but you may need to add data from individual ingredients as though you were adding a new food to MFP then use those "new" foods in the recipe- sounds annoying tho. Have you tried Spark Recipes calculator?

Glad to have you! Watch out, though. The site is free and totally addicting. See I've been around since sometime in '09.

Well bless your heart! This post made my whole day. :flowerforyou:

I say do it. You can always train and then consider competing. (I would bet you sign up though, because you will be in awesome shape and will have worked so hard!) I'm so jealous. I would love to do a tri but I cannot swim. do it for me !

They have 2 very different goals. One is to make you into a runner, the other is for general fitness and strength. What are your goals? Do you want to run a 5k? Is running something you are interested it? I've only done c25K but I loved it...if that helps.

great job- You look fabulous!!! p.s. if you change the IMG to lower case, they will appear in the thread.

So...hate to be the one to bring this up- but if you are female there could be a monthly/water weight etc. issue here. I sometimes hold on to an extra 3lbs for more than a week or two depending on where I am in the cycle.

You will be more fit if you mix up your exercises. I've never done 30DS so it may fit the bill, but I know a mix of cardio and strength training is the best route. Good Luck and I hope your friend comes home safe. HTH

mho: both. and. He is to be commended for his efforts. I think school lunches should offer better choices (or make more appetizing vegetables etc.). He is annoying to me (or at least his celebrity personality is.) Parents should teach their kids about nutrition, and in the schools I grew up in it was hard to find good…

Find a sauce/ spice you like and cook it in that. I often soak it in low sodium soy sauce and bake it on maybe 400 or 450 for 30-45 minutes. I also do the same but use thai spice. I have cooked it in a sauce pan with pre-prepared curry mixes and buffalo wing sauce (this didn't turn out as well)... That's my advice for…

I lose my weight slowly because a 1200 calorie diet is not cutting it for me. I was at 1300 and pretty happy- recently upped that to 1380 to lose .5 lbs a week (closer to maintenance and actually, I think it helped, not hurt with the weight I had left to lose.)... I do exercise and I eat those calories back so there isn't…

What jimbo said. I got mine on Amazon for about the same cost. I would marry it if it were legal.

Well, some pasta expands as it cooks as well, but there is a substantial difference in fluid ounces (measured by cups etc.) and weight ounces. So...yeah, you'd need to weigh it essentially. Maybe 2 ounces comes out to 1/4 cup, I'm not sure.
