  • Scour Craigslist. Look at smaller locally owned gyms that may be getting rid of equipment, that's how my friend got hers for 1/3 the price. Also, not sure where you're at but military families are always looking to offload stuff prior to moving and I always see ellipticals, treadmills, and spin bikes on community FB pages.
  • Not sure where you all are from but have you discovered Tajin yet? It's a chili/lime/salt mix that you sprinkle on fruit. I know some people who put it on a lot more but I save it for my mangos, pineapple, green apples, and watermelon. http://www.amazon.com/Tajin-Fruit-Snack-Seasoning-5-0/dp/B0000GL6RK
  • I'm going to tell you about my first time losing a grip of weight... I don't know about your body stats but I was 20, 5'2", 160+lbs and in the military. I was actually weighed at work & was massively over my max allowable body weight (140lbs) for my height. I was immediately put on a pre cursor to what is unofficially…
  • will definitely have to try!
  • saved so I can read all links at home
  • BMR = as I understand it is the amount of cal your body expends in a day even if you're doing nothing TDEE = BMR + the energy you expend. So my BMR - 1400 cal but my TDEE = 1600 cal there are tons of calculators out there but I really like this one: http://iifym.com/iifym-calculator/ keep in mind that these are all based…
  • Breakfast - Coffee + 1/2cup whole milk & 1Tbsp brown sugar Snack - Beef jerky Lunch - Amy's bean & cheese burrito Snack - 2 x mini Hershey bars w/ a little less than 1 Tbsp natural PB (don't judge me, it's SOOOOOOOOOO delicious!) I'm 5'2" so I lament with you... us shorty doo wops get the shafted when it comes to weight…
  • O Brother Where Art Thou, Heathers, Pulp Fiction, and Three Amigos are considered a bad movies!?!?!?!?!??!?! Do I need to look up the definition of "Bad"? Meteor Man Undercover Brother Leprechaun (how have we gone 9 pages w/o Leprechaun people!!!) Crybaby (cheesy Depp-y cringe-yness)
  • I'm pretty sure my mom thought it was a kid's movie (Live action talking duck! Let's rent it for the kids and let them watch it with no adult supervision!) and I didn't get it either until I got older and realize that it was an adult comic. The whole movie made so much more sense after that.
  • The Last Dragon Barry Gordie + Vanity + Karate = BEST BAD MOVIE EVER!!! Also: Howard the Duck (didn't realize it was considered horrible until I was about 24) Allan Quartermain and the Lost City of Gold (now on Netflix!) Overboard Demolition Man (idk if this meets the criteria but I'm the only person I know that likes it)…
  • Bumped for later!
  • Ditto what ArtGeek22 said, you're really too young for this site kiddo. 1. Focus on being healthy, not a number on a scale. 2. Let puberty hit you with all its awesomeness. 3. If Mom isn't supportive talk to Dad or G-ma about helping you pack some food to take to Mom's house. 4. If you don't like water flavor it w/ fruits.…
  • *bump* So I can come back and read everything when I have time.
  • This made me throw up a little bit. And I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Greek Yogurt. I agree with the members saying to just move on & eat something different but I understand that sometimes the gains just out weigh the Cons. An ex of mine HATED canned tuna fish but it was the best/easiest way for him to meet his protein goals…
  • Sticking my foot in my mouth in the most public way possible. It's embarassment that draws people to me, I swear.
  • I love the elliptical! I like to speed up, slow down, go backwards, take 1 foot off a pedal & use my arms to pump and try to keep the RPM constant, "run" w/ no hands. All kinds of things. I feel uncoordinated and graceless on the treadmill and can't really walk straight so I always feel like I'm about to fall off. For me,…
  • Thanks for everyone's response! I was VERY close to trying SL5x5 and would love to hear how it works for you brisingr86! I have the feeling I will be googling & youtubing a lot in the next few weeks. I'm always worried about my squat form, I freak if I think my knees are anywhere near going past my toes. That was probably…
  • Oh man! I got my Nutribullet for my B-day last year and I think it's my favorite b-day gift ever! (Thanks dad!) I got this one from the Dr Oz 3-day cleanse (ugh, don't ask) but I still drink it b/c it was pretty good... 1 cup water 1Tbsp ground flax seed 1 cup raspberries 1 banana 1 cup spinach 1 Tbsp almond butter 2 tsp…
  • I'm 5'2", 170 and for me 1hr of Zumba (alternating beats + warm up + cool down) usually equates to 450 - 520 calories according to my BodyMedia armband. I've stopped using it lately but still use the number since I know it won't vary much.
  • You had me at "shrimp"
  • I'm definitely in! I've been trying so hard all month and have managed to lose nothing! I am aiming for closer to 40lbs by the end of the year but 20lbs by July would be exquisite!
  • It's just a meal replacement shake. Kinda like SlimFast. Not gonna lie, I drink them sometimes for lunch or as a snack after the gym. they're not bad. ~130cal if you make it with milk & dependant on flavor. However, I definitely suggest calorie counting & eating whole foods. Like I said, I would usually use this as a quick…
  • Sadly, the only thing that worked (some) for me was time...and a little tanning. although a friend had more permanent results with a tummy tuck (not feasable on my budget) and supposedly Kim Kardashian had them lasered away (again, not on my budget) They aren't the cutest and the first time back in a 2 piece for me was a…
  • riding the bump train...
  • Yup, I am stalking the crap out of craigslist.
  • I so badly want my own elliptical. I could stay on it all day and watch TV! I am having a hard time finding one for under $350 though. Sadness.
  • In the past I lost ~20lbs and did it primarily using the elliptical. Yes, it can be boring, sure I guess it can "do the work for you" but so can the treadmill (to an extent, unless you add an incline). When I used it I would crank that sucker up to level 15, pump my arms, and aim for keeping my speed at 6rpm. I would do…
  • I feel you FF121! I look at my HS pics (5'2" 120lbs) and remember thinking that I was overwieght. Then GAINING 25lbs and actually being overweight. Then getting pregnant and becoming outright fat (I used the "eating for 2 excuse", my bad). The sound byte that recurs in my head is from Fried Green Tomatoes when Kathy Bates…
