  • I've discovered that binging is binging. The tendency is inside you to over indulge in whatever. I am battling the same problem at the moment. I had stopped drinking completely when I was losing weight. I've started again now that I'm trying to maintain weight loss and build strength. Sorry I have no answers, just…
  • If you want to get that specific about it, get a heart rate monitor and wear it in the field. That should give you a good count. But, I like the suggestion about moving up your activity level, maybe setting your diary to "active" on field days.
  • I bought this one on Amazon: "EatSmart Precision Digital Bathroom Scale w/ Extra Large Backlit 3.5" Display and "Step-On" Technology" http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001KXZ808/ Search "eatsmart" and it's the first product on Amazon (or copy/paste link). I've had it for a year, works flawlessly and is accurate according…
  • You've been a member since 2012 and have lost 1 pound. Maybe you've just reset you ticker, none of my business. But accurate, not perfect, measurement is important IMO.
  • I'm with the original poster about grams, grams, grams! Of course, I'll also use ounces; ounces of whiskey, ounces of vodka, etc. I like that I can enter my own foods but I also wish people would stop entering the same basic items in 20 different ways. For example, there are multiple, multiple entries for carrots. There's…
  • "Starving with headaches," if I read that right, sounds to me like withdrawal symptoms. Is this a new diet for you? Did you cold turkey cut off caffiene, sugar, or fat? Could also be a medical issue. Maybe I'm reading your post wrong.
  • If you're prone to binges I'd say stick to your guns. No, the extra calories on one day won't ruin your diet. But if you're trying to change behaviors, not just count calories the rest of your life, you have to work on it all the time. Just my opinion.
  • Lots of water, pre-planning the eitire day, eating lots of small meals, and saving up a lot of calories for the evening, when I enjoy using those calories the most.
  • Since I always have a rest day after my long run, I'll save about 1/3 of my earned calories for the next day. I haven't had any trouble going that route, either being hungry, or with weight loss or running results.
  • Every calorie counts. That said, I don't track lettuce any more. I used to. Plus, I don't eat a lot of lettuce so it's 20-30 calories a week, maybe.
  • I lost half my weight before even learing what those terms meant. MFP's calculation worked wonders.
  • Trust in the MFP calculation. I'm down 65ish strictly following MFP, including eating back most if not all of my exercise calories. THEN, if it's not working after a few months, you can monkey with it.
  • Is 1200 what MFP is giving you? Are you "eating back" exercise calories?
  • Why is eating at 8pm really bad, again? I sometimes eat 1/2 of my claories after 5pm. I don't fully trust activity trackers becuse I haven't found one that accounts for TDEE. That is, while you're taking steps (walking?) you're burning some additional calories, but some of those calories you would have burned just laying…
  • Well, depends on how much you weigh and how fast you want to/are losing weight. Did you plug your numbers into MFP's calculator? That's what I did and I lost weight and never felt hungry. I see waaay too many people defend this 1200-calorie number. It's entirely arbitrary. You should absolutely be eating enough every day…
  • Reducing calories leads to weight loss. If you do that by only eating 1200 calories of pure white sugar every day or only drinking 25 glasses of vinegar, you'll lose weight but it would still be gross. I should add that the Mayo Clinic says "no" there's no actual evidence that vinegar itself contributes to weight loss.…
  • I think this might be spam. First post from a new user plugging a specific product. Forgive me if I'm wrong.
  • About half of my calories are between 5 pm and 8 pm. I don't want to "run out" so I stay light during the day and let dinner turn into evening snacks. I've done this most of the time I've been on MFP and haven't had any negative consequences I can tell.
  • I use one and love it! The oxo we got as a gift was expensive but they can be had for $20ish. Great investment.
  • What do you LOVE doing? For me, it's running and I'm sure even that will ebb and flow. But now, at least, I look forward to it every day I go.

  • You can subtract your TDEE if you're worried about accuracy. MFP calculations do not subtract TDEE from what I've seen. That is, you can't burn a calorie twice. Mine is about 75 calories an hour I deduct from MFP calculations. Also, running burns roughly 100 calories per mile. I can run about 6 miles an hour for an hour…
  • Weigh what goes in, weigh what is left over. Of course, this will be somewhat off if you cook in the marinade since water will evaporate.
  • Officially, yes, eat them. The weight loss goal does not account for exercise calories. If you're not eating back exercise calories you could end up way below your daily calorie requirement. Also, search "exercise calories" in this forum and stand back, this is widely discussed and debated. Personally, I always eat back at…
  • When I was on vacation, I set my calories to "maintain current weight" and made sure to get in a workout every day. That gave me 400 to 700 more calories every day without "going over." On a restricted-calorie plan, 400 calories felt like an indulgence. Each new event is a little challenge. Halloween candy, birthday meals,…
  • Thanks for all the great responses! I overthink this stuff sometimes and need to refocus.
  • I'm firmly in the runkeeper camp, having tried runtastic for a few days once it was linked up with MFP. I'm sure MFP linked the apps that were willing to pay, and of course I don't blame them. But, Runkeeper offers the ability to other app makers to link Runkeeper, MFP just won't/hasn't done so. I hope they do! Ultimately,…
  • Bingo. It's none of my business really, but when someone asks for budget food advice ...
  • Sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, less-processed soy, beans (garbanzo, pinto, black, etc, etc), greek yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs (vegetarian, not vegan, so dairy is okay?). And stay out of Whole Foods! Do you have a trader joe's around you?
  • I've been feeling the same way, kinda lonley, as friends I started with drop off. Add me if you like.
