  • Just start. Find a class and go to it.
  • I have been to yoga classes where people cry. It doesn't bother me, I just hope that whomever is crying is able to find peace with whatever is bothering them. If someone feels their practice is ruined by you then that is their own problem and I wouldn't worry about it. I hope that you are able to find the peace you are…
  • After a five month hiatus I am lifting again. Currently I am following Starting Strength. I am 5'2" about 120 and eating about 1554 calories a day (155 carbs, 52 fat, 116 protein). I used iifym.com to determine the numbers. My number one goal right now is to shed body fat that I slowly gained since last summer. I would…
  • *waves* I do starting strength and am considering moving on to an intermediate program sometime in the next few months, feel free to add me.
  • This is a one time occurrence, correct? Correlation =/= Causation. I vote that you are coming down with something and hope you feel better soon. I would not equate not feeling well today with your workout unless it continues to happen each time you exercise.
  • BodyVive is the yoga/tai chi/pilates class, right? I've done it a few times - I would say it is definitely under 300 cals, probably closer to 200. CXWorx is only 30 minutes of core work, I would guess it is 150-200 cals. My HRM has read under 200 for CX Worx but I believe HRM data is not accurate for that type of workout.
  • Started: 40% of body weight Now: 105% of body weight Goal: 150% of body weight I began with starting strength last spring with just the bar. I worked up to where I am now last fall but I took a three month break and had to deload considerably when I started again in January.
  • Considering the constraints of the equipment you have then I agree with these two ladies. Strong Lifts is a great program but it isn't the only way to do things.
  • The rest of those vitamins should be in a multi. If you want to ensure you are getting the same amount then just compare the two and supplement the multivitamin. For example, if you find the One Source supplement has more biotin and vitamin E you can get a separate biotin supplement and a separate vitamin E supplement.…
  • I've found that I am fine increasing squats and deadlifts with 10 lb plates but that would be impossible for me with the upper body lifts (bench press and overhead press). Is there any way you could attach 5 or 2.5 lbs on each side of the bar?
  • This? http://torquefitness.com/residential/squat-harness.html That's not quite the same thing as a barbell squat. Interesting piece of equipment, I hope you can find a way to make it work.
  • I'm assuming the prenatal multivitamin also has vitamins A and E? With supplements more does not always mean better. Vitamins A and E have toxicity levels because they are stored in your body. They are not water soluble and thus not excreted in your urine when you ingest too much. Perhaps you should take one brand of multi…
  • What is in this: One Source - Hair, Skin, & Nails Multi Vitamin for Women, 2 caplets, is it just biotin?
  • Mine is simple so it is memorized. I see people carrying notebooks, papers with pen, and cellphones all the time. Do whatever works for you.
  • My youngest was extremely small for his age, below 5th percentile for height and weight. I kept being told by the doctor that he was just small and that should be expected because my husband and I are not tall. Just to be sure he ordered a blood test to check his thyroid and growth hormone level, both tests were normal. By…
  • This, exactly. *waves* Hi Graelwyn!
  • I'm sorry this post has caused you so much angst. I don't think that was anyone's intention. Just because you don't agree with advice you are given it does not mean people are being rude. I too was a really good kid, got great grades and never got into trouble. My home-life was out of control, abusive, and controlling to…
  • You did get responses from others who survived and the consensus was that you are now an adult and you should find a means to move out if you want to get away from your parents. Not one person who lived in an abusive home said you should stay. If it were bad enough you'd find a way to get out, perhaps you are being a bit…
  • You'll never make everyone at the gym happy, it is evident in all the posts here that complain about others at the gym. :flowerforyou:
  • If you are getting gloves to protect your hands from the un-wiped weights at the gym I'm not sure how that is going to help. I would think the fabric of the gloves would hold onto bacteria whereas you could easily wash your hands after lifting. Not to mention, they are fingerless. If you are worried about it be sure to…
  • Did you check the polar website to see if you could get a replacement sensor?
  • The only things I see people wipe down at the gym are cardio equipment, mats, and sometimes benches/seats. I have never seen anyone wipedown a barbell, kettlebell, or a dumbbell. My answer is no.
  • One of my children is at an increased risk for retinal detachment, since he is legally blind in one eye a retinal detachment in the other eye can be catastrophic. The only activities we have been told that he should not perform are activities that have an increased risk of having a blow to the head (martial arts, football,…
  • If I didn't take a rest day I wouldn't be able to progress in my workouts. I never understand how anyone can exercise 7 days of week for any length of time if they are working hard during their workouts.
  • Most likely water weight. Keep drinking water and carrying on like normal, it will go away in no time.
  • Maybe try: Zumba (or other cardio) 4-6x/week Strength training (30-60 min) 3-4x/week Ensure you let the muscles you train for strength rest for a day before training them again.
  • Why do you think you need 3+ hrs of exercise five days a week plus exercise on Sat and Sun? What are your goals? I think you could use your time more efficiently. This much exercise puts you at risk for overtraining, I don't see any days where you incorporate rest for muscle repair.
  • You did nothing wrong OP, people should be racking their weights. If this happened at my gym and the bar was racked on one of the higher slots I would not be able to unload because I am just not tall enough. While I can lift that weight I would have a difficult time lifting it over my head in front of me.
