I have IBS & Celiac.. I can't eat Fructose (most fruit), Raffinose (lots of vegies), Lactose, legumes,gluten, wheat, rye.. I had to go on a very strict diet which has helped, however, if your man isn't prepared to help himself (eliminating pizza etc) there is very little you can do.

I log EVERYTHING.. I set my activity to sedentary so when I'm continuously active for 20+ min be it cleaning, power walking through a busy shop or exercising, I log it. If I'm naughty with food it doesn't feel AS naughty when I see the cals I've earned through incidental exercise.

I'm only new so this may not be the best advice. I have an Isowhey protein shake minutes prior to my cardio & it keeps me going long after I finish. I don't know your circumstances however, if your really unfit & you push yourself too hard you will more than likely be sick - regardless of what if anything you've eaten.
