  • Hi all, my name is Dawn & I'm new here. I have been dancing since I was 3 and have been teaching ballet, jazz and tap for 22 years. I also have a B.A. in Wellness and am a certified fitness instructor. I have a desk job now, as teaching 30plus hours per week was starting to have serious effects on me physically. I still…

  • sent you an add - I've had the same experience. Or, they are logging but never interacting at all.
  • My daughter was vegetarian (and for awhile vegan) with me. She did protest a little in preschool when the other kids' chicken nuggets looked different than the ones I sent for her, but mostly she didn't care. When she started to care, I relaxed the diet but I don't cook meat. Don't know how, don't want to. I bought her…
  • Oh, I'm still in pain. I just do them anyways, lol. I know I'll be in pain if I exercise, but inactivity makes me hurt too. Hope the PT helps you.
  • Pilates mat classes have been good for me, but you have to be careful to find an instructor who is understanding and able to give you modifications for things that are painful for you. Also, a PT could give you at-home exercises that are safe for you. I solely work out at home right now, as we're trying to save money. The…
  • yeah, my Dr. wants yearly x-rays but I'm not doing it. It's hereditary, we know it's only going to get worse, I don't really want to get x-rays that often for something I already know, ya know?
  • I find my back is in a different place almost daily. Some days I feel pretty stable and others I feel like I'm falling over all day. Sometimes my pain is manageable, just in the background, and other days, pain is all I can think about. So, at least for me, fluctuations are normal, if that's what you mean. Do you get…
  • Hi Missklara. Thanks for sharing your students. One of my ballet students has the same condition, but no scoliosis as far as I can tell. It's nice that you have such a great attitude about it. this message board is ridiculously quiet, I wish it was more active.
  • hula hooping and fire spinning. I didn't start out with fire - I learned with some soft sock ones so I could nail myself in the head a lot. But now I play with fire and it is SO fun.
  • Hi there - here are some ideas off the top of my head: -teach them the choreography from Thriller (it's not too hard, I teach at a dance studio and we do this once a year. Most of the people who come to Thriller night are not dancers) -Relay race - I've done the suitcase game at a party before where you have 1 person & a…
  • Good luck, sounds like you have the right attitude! MFP has been a real education for me. I thought I was eating pretty well and found out by logging my food and exercise that many things I was eating are WAY higher in calories than I thought. I'm also keeping track of my sugar & sodium intake, which I never paid attention…
  • I can relate, my friends say that I don't need to lose weight and I have often found that my motivation and commitment is almost annoying to them. If I can't go out with them because I planned to go to a fitness class or the gym and won't budge, they give me crap. It is awesome (for yourself and your family) that you want…

  • I am only trying to lose 20 lbs, but I tried and failed for years until I joined MFP. Make sure you log everything you put in your mouth and try to get some exercise in daily. Feel free to add me as a friend on here, I'm happy to offer some encouragement. Good luck!
  • sent you a request - always happy to have a positive friend on here!
  • absolutely amazing! Thank you for sharing your story. Congratulations on taking your life back!!
  • Maybe take your measurements, then try MFP's calculations for a month, then try your SIL's calculations for a month? If one works better than another, you might have your answer. Some days I feel great and some days (on the same calorie #) I feel like I will die of starvation...okay, that's a little dramatic, but...I don't…
  • I have the same problem - mainly at work. When I'm at home, I keep myself busy and only eat when I'm actually hungry. But it sounds like you might actually, really be hungry. In that case, it wouldn't be mindless eating. Anyways, here's what I do to combat "mindless" eating -plan my snacks for the day & only bring that…
  • sent you a request. I'm on here every day & am happy to support.
  • Absolutely!!! Progress is awesome, every step of the way.
  • American Sign Language-was 1 semester away from a B.A. in interpreting before I had 3 wrist surgeries and changed majors
  • sent you a request. You sure have your hands full! Good luck on your journey!
  • I'll gladly help give you some tough love on here. I'm thinking UK to US text rates are probably ugly, lol.
  • sending a few people on here requests-I have the same problem. I'm on here every day but it's so quiet among my friends list!
  • Sent you a friend request. I've been vegetarian for a looong time, but on MFP for about 6 months.
  • These are my 2 favorite workouts that I took home from a boot camp I was in: Fifties: Choose 4 or 5 exercises. Do each one 20 times, then 15 times each, then 10, then 5. This usually takes me 15 minutes, so I'll repeat if I have 30 minutes, or I'll do 15 minutes of cardio and then do a set of fifties. Some exercises I…
  • Good luck! Using MFP has been a real education for me. So many foods have way more calories than I thought they did!
  • Yep, she's amazing! thanks for sharing :)
  • dang Becky, get it!! Looking good lady!
  • Had my daughter at 19 y.o. and am happy to report that she's a happy college student now. It's a long road, but one you can handle. Kudos to you for choosing a healthy path!!
