I can't do squats with the weight on the back of my shoulders either, but why not try doing Front squats or Zercher squats? (For a Zercher squat, you'll need to use a padded Barbell) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4ZqhPxsGU8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiAmqNV15xU

Yep,... exactly this ^^.
-
1. Staying slim - keep exercising or stay v. active 2. maintenance pitfall (for me) - would be not logging & weighing food 3. I actually still don't know "exactly" what my maintenance cals are (TDEE)....but eat around 2000 calories a day and exercise at least 5 days a week. And it seems to be working (2 months later).
-
Yes, this^^. The change is probably down to changing the foods you're eating. More Fibre in your diet will definitely help.

I'm 49 and i've started doing Stronglifts 5x5 three times a week http://stronglifts.com/5x5/ I also do a HIIT type workout after i lift and go running for 1/2 an hour 3 times a week. OP you look great in that photo! I'm sure you'll get there again,..Good Luck.

It's not a stitch, it's definitely much lower and feels exactly like period pain cramps and in the same area as period pain would normally occur. I'm going for my next run on Sunday, so will just take it a bit slower, check my breathing and see if that makes a difference. If it persists or gets worse, i'll go see my…
-
Yes, it could be i'm going too fast too soon. I'll take it slower and see if that helps. Thanks! :)

I've just started working on my breathing actually, i would say i'm pretty hydrated (i always carry a bottle of water with me), BM.... sometimes, sometimes not and no i don't drink Coffee at all. I've only been running for about 3 weeks and it's only happened twice. Just seems strange that it feels so much like period pain!
-
I did the MFP method for weightloss, but now do TDEE for maintenance.
-
The OP is talking about Gym Staff/Gym Advisors...not Personal Trainers (so the thread kind of went slightly off topic there.) On the previous page, the OP confirms the staff are Obese.
-
Yes, you need to be eating more than 1870 calories. As others have said, bump up your calories by 200-250+ and take it from there. I'm 2" shorter than you, miles older, do similar exercise and i maintain (128lbs) on around 2000 cals a day. So i reckon your TDEE is much more than 2000.
-
Exactly. I think some people are finding comments insulting, when they aren't meant to be.
-
We have many Gyms like that in London. Where are you from?!! Lol
-
Of course, successful coaches can look however they look. They've proved their worth. And most definitely, bad advice is bad advice....... no matter who gives it. But we're talking about first impressions of regular Gym advisors down the local Gym here. If they looked overweight or out of shape, i would be very dubious…

I stand by my "terrible metaphor". As i said, i wouldn't be filled with confidence on both examples i gave. When it comes to the Health & Fitness industry, most people go on first impressions AND a lot of it comes down to what someone looks like. If the people working in these industries are not seen to be taking the…

Yep, that happened to me a few years ago. I ended up looking really bony up top (almost waif-like), with thighs that were still bigger in comparison. Maybe start lifting weights and concentrate on building up your upper body. I now have quite broad shoulders, so my body looks a bit more balanced out.
-
Overweight Gym staff with "Health Maker" on their Shirts, trying to advise me how to get fit & healthy - wouldn't fill me with too much confidence. That's like going to a Dermatologist who's face is covered in Spots!
-
Ha,ha,....too funny!
-
This^^ is what i think too. When someone is described as slim, i picture a healthy looking slender person. When someone is described as Thin or Skinny, to me that means underweight or looking underweight. OP, you seem at a nice weight for your height, so i wouldn't worry about it too much!
-
I agree with this also. OP, if you know what your body fat percentage is, the online calculator will be more accurate. I would guess that your TDEE is much higher than you think.
-
That routine looks tough,...well done! Don't know if this is classed as HIIT, but i like doing this routine after my lifting. I do have to "modify" some of it though. ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Boe4TrKXi6I

Yes, this is correct^^. Don't obsess too much if you "go over" with your macro's, as it doesn't matter. It's the amount of calories you eat that matter. I have to also say that i should've said eating clean "constantly" would bore me to tears. ;) I do eat homecooked healthy meals, but i do eat Chocolate, Cake, Crisps &…
-
Why not just eat what you like? (Obviously within reason) I don't find it a problem eating around 2000 cals a day AT ALL! In fact, i wish i could eat more. Lol I do like my Carbs though and most of my Meals are based around Wholewheat Pasta, Wholemeal Bread, Rice and Potatoes. Plus i have the occasional piece of Cake or…
-
My bust, waist & hip measurements (on paper) would class me as Pear shaped, but i have wide shoulders - so i don't look Pear shaped. I agree with the others, start doing weight training.....in time, it could make a big difference to your shape.
-
@angelexperiment That was last week,.....yes it was delicious! If you've never had Indian Food before, i highly recommend you try it. :)
-
This happened to me when i first started running longish distances (a few weeks ago), but i youtubed it. It was suggested i change from landing on my Heels when running, to landing on the Balls or midway of the foot. Not had the problem since.
-
Yes, ....i agree with this^^. Or just start doing a full weightlifting program, such as "stronglifts 5x5" or "ice cream fitness". http://stronglifts.com/5x5/ https://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/jason-blaha-ice-cream-fitness-5x5-novice-workout

I don't think you need to lose any more weight, as you're pretty slim already, but just have a belly. I would start lifting weights and start eating more Protein (at your maintenance calories). This is the weight training program i do: http://stronglifts.com/5x5/ It will help you gain Muscle and lose fat.
-
Same here, i love Almonds! OP, to help you gain weight (i'm presuming from your profile info) try to eat a bag of Nuts a day.....as well as your other Meals. Very easy to do, while sitting and watching TV. ;)

Either Fruit (something like an apple & sml banana) or Bacon Medallions on Toast.
