  • I really liked the New Rules of Lifting series of books. Since it is difficult to learn how to do 3 dimensional moves from a two dimensional book, I found it really helpful to google videos of all the suggested exercises BEFORE heading to the gym. Splurging on a few training sessions can be really helpful too (most gyms…
  • That sounds fantastic! Thanks for posting!
  • Without knowing anything about you or your sister outside of your post, it sounds like your feelings have more to do with your relationship with your sister than with your own accomplishments. You are doing a great job and you are losing weight the right way. Feel good about that. Gastric Bypass is not the magic pill many…
  • How long has it been since you had your baby? I had really ugly red stretch marks and lots of loose skin and I was still feeling really bad about how it looked a full 2-3 years after my youngest was born. My youngest is 4 now and I'm finally at a stage where my stretchmarks don't bother me too much any more. They are still…
  • Yeah, that advice stinks. I wish I were someone who could stop counting calories, but whenever I do, I tend to put on weight. Counting calories is part of my healthy lifestyle and thanks to great apps like MFP, it isn't all that difficult to do. I got my high cholesterol WAY down by staying in my calorie range, using olive…
  • Light helps stimulate your brain and let your body know it is time to get up. I get up before dawn around 5:15/5:30am to workout, but I don't want to wake up my husband by turning on the lights, so I grab my phone (which charges on the nightstand) and take a quick peak at something right after my alarm goes off. It doesn't…
  • They are hard! Way to go!
  • Thanks! Happy to hear that!
  • I had some trouble with my polar HRM and thought that something was wrong with the strap, but then found this trick on the internet. I took the battery out and then attached it to the strap (while wearing it). Waited 30 seconds. Took it off the strap, put the battery back in and bam-o it worked again. I've had the HRM for…
  • I just started JMBR this week. I've done Ripped in 30, Six week Six Pack, Banish Fat Boost Metabolism, Yoga Meltdown and No More Trouble Zones. I'm sort of turning into a Jillian-Junkie. Needless to say, I'm a big fan and am really looking forward to Phase 2.
  • Mention it to your doctor at your next physical. It kind of sounds like you might have loose joints. If you do, you might want to do more exercises to build up your shoulder strength (which would help stabilize your socket) and less exercises that exacerbate the wobble in the socket (like push-ups).
  • Oh, and you could also pick up a portable stove. I had one of these in college. http://www.target.com/p/black-decker-2-burner-portable-double-buffet-range/-/A-13193092?ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001&AFID=Google_PLA_df&LNM=|13193092&CPNG=Appliances&kpid=13193092&LID=PA&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=13193092&gclid=CIL2zezvlroCFUJqMgod1GIAIQ
  • Do you have a grill? My oven broke and I just started using the grill for everything. We also have a fairly large toaster oven (they are pretty inexpensive if you don't already have one).
  • Made this early this week and it was yummy! Thanks!
  • In my 2 experience, I found that I lost a good amount of weight initially without trying very hard while breast-feeding, but then I got to a point where the scale wouldn't budge no matter what I did. My doctor said that with some woman, the body will hold onto a little extra fat while your still breastfeeding (sort of an…
  • I agree with the above poster that they are great with Asian foods because they kind of have a ramen texture. I like to mix them up with a stir-fry. A few tips that help no matter what type of recipe you use. Rinse them really really well to get rid of the weird fishy smell. Once they are totally rinse, put them in a pan…
  • Mmm. I had the most delicious yogurt dish over the weekend at a B&B. It was a mix of cut strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, kiwis and sliced banana. Probably about a total of a cup and a half of fruit. Then it was mixed with about a quarter cup of yogurt, a tsp of honey and then topped with fresh mint. The fresh mint…
  • I'd be interested. I'm on week 2 right now, but wouldn't mind having others to report back to.
  • Yes, I was kind of shocked the first time I saw MFP's gardening calculation. I wore my heart rate monitor and for me, it was more like 350 calories in an hour. Gardening can definitely be a legit workout, but it so subjective. I'd had days when I was just planting seedlings where I barely broke a sweat and then I've had…
  • I love the TaTaTamer by lulu lemon. Great support, and they look so good, I prefer them to normal bras even when I'm not exercising.
  • Sorry for the late reply. Yes that's exactly what they are.
  • Ooh there are so many good ones. I love mixing them up. I think my favorite might be Banish Fat Boost Metabolism. It's probably the highest calorie burning of her workouts -- a lot of cardio (about 50 min). No More Trouble Zones is really hard and I'm sore all over but feel awesome when I finish. It's strength and also…
  • Outkast: Hey Ya. I just went on a long run and just shy of 4 miles (when I knew I still had more than 2.5 miles to go), Hey Ya came on, and before I knew what I was doing, I had picked up my pace. For some reason, that song always makes me forget I'm tired :)
  • Yes! Especially if you weren't doing any form of exercise before. I went down two dress sizes by just walking and watching my diet. As I got closer to my goal weight, I took the exercise up a notch and added weight training, but I'm a huge fan of walking -- it burns lots of calories, but is easy on the joints.

  • Unfortunately the really good ones end up getting taken down pretty quickly for copyright infringement
  • Great work guys!! Jen that is awesome! Stick with it and keep up the good work. One of the most exciting things I've noticed in the last few weeks is that I rarely need to turn to a man to open tight jars for me anymore. Ha-ha!!
  • Yeah. The 120 second plank is crazy hard. I had to go up into a downward dog break about 3/4 of the way through in both sets. Next week I intend to hold one of them for the full 120.
  • Awesome!! 90-seconds is killer. I made a mistake of throwing in overhead tricep lifts before the planks and my arm were literally shaking by the time I got to 60 seconds. The last 30 were brutal -- glad to be done ;)
  • Oye. I don't know if its because I'm a little under the weather, but this was seriously challenging. So glad to be done.
  • You tube has lots of exercise videos -- there are a number of full length Jillian Michaels video that are excellent. Also, if you have a smart phone, download sworkit. It is fantastic and you don't need much space to get in an amazing workout.
